Specs of the three you've posted:

Kodak Zi6
  • Maximum resolution of 720p at 60 fps with aspect ratio of 16:9
  • 3 MP still pictures
  • mono audio
  • runs on (2) AA batteries
  • 128 MB internal memory (32Gb capacity (according to Amazon))

Pure Digital Flip Video MinoHD
  • Maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 at 30 fps with aspect ratio of 16:9
  • 4GB internal memory (I don't see that it has an expansion slot)
  • built in rechargeable battery - charges through USB - about 2 hours of recording per charge
  • Doesn't look like it takes still shots, but you can save still photos from the video

Enova HD Point & Shoot
  • Maximum resolution of 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second with aspect ratio of 4:3
  • 2GB internal memory (expandable up to 8GB)
  • built in rechargeable battery - charges through USB - no idea about run time

Based on those, I'd get the Kodak Zi6, a bunch of AA batteries and a couple of SD cards, unless you already have some laying around. I'm certainly not a fan of the audio, though. 👎

Well, my first advice would be to totally ignore the cutesy little pocket cameras and buy a Mini DV camcorder instead. But presumably you don't want a massively bulky thing.

You'll have to be a bit careful. Much like in digital cameras, the resolution isn't everything. That Enova might chuck out an HD image (in that it's 1280x720 pixels in size), but there's nothing to say that it'll be a decent quality image. In fact, according to the specification it doesn't even do that:

Video Resolution: 640 x 480

...so quite how they've got away with calling it 'HD' is beyond me. One to avoid, methinks.

To be honest with you, I hate these little pocket camcorder things. I'd much rather have a proper camcorder or a digital camera with a video mode. But just to satisfy my curiosity, I poked around a bit on Amazon, and pretty much came to the conclusion that I'd get the Mino HD. But then I checked out this review, and I've changed my mind - the Kodak seems to give better images. Also, you'll never be able to use the Mino's controls when you're skiing. Touch controls + gloves = uh-oh!

Personally though, I'd ignore all of that and get a normal digital camera. In fact, considering you're skiing, I'd go for an Olympus Mju 850SW, which is shock, water and freeze proof. But that's just me.

That's the thing. A lot of these things that say HD are actually just upscaling lower resolution images.
