Well for those who havent seen Best MOTORing Roaring VTEC, let me tell you its great so check it out.

Tsuchiya and Hattori takes a look at 4 representatives of the state-of-the art in today's street-tuned VTEC cars, testing them on the Ebisu circuit.

1. Type-One EF9 Honda Civic SiR
2. Prime Garage Integra Type-R
3. JUN's "Super Lemon" (yellow) 270ps Prelude

The last car in this "VTEC-Magic" group test is a rather unusual car. VTEC-engined it is but it's FR and it's not the S2000. It is the Force AE86 Toyota Trueno, powered by a stock 250ps F20C S2000 engine !! Complete with roll-cage and a race-tuned package, the engine swap alone costed 1.8 million yen (1,800,000.00 Yen = 16,431.78 USD) while the whole conversion project costed the owner 4.4 million yen (4,400,000.00 Yen = 40,166.12 USD)! But at over 400kg lighter, the VTEC-86 is a very fast car indeed.

Also check this out... its also of a AES2000... Not the same as above.

Now you can own a fanboy Anime hatchback and buy huge VTEC stickers!
I don't see why someone would bother. The S2000s a perfectly fine car by itself, and he could've just bought one.

The red one, only spend 10K on the engine swap and all that... less than the Best MOTORing one. I do agree that I would not go through all that trouble, I would just buy a Honda S2000 new at 32K or used..

Yellow 04 Honda S2000 👍

Why stick the engine in? If the 86 is over 400kg lighter then it's going to be quicker than the S2000 and besides, you can't compare an S2K to an 86, they are totally different cars!

To tell you the truth I have no idea why they did it. I know its quite a unique engine swap but for 10-16K I would rather save up for a better car. I wouldnt do the engine swap, but actually I wouldnt own an Toyota Corolla. Its just not me. The 86 with the S2000 engine is of course faster than a stock S2000, because of the weight difference. Stock for stock an AE86 vs S2000 is no match, S2000 wins hands down. Just like mr pushrod said, S2000 and an AE86 is like comparing chocolate to ****... totally different.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO IN THE H#LL WOULD PUT A HONDA ENGINE IN A TOYOTA!?!?!?! they should be shot! it's blasphemy!!!! that car should be destroyed and never spoken of again. All i can think of is that poor Trueno trying to rip it's own heart out.... :( that poor poor car.....

I was thinking the same thing but then again I can remember a time when I wanted to put a neon engine in a del sol. :odd:

First off clam down dude!!~!@%!@^!#@& I dont think its all that bad, who cares, its not your money. I think its a crazy engine swap, I wouldnt do it but I dont think they derserve to be shot.

I think it's ok. Innovative swaps like these are refreshing to the world of import tuning, where swapping engines is more or less unconventional. 'sides it should be fast, so its fine.

Well the 86 got faster..... with a S2000 engine...... so........

It fits so it fits..... and if it works (faster) whats wrong with that?

Is it the combination between the Initial D hyped AE86 with a brand-hyped Honda thats bothering people?

OMFGLOLWTF!!1!!!11!!!!1!

Calm down!

Interesting but completely pointless. If they don't completely mess it up with stickers and a body kit, it'd make a good sleeper.

exactly my thoughts.
y not just replace the standard engine with a 4age? they only cost $1200 for a half cut.
that with a front mount and a blitz turbo easily makes 325hp.
in fact if u have the High Performance Imports version 8 dvd there is a yellow one that ken works built which is simmilar.

Reading what is said in the forum, the guy who built it has a number of turbo cars already. To quote;

"It feels like a 4AG on steriods. The power band is even and linear just like the 4AG, without any unsettling "punch" of power like the Turbo cars I own."

Seems to me like he prefers the feel of a normally aspirated engine.

That is a 100% "We did it because we have the $" car.....No point...No SUBSTANTIAL racing value....simply a "eh, we were bored and read some 13 year olds forum, and decided WHY NOT"

heck as for the SBC idea...it'd be cool..but there's enough Nissans with SBC's out there...Please don't fuel the fire for a Toyo-SBC trend

this is a disgrace in the good name of Toyota. how would Takumi feel about this? i hate you all.

You my friend is a dumbarse. :) First off how is this disgracing the good name of Toyota? If it disgrace anyone it disgrace the one who modified it. The AE86 is faster than it was without the Honda S2000 engine, but it cost alot around 10K. It may not be the best performance part for your buck but thats their choice. I like Initial D and all but "ok". We all hate you too F. Zamataki. Have a nice day. 👍

I feel that its their money, they can do it if they want. If I would ever have a AE86 :scared: I would never put a Honda S2000 engine in it, because I feel its a waste of money. Im not saying its a bad swap, because its faster than it orginally was and the S2000's engine isnt bad at all. Its also a unique swap, I think its cool even though I wouldnt do it.

Keiichi Tsuchiya has a TRD tuned AE86, when he saw the S2000 engine in the Hachiroku he went crazy. All he had was love for it. I bet he does agrees it cost way too much. Other AE86 owner show love, but I would bet that most of them wouldnt do anything like this.

It performs better than before he did the engine swap. He is also faster than a stock S2000 because its much lighter, so yeah the point is hes one of the first to do a engine swap like this.

Highs: Faster and unique engine swap
Lows: Alot of money, and time
My thoughts: Its a unqiue engine swap and all but I wouldnt do it.

yeah but swapping in the toyota 20V is a much better alternative....

Maybe he wants to be unqiue. I dont know its not me who did the swap. I do know that its much faster than it orginally was. Keiichi Tsuchiya, a man known for driving the famous "ae86" did a test run in an AE86 with S2K motor. He thought it was a crazy engine swap and was mostly blown away.

To be fair, the S2k lump has more go than the 20V. I can't see the problem, hotrods have had engines from totally different companies for years with no complaints.

yeah, but imports have their own name and pride to uphold, in the import world its all about who has the fastest engine. even though its fast, tuners prefer to use their own brands engines as a type of competition to show the other brands that their companies make faster motors thatn the others, thats why honda tuners swap B18's in place of their SOCH's, nissan owners swap in the famous SR20 into their 240sx's, and so on and so forth. when you get into the big displacement engines, it is nissan and toyota that share the ultimate battle, of twin turbo charged L6's.

The import world is not about who has the fastest engine at all! Maybe in some Honda-flooded scenes where "street drag" is everything, it is, but many of us Import fans, especially drifters, would rather have a stock motor with a great suspension than 1000HP and stock footwork.

It can't be that important surely! Top Secret did their RB26DETT powered Supra, there was an RX7 also with Skyline power and there have been plenty of SR20 powered AE86s. If this 86 is being used regularly which it sounds like it will be, I think the S2k lump makes more sense than a higly tuned 4AG. After all, the standard Honda engine should be far less stressed and far more reliable than the tuned Toyota unit.
