Would rather turn up in a 400i then a Mondial, 308 GT4 or California. I'd have one tomorrow (in azzuro blue with tan leather) ...if it wasn't a 30 year old Italian car with a 12 cylinder engine.

I don't know why there is so much hate for that car*. I think they're great.

*Well, I do, but that adds to it's charm!

In that colour? Beautiful. I like the California's styling. It's much better than that of the 458, in my opinion.

The 458 has a nicer rear end.

The California has a nicer front end.

They should be combined! :p

The front end is the part that kills me with the California.

It looks surprised and it has that ugly Mazda 3 smile.

I'm the opposite. I can't stand the 458's front end, with that hideous opening and those ugly headlights, but the rear end is great.

The 458 looks stunning from the front IMO. It's not a pretty car, it's just beautiful in its precision.
I think the rear end is a disappointment (not bad looking) but I don't think it suits the car well. Either the front or the back is wrong, but I prefer the front end and it is very aggressively sexy IMO.

The front of the California looks great too, the rear is horrendous.
Can't think of the last time they did a decent rear end that actually compliments the front end... 360 CS or F355, that was the last time Ferrari had it right IMO.

I agree, I like the California's somewhat quirky styling and its proportions but the 458 looks way too overdone especially at the front for my taste. Looks like a bad concept done by some Ferrari fanboy student IMO.

Enzo didn't care what they made so long as it funded their racing exploits.

Case in point:

Sorry to quote a months-old post but I'm another 400-series admirer who thinks this car undeservedly receives a lot of flak, probably for being misunderstood.
It's always the one which gets mentioned for being the ugly duckling yet the dull Mondial hardly is.
I think, and that's personal ofcourse, it's the last really classy Ferrari (along with its spiritual successor the 456), a clean understated sharply-styled GT for those who don't want to attract attention.
Even when I was a kid I preferred its less obvious appeal to the then current Testarossa and in recent years it hasn't gotten better.

It's a luxurious 4-seater GT styled in the same period as another Pininfarina great, the Fiat 130 coupe and should perhaps be judged in that context.

Anything with a Ferrari badge will attract some kind of attention, period. With their current styling though Enzo is probably rolling in his grave.

Its nice, but it looks like it has rip off magnum 500's for rims.

Never understood the extreme hate for the 308 GT/4. It performed and drove just like the GTB and I don't see the big problem with the styling at all. In fact, I think I prefer the look of the understated Bertone GT/4 over the overstyled GTB/GTS.
