Don't care for the center console much. Most of the controls under the screen look inaccessible from this view.

If you're standing on the front seat I guess they could be inaccessible. ;)

Most modern Ferraris usually have a 6-speed availability you don't get to see very often. From this view, though, it looks like the center piece would have to change quite a bit to incorporate one.

GREAT photo!! Very illustrative - there's NO room back there. SC430 is worse though

It does look like you have some headroom though. Even my Celica is lacking in that...

Could it possibly be an insurance thing? Where it's cheaper to insure if it's listed as having 4 seats?

But then again, if someone can afford to buy the car, they can afford to insure it...

its cheaper to insure a car with 2 seats apparently.

I seem to remember it's cheaper to insure a car with less doors, but more seats (up to 4/5 seats). That really makes no sense in the event of an accident (more people, less exits) but that's seemingly how it is (U.K only/ Possibly other areas of Europe).

I thought it was the other way around. 4 door hatchbacks are usually cheaper to insure than their 2 door equivelants. (3 and 5 door respectively if you count the boot!)

Inevitably, Hamann have got their greasy mits on it...

Nice to see they didn't go overboard and add a bunch of ugly aero pieces all over the car. Side profile with the roof up is very nice, imo.

You know as much as I want to hate that rear spoiler,it actually makes the rear view a little better.

They stuck on a bunch of lips and spoilers with double-sided tape. You know, the usual Ferrari tuning treatment.

This doesn't only got for Hamann, but it seems that that is the extent of the majority of Ferrari tuning, bodywork-wise. It really isn't such a big deal to mold up some new clams and have some fun with the body, especially at their asking price.

Not much of a drastic change, but I've seen so little of this car in general, that I'm not all too bothered by it.

I used to do this with my toy cars as a kid - colour some of the details in with a black permanent marker pen. 👍

The original car was such an abomination i couldn't care less what tuners do to it.

So did I, except later I always wished I didn't, much like this car.

Indeed, the side profile with a hard top on it is stunning!

I think the aero stuff helps make the car a little better, but it also gives it a look of something that is a grand tourer but also wants to be a track car. The car just looks too fat to have those aero bits actually look really good on the thing.

Apparently Hamann has booster the power by a good 80+ hp also. I'm not complaining about that.

It looks much better in front off you;).

No. That is the only Ferrari that deserves the destiny of becoming Paris Hiltons daily driver. There's no redeeming factor for it. It's overweight cabrio with more power than what it can use, and any potential it could have has been drowned with electronics.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say you might have missed the point of this car.

It's a boulevard cruiser designed for mass appeal (to the wealthy).

And what exactly is it overweight compared to?
Curb weights from Wikipedia.

Ferrari California 1,630 Kg
Bentley Continental GTC 2,485 Kg
Aston Martin DB9 Volante 1,860 Kg
Maserati GranCabrio 1,980 Kg

That's probably the dry weight for the California. And pricewise it's in lower class than Aston or Bentley. And a boulevard cruiser it indeed is. Hear that whirring sound? That's Enzo, spinning in his grave.

I've found another weight on Parkers of 1,735 Kg, still lighter than the rest...
So it costs less, but the luxury and performance is still comparable.

And while I understand that Enzo may not be enamoured with the direction it goes in, it is a major money maker for Ferrari, allowing them to carry on an F1 program and funding further development. The company would probably be far worse without these kind of cars.

Indeed. I am still waiting for their first official production hybrid. California would be a good place to start with.

There's nothing wrong with the Ferrari 400/412. Wouldn't want to own one now mind.

It has some amazing unwanted charm. I'd love to be able to say "I'll pick you up in my Ferrari" and showing up in that. The look of disappointment would be worth the price of maintenance.

And because Daft Punk.
