Agh. I'm so bad at this game.

I got this game about two weeks ago, and I'm not good at it. At all. I'm trying to beat arcade mode, and I'm still stuck on the Area A tracks. I beat Super Speedway, but I can't beat Midfield Raceway. I can't make that turn that leads into the tunnel. I either slow down so much I get down to first gear, or crash into the wall. Any advice on how to become better at that turn, or this game in general?

Start with the License Tests. Follow the instructions, watch the replay carefully and keep trying for gold.

Definitely do license tests first. They're in the simulation mode. Get up to an A license, and you'll be MUCH better off. BTW....on the licenses, you need to get a bronze on each one, not gold.

Golds are better, you get awards.

Clon, first of all, welcome to GTP. Enjoy it here, ask question if needed, just have fun.

But clon, you need to stop power yourself into turns. Use a slower car. The slower the car, the easier you can get used to the game. If you feel like you've gotten used to the slower then go to B and then so on. Don't just pick the fastest car you have in arcade ( which I know you do. ) and then race and think you gonna win. But I strongly advise doing the license tests and learn the line. It'll help you out.

BTW, are you new to the GT series?

Darin: Yes, I am new to the series. <_<

And I'm starting on the license tests. I haven't gotten much time to do them, but I've passed up to B-3 with a gold. And Apex Kev, I'll look at that guide you posted. Thanks everyone for the replies, and the welcome. =)

Ugh. I'm back from trying to get gold on all the B license tests. I've been doing it for about 5 hours and a half, and I'm stuck on B8. I can't even get silver. Any tips? And I did look at the guide. It didn't help. I also searched, but "B8" was too short.

B8 is the hardest of the license tests. Good luck with it.
As for the Arcade mode.
If you run the Opel/Vauxhall Speedster in the road races, with the exception of the Test Course, on "hard" you should handily beat any of the other "B-class" car the AI puts up against you.
I suggest running on "hard" only because you win the prize cars for the other levels also when you win. If however, you are wed to the idea of running each course three times, be my guest.:D
For the Rally courses, use the Subarus for everything but the longer Tahiti course. For it use the Lancer Rally car.
Above all else, be smooth. The brake is every bit as important as the gas. Us it wisely, and win easily.
AS for getting all golds on the license tests, your best bet is to do so on the A-license. The hardest test there is the Camaro on the uphill portion of Seattle.

ok, let's see... After 15 minutes, I'm sitting with a 43.069. Just short of the mark.

Pointers.
The 4wd does not like full left or right lock very much. It causes a severe lack of grip at the front, which leads to understeer, and a canyon wall. Lighten up on the steering, and work on just nudging the wheel. Hold a constant angle as you teeter around the corner.

Now, are you dropping to second for the hairpin? Don't. Stay in third. The Skylines are much happier when you shift in around 6800rpm. Now, I will say that you need to run right up into the redline in first and second at the start. The other nice thing about staying in third at the hairpin, is you get less tire spin. With tire spin, the car send more power to the front. This means you're trying to bully a FF car around a corner. Stay in third and you'll carry much more speed through here. Momentum around that corner, means loads as you'll be accelerating all through teh next part.

The only place I came close to hitting full steering lock, was the left hand corner tween the last two tunnels.

Now, the canyon...pleasure the throttle through here. Don't smack it, but rather ease off and on through the upcoming left/right combo. Again, make sure not to hit full steering lock at these points.

Most of all, listen to your tires. Turn your sound up a bit more. With concentrating on steering and accelerator control, you'll tend to not listen to anything around you. You'll block out important noises. For instance your tires wailing like a three year looking at an ice cream truck.

If your tires are squealing, you're losing grip. Less grip = less power on the road.

Like Gil said. Stay smooth and you'll do fine.

Good luck

Whoa...you got this game 2-3 weeks ago, and you're golding the licenses already? Anyways....B8 is really tough. One other bit of advise I have is to keep it clean through the last turn, before the long tunnel. You have a pretty long straight after that turn, so you want to be coming out as fast as you can. Come in really tight on the apex (in the yellow striped area), and hold it in there for a little bit. On the exit, if you brush the outside a bit, you'll slow down too much.

Also...if you haven't already, I'd suggest getting up to your IA license, and probably the S also. If you're good enough to gold the B's, you can pretty much get all the licenses (though maybe not on gold). And....once you end up with an S license, you should be able to take all of Hard in Arcade mode with most any car.

And...one last little bit of advice.... When you're done golding the B's, take your new prize car over to the spider and roadster enduro once you get some racing slicks (and the IA license). The money you get will set you up for a really great run through the beginner series.

Excellent advice from both Der Alta and Purple Platypus and I would only add one thing... Take a break! After 5 1/2 hours frustration sets in and hurts the whole effort.

Man, I suck. Had the game since december and after spending about an hour I managed to gold 3 more licenses so I have B1-4, and B6 golded. Almost beat B5 but my fingers are hurting:D

Are you seriously going to try to get all golds in every license before you start playing the rest of the game? That's great, but you might burn yourself out on the game completely.

Getting all gold in the B License gives you the Miata MX-5 LS. It's a decent car -- it's actually the best car for the Roadster Endurance, but it's not that impressive. You can buy a Miata on day 1 for $16,900, and with a turbo it can win all kinds of races easily.

The A License is the easiest test to get all golds on. Winning it gets you the RX8, which can win the Polyphony Digital Cup easily (after you buy some hard tires for it). That'll give you $950,000 and the best car in the game. It makes things a little too easy using the F1 car, but the cash you get really helps, because you don't have to repeat amateur races over and over again just to get money.

If you're really going to get all golds, though, you can just wait till you get the Viper from the S License. It can destroy the Polyphony Digital Cup without even changing the oil or buying tires.

I don't know why everybody says A is easier to gold. I had no probs golding B, but I haven't getton A7 after several sessions of trying.

Hi.
You can also view replays of the Licence runs in Replay Theatre
,Demonstration.
A Sharkport is an invaluable tool for downloading replays from the faster drivers, then chasing the ghost to learn the best lines.
Good Luck, maybe we will see you in the Weekly Racing Series here someday.

Attempting to gold after 3 weeks is really impressive. That alone should teach you the skills you need as you have to make several attempts at it. I can gold B1 through B7 without much effort but B8 still eludes me.

Thanks Der Alta on the tips, will have to try that on B8 sometime.
