After the [Spec II] update, playing online is plain stupid.

RRoD? no thanks.
The tuning cars turned this game into "noob car challange". At least before I've seen some good close racing using stock cars.

Online is worst than before.

So what's the latest on online multiplayer? Is it Region free worldwide(ala Motorstorm) or is it limited to your country?

I agree. Also, I find somehow stupid to have "PRO" events with "everything allowed" because of the tuned cars.

I've been driving all online races without ABS for few days, and no other assists whatosover. But yesterday, fastyfast drove against me on Suzuka with Evo X Tuned - I drove F430 - and he was slowly approaching me.

On the first turn of the second lap I took inside, while he took outside. Of course, you really can't go ouside on that corner without loosing some manouvar space, so he leaned on me - and it was over for me because after his bump I couldn't keep the car straight any more.

If the ABS-OFF would have been mandatory, he would not be in position to take that damn ouside and realise too late that his grip is not sufficient to keep the turn clean.

Later I raced on HSR with F430, and they were just killing me - all because of ABS. They're all taking "n00b lines" (last moment braking on slopes while turning and such), and they were constantly bashing me because they couldn't understand that I brake on straight sections, taking primarily "slow in-fast out" lines. I lost all my nerves yesterday :)

So, my problem are not tuned cars - if you want to drive them, drive them - but my problem is that PRO races should come with mandatory ALL-Assists-OFF.

I also agree with you.
Yesterday i drove online against lots of tuned car and all those noobs were wallsurfing and raming me to brake. I hope the update that will allow us to create events and play with fair play friends will come very soon !

If people wanna play "noob car challange" thats fine with me, at least gave us the stock races back or private rooms. There are so so many online events and all of them are "noob car challange" events; I am not asking much, gave us back at least 1 stock race in each class.

Just learn to play without ABS its faster then with it! So dont cry about this! Do a normal settiong of the car and all be all right! Another theme it that time of F2007 in overall rankings(( sorry for bed engl!

either ur english is bad or u missed the point completely... or both

It's very frustrateing I know but give it a little while to calm down, this happens on every online racing game when it first comes out. Treat it as a challenge, if theres someone behind you in the corner aproach move off line, let him out brake himself and just nip through on the inside, noobs invareabley end up in the kitty litter after out braking themselves, allways fun to see LOL Just a case of keeping out of trouble on the first lap then maintaining a good lap time to keep them far enough behind you for the rest of the race, if theres anyone up the front with you usualy they are good driver/s as well so you can race with them properly, eventualy the skill matching system will put you with clean drivers......well 90% of the time LOL For hints on race avoidance tactics just youtube any TOCA race (the real life race not the game)

man I wish some private races with only clutch enabled :)

That is very ironic. I'm sure you meant to use the words "your" and "you" in your post about bad English.

You probably have a full size keyboard in front you. Please use the keys to spell out words properly.

Thanks.

5.04 and 5.50 are great examples of race avoidance lol. I'm suprised craig lowndes crash wasn't even in that video.

My mistake not using proper English but I think by using "u" and "ur" in my post still made a lot more sense than the post I was referring to.

excuse me, my Q is a bit OT.

sometimes, when I play GT5P PAL online, I suffer some rivals' cars go erratically, with leaps, etc. And that happens not to all cars on a track, but to a few of them. Have u seen that?
Is my connection bad?
btw I have a 1mbit bandwidth connection (no jokes plz :) )

1mbit isn't a bad internet connection, at least compared to Australia. The most likely problem that you are having is that the host actually has a bad internet connection rather than yourself. GT5p online actually has 1 of the players in the race host the actual race. So if their connection is bad, then the race suffers.

Well hello, Mr Tolerant.

Unlike you and I, he doesn't have English as a first language. How is your Russian, for example?

No, it's not faster in GT5P. The difference between ABS "OFF" and ABS "1" is a giant leap and requires a much longer braking zone since the brakes lock up far too easily with ABS off. Even slight pressure on the brakes results in the tires screaming with the cars I've tested, making it very difficult to compete with cars who have ABS turned on (in pro physics events).

Also keep in mind that all arcade time trialing does not allow for tuning, thus ABS is always on since the "off switch" is in the QT screen.

Online is an absolute mess right now, but PD has done a lot with the game since December and I'd expect more tweaks soon. For instance, note that the Suzuka shortcuts have been addressed with penalties in the latest update.

EDIT - Oops. ABS to ZERO/OFF does indeed work very well once you take the time to read the translation guide and turn the front and rear brake balance down to around 1 or 2 for both... essentially providing a braking force adjustment. ABS OFF is now what I'd hoped it would be.

Just did another bunch of online races and have now noticed what you are talking about. It seems there are drivers who simply aren't very skilled and just go buy the fastest tuned car they can afford and use it to win races. At least before hand when it was gtr vs f430 etc. each had its strengths and weaknesses. Now its one tuned car vs best of the rest.

you can set ABS to 0 via Live Dynamics (i mapped that to my G25) in Time Trial.

Its about time the Suzuka shortcuts have been fixed! What about the time ranking leaderboards? Are everthing wiped out? If not how can those who used the shortcuts before be beatable?

Agree. Online is crap. No one is braking, just use you as break.
The penalty level is way, way too low.

Also, these tuned cars doesn't make online fun either. It was much more fun with stock cars.

I find it difficult that people who crash and such get a ghost like car. So that you can't bump into them.
Most of the time that backfires; because the car tends to switch back to normal just as you're going to run into them.
Very hard to judge when you have to make an evasive manoeuvre or not.

Excellent... if I were to want to turn ABS to zero and lower both the front/rear brake balance (reducing overall braking force), can I do those each via Live Dynamics?

I agree. What could help is to get like a one or one and half second warning that that ghosted car is coming back to normal. Maybe this can be done by having the ghosted car starting to rapidly blink between ghosted and normal display.

I am afraid of GT turning into forza online (apart from the lobbys and stuff :) ). In forza 2 with all the tuning and setups allowed in races and the car performance points it means that to win you need a certain car with a certain setup. If you dont have it you cant race for first. It get really boring because your either racing a light car with racing slicks and no power or a really heavy powerful car with oil for tires.

Racing is best with stock setups and stock cars. I just hope PD allows us to race like that.

Agreed. The online mode has taken a step backwards (or sideways at best) IMO.

Not to mention I'm yet to have a reasonable online race that isn't a huge lag fest. I've had much better races playing the Japanese version.

Any other Aussies with both versions suffering more lag on the Aus/Euro version?

I wouldn't go that far.

I think this first 35 races we got are just made to satisfy very broad audience that would come online in first week(s) of the game.

Same as in JP case, I guess we can expect much more "limited" content in online challenges in later stages.

I am sure that online will evolve more to "hard-core" audience as time will pass by, with some races, challenges and time-trials that will serve only for most demanding drivers.

Also, seeing the number of online events as it is now, I can presume that some changes will soon come in interface and looks, making clearer distinction between race types and making online events more similar in looks and structure to off-line events.

Just matter of time I guess.

a lot of people play in standart mode :( after pro mod it not interesting..... And i hate this GT-R i think its car too fast :( and it bad when you race on Aston DB9 again Nissan Gt-r, you have just i choice take a Audi R8 it pretty fast too....

This is like a trick I use for GTL and GTR2 on the PC, reducing the braking force gives you more adjustability on the brake pedal, also allowing differences in front and rear brake power/Bias? Gives you a rudimentary way of altering the turn in style of the car (shame its not % in the beginning, haven't got the QTS yet)
AI is still poo though and Online is still a ram fest, but it is fun watching the muppets try to win at all costs and flying off everywhere.

only done about 10 online races so far but to be honest not seen any deliberate idiots, plenty of ploughing into bends at mach 10 but easy to avoid and fun to watch the smoke go past your side window LOL Did notice the tuned 1 series BMW's having a bit of free run on the 1st sports car race, saying that there was an NXS in between the bunch. PGR3 had a problem where there would be 1 car which dominated in any one class, seems this isn't the case in GT but as usual there will be those cars which shine! As for the bandwith issue, if your having races where cars are jumping about on track you need to select a race with fewer cars in it, again I'd let the servers calm down a little as there will be a very high number of users online right now, should settle down soon. I've got a 10 meg connection and still see the occasional car getting a little jumpy (nothing to distract and more of a rare occurance than every race) Give everything a week or 2 too settle down then you should get a good impression of online, personaly, best online races I've had!
