AGAIN with the disconnects-WTF is going on?

Would also have to disagree in this case as it was running through the router until gt5 got patched then the problems started. Not to mention GT5 has been the only game with this problem.

Next glitch plug in direct and it will be fixed. I also play through my router most of the time, but it will be guaranteed to disconnect at least once and not join at least 3 rooms.

When I get into my more serious fast rooms I always just plugin direct :)

Just explain the set up you are suggesting to me ... Just so I can test this idea out 100% accurately :)

I have issues too, but enough about me.

My PS3 disconnects regularly through a router.

I am not very technically minded when it comes to all this router settings stuff but are you saying I should use a wired connection from my ps3 direct to the telephone socket bypassing a router completely? Sorry if this is a total noob question

I'm NAT 2 on a wireless connection. everything was working fine with me being able to join 90% of rooms and rarely being disconnected. after this most recent update, it's almost unplayable online. I'm lucky if I can join 25% of the rooms and if I manage to get in I have 75% chance of being disconnected. on top of this, if I do manage to start a race with over 8 people I cannot see some cars and names.

after this update I've gotten every error you could imagine. nothing has changed on my end. PD needs to get their act together...

I have had my fair share of dissconnects, one day in particular I went almost crazy as it was so frequent. It was a case of either being rammed and a race being ruined, or being dissonected!! Somedays I have no problems at all.

I did check my router settings and I do have UPnP as enabled but for some reason UPnP still shows up as unavailable when I check via the PS3 settings.

What also bugs me, is when I have friends online, who are clearly in Lobbies racing, yet via the community tab it shows them as either offline totally, or online but not currently playing in an online lobby.

As I write I have 2 friends currently in the same lobby racing, yet I can't join becuase they do not show as currently racing in an online lobby via the community section.

Forget about new this and new that, lets get the game working properly, then we can have all the other stuff that people want added to the game!!

Pappa I get exactly the same thing.

I'm wondering if I have too many friends. Ie I added around 50 from here. Most who I never play. I was thinking of trimming it down.

Cone to think off it, I'm sure your one of them.

If you know the other person is racing then you can still click on their name and find out where they are racing ... It just doesn't have the green light.

Well depending on your provider. I have cable internet with a cable modem. Some have dsl with a dsl modem, no you cannot plug your ps3 direct into dsl on the wall, yes you can with cable.

What I am saying is, plugging your ps3 direct into the cable modem will give it an ip of say 24.72.31.156 this is your live public ip. This will allow you to connect to ALL rooms and STOP disconnects period, you will see all the cars in the room and can join 16 player rooms etc, also fixes problems where you cannot hear all players on mic.

With a router, EVEN DMZ OR UPNP OR PORT FORWARDED, no matter what it will always have disconnects, can't joins, can't see all cars in a race, and problems with hearing everyone on mics, or the stupid join this room later message. The problem is signifigantly less if you are in a room of 8 or less. It is still playable, and also seems if you join a room soon (3rd person in say) you will have no problems if 10 others join. It seems to me PD "in-room routing" is jacked up and flawed, by this I mean they are having trouble routing 192.168.1.x when another 192.168.1.x subnet joins because they still have to understand your nat, its the same understanding as subnetting vpn's out basically. I have no problem in other games hosting or playing with my uPNP router, but you want quality gameplay in gt5 pub ip to ps3 is the only way to go. This started really after the updates.

I have about 60 friends now, could be causing a prob but I should not think so?

I am playing almost all the time, and although I see you online, I often dont see you play online via the community tab, so I assume you are either A or B spec'ing. Come online now if you have the chance? and see if you can join a lobby i am in? (joining a room now, couple of mins)

So that's just a fix for cable broadband then isn't it? If you have DSL then you can't help it?

DSL varies as some providers, for instance ATT/yahoo, you can login to their dsl box and specify a device to take your public ip, some providers just assign a live ip, some providers are dsl modem/router all in one.

If you have your dsl modem connected to a router such as a linksys etc, then taking out the router and going from dsl modem>ps3 would eliminate the router and give your ps3 a live public ip address ie 65.76.22.134. If it still gives the ps3 a private address (192.x 172.x 10.x) then your dsl modem is acting like a router and you should check with them to see if you can get that disabled and do your own routing.

See we where just given a router from Orange, useless livebox lol! :P

So now it runs out the wall into the router then wireless over to the PS3, so I think it is stuck with a private IP, but usually, when I race online, my PS3 is the only thing connected to the router, so I guess it all seems to work out alright in the end. For me I'm stuck with a router I think :)

If you can login to that box you might be able to point the live ip to any device including the ps3. Dsl just has so many variations that I can't tell you all them lol. But ultimatly everyone can get a live public ip to their ps3, just the method might be slightly different :)

Also like I said it is playable via router/private addy, but to elimate problems there is really only one way 👎

Im not touching that livebox lol ... I swear it is the most useless thing I have ever used lol! It isnt a patch on the netgear one I have now.

The servers have definitely changed in the last few days. I don't even race online and I noticed numerous glitches. Since Friday about half the time I started up GT5 I received an "error: not connected to the server" message. This happened to me a few times over the weekend. I can only remember this happening in the past when GT5's servers were down. On one occasion it wouldn't let me into the community tab saying I wasn't connected to the server. I had to exit GT mode and re-enter and then could go into the community section.

So something has definitely changed in the last few days.

Is this still happening to you people? I've had no problem playing online from launch until recently. It's been this way for me after patch 1.06. I get disconnected EVERY single time within 5 seconds to 3 minutes. I'm on Wifi and I've tried everything I can think of:

(combinations of)
- Port forwarding
- DMZ
- uPnP
- Static IP
- Primary DNS 4.2.2.2, Secondary DNS 4.2.2.1
- Static MTU 1500
- ICS with a wired connection from laptop

Tests results show that my PS3 is running at 8 Mbps down and 2.5 Mbps up with a signal strength of 80% and a NAT of 2. So I doubt that my network is at fault.
I can play every other game online with my wireless connection except GT5. Wired is not an option for me since the router is one floor away. Any ideas or similar stories?

Just started experiencing this phenomena again in the past 3 or 4 days. This would include the surprise network maintenance we had on 11/20, culminated by tonight's rash of server lobby disconnects. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have had couple of sessions with more disconnects than usual but it hasn't been as bad as it was in the beginning of the year for me. Have also been able to drive problem free on many days.

It sometimes takes me an hour to find a server I can actually race in... And that's -just- connectivity-wise. Sometimes I'll find stable servers but lousy/dirty racers.

It's almost impossible for me to race online. :(
