With the beginning of the new update for GTA... (some say this), or... online Kart Racing for Nations Cup today´s event...

I´m asking you guys to help Kart Racing Noobs... just like me... on how should we (Kart Noobs) get ready for this possible disastrous event...

Things like which driving helping systems we should use. or not..., TCA settings, and stuff like that... and how to avoid spins.. for example...

Also some advice about changing or not the maximum Driving Wheel turning angle... would be very very welcome!!!! 💡:nervous::scared:

Please share your experience to avoid the worst nightmare on Nations Cup Racing History.... (I´ll be back later for the same regarding the following days, F1 racing event.., on Nurb..)

Thanks!!!:gtpflag:

Do you use a wheel? If yes just avoid huge and hectic steering inputs, be very smooth and gentle.
It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to drive the kart and my shoulders suffered from excessive driving of it afterwars for another 10 hours

I tried doing karts last night in a lobby. I couldn't get more than a few meters without spinning (DS4 user, motion steering) so I put in CSA strong and that helped alot, was then able to go 15 meters before spinning:ouch:

Then I put on ASM and I had absolutely no trouble getting around the track. However, I found I was losing alot of speed in the corners and others were passing me. :irked:

I gave up at that point but I'd be curious if others found a way to make this work:confused:

I found CSA Strong, TCS 2 was ok when I did some practice laps last night. Obviously Miyabi only has 1 long fast bend, 1 weak chicane, 1 hairpin and a slightly stronger chicane... so it's hardly a real test. Just have to be careful not to hit the curbs on the chicanes!

yeah that's the conclusion I was coming to and probably why I quit
I figured I'd rather spend the time practicing driving my N 900 McLaren 650S rather than trying to tame the kart. Myabi is nice and easy to play around though, maybe we got a chance to go side by side last night and didn't know it
I'll give TCS 2 a shot next time thanks for the advice:cheers:

If you're a DS4 user, I suggest CSA on strong as even the tiniest of steering inputs can be too much.
If you drive without any assists with your gr.4/gr.3/LMP1 cars than turning CSA on strong will make the kart feel relatively normal.

All other settings should be off for optimal performance.

How about steering sensitivity? Down?

Hum.. nobody said nothing about changes on Driving Wheel maximum turning angle... (usually mine is 900 or 1080 degrees) ??????:confused:

Doesn't GTS automatically change the degrees of rotation based on what's being driven? If they've set it for the kart, you'll need very minimal steering input and brakes but you need to keep some throttle on to maintain traction.

I didn't have a problem with it on the DS4 (sticks) and just used ABS but that was a few updates ago. Haven't driven it since they had it as a daily race.

I've yet to try it with the wheel though so I'll give it a try again later.

Thanks for your advice, mate!

"Doesn't GTS automatically change the degrees of rotation based on what's being driven?" ??? I´m not sure.. but I know that Asseto Corsa does so... Anyway I find difference between 900 and 1080 for certain cars and races.. believe me... and in my case.. (T500RS)

I have multiple choices!

G29 here so no options for changing it. I get what the game gives me but I'll certainly test it out later.

I'm wondering if you can override PD's default DoR for the kart as it's already pin sharp on the handling. Say it's 240 DoR and you drop from 900 to 450 on your wheel, would that make it 120 in game? Scary thought...

Just tried it in game and it's 180 DoR on my wheel. You might be able to smooth out the steering if you went to 1080 and possibly gain another quarter turn to the left and right.

I've found it far nicer to drive with adjustments to these steering settings, under Detailed Settings:

Controller Steering Sensitivity: -2
Force Feedback Sensitivity: 1

I have a 43.454 for today's Nations at Miyabi with those adjustments - so could be worth a try if you're finding it too twitchy.

CSA makes it feel really strange imo so I wouldn't recommend using it if you're a wheel user, but I can imagine that it's very useful if you're on DS4.

I have a G29 and in the kart it will only steer around 270deg from lock to lock not that you will really need to go full lock!

As for driving, as mentioned earlier you won't need the brake much if at all. On the last kart race at myabi I used around 30% brake into the hairpin coming onto and off the brake in a very gentle manner. Doing that on entry then throttle off until the apex. Then going onto the throttle really slowly. I think minus the hairpin track is flat from memory....

Try and keep the steering wheel straight. You can apply some steering to get the kart turning, then back the angle off a bit and it will rotate the turn for you if it goes well!

Cool! I can even change my wheel to 270 or 360 degrees maximum rotation! :)

Learning the kart was tough but I still think it's some of the most fun racing I've had in GTS. Tiny inputs are key, it doesn't take much to change direction or speed. You should almost never even touch the brake. Brands Indy was a good place to practice for me.

I've just done a few laps of Miyabi and can now see why you've made this thread.

The first long right corner I barely touched the steering to get around. The red dot moves maybe 1 or 2 notches on the steering with the so called hairpin needing barely twice that. In a car, the wheel would be going straight with that much input.

Kept goofing through the little chicane and hitting one of the curbs so never got a proper lap in. Far easier on the DS4 as at least with that, you can see some steering input. Every time I've been karting, the wheel definitely moved more than this one did. Not a fan of driving it with a wheel at all.

But that's just because arrive & drive karts are usually set up that way, on old tyres too.
The proper ones do drive very similarly to this one, but yeah even then, still slightly more steering input, but not a lot - the philosophy is the same.

Stick with it man, drive it similarly to how you would the 911 RSR (in terms of throttle / steering), and you'll just be thinking it around the corners :)

Beware Gents! Reported on the Daily Races Thread that Carnage is going on on Dailly KArt Racing.. :nervous::guilty::scared:

Oooo! There's a daily kart race?! I may actually get on Sport Mode tonight then. :D

Since @kilesa4568 mentioned Miyabi, they had a kart/DPM combo way back in probably December or early January when I last did Sport Mode. Had some good races and some cluster:censored: races but I got a few wins out of it. :)

If I remember, you don't need brakes there at all. Lift early but not fully for the hairpin and you should slow enough to get around it without much trouble. Ease back on the throttle to not spin on the goofy camber. Slight tap of the brake (while going straight) at most if you're dealing with traffic or coming off a good draft. Avoid the last curb on the right coming out of the chicane onto the main straight as it will quite often send you around if you don't hit it right.

Other than that....tiny inputs!

It's been awhile since I've jumped in a kart, but if I remember I had to use CSA and TC and it made things much, much easier (I use a wheel). I believe I also turned down my sensitivity levels.

Drop your controller steering sensitivity to -2. That'll help immensely.
