Not huge news, but I read this on the official website today:

http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d6067.html

It seems it has to do with the fans being more efficient, freeing up more power. So now there is an explanation for the added power (now 1600+hp) when fully broken in. It doesn't make me like the X2011 any more, but it is cool how they explained all the improvements.👍

Yeah, it was an interesting read as I wasn't aware of such small improvements!
Hope they also make an X2012 but how can they improve it any more?... :D

Easy. Just add

They will put a Pontiac Sunfire engine so it will be more powerful.

Adrien will find ways to improve it.
Wish the 2011 had a DRS.

Ah yes, KERS and DRS will improve it. :p

KERS would ruin it as you can get alot more power from an engine size increase but taking up the same amount of room thus not adversly effecting the aerodynamics.

Mine has 1634bhp after doing the indy 500 to run it in :sly:

Interesting read, I love how much thought they've put into the redesign, it feels like a real-life concept.

Maybe some kind of boost system. :)

DRS + X2011 = take off through Eau Rouge...

I had the sneaking suspicion it was still influenced by and in collaboration with Mr. Newey and RBR; some of the changes were far too subtle (exhaust outlets, for example).

Given the F1 cars will (preliminarily) be adopting 1.6 litre V6 turbo engines in 2014, and Renault have experience with 1.5 litre turbo V6s from the '80s (which could produce in excess of 1000 bhp in qualifying trim), I personally expect that a working prototype of the 'X' wouldn't be too far off RBR's "roadmap", assuming they plan to continue competing in F1 in the future. I expect the real problem will be driving the damned thing, though...

Would I be expecting far too much to think it would be a great collaborative promotion to have a working X2012 / X2013 / X2014 etc. ready for the release of GT6? :dopey:

Haha, it would be awesome, but the car couldn't exist in real life (like in the game) because it's undrivable. The g-forces are too high and you would need the reflexes of a Jedi.

^👍 lol even the most seasoned driver would pass out from going that fast while turning, or literally crush his heart and lungs...ugh...

It is an interesting read, they treat it like a real car.

Rid of the V6 engine, and V8 it but use an aluminum block to keep weight the same, or up the super/turbo charged V6 for 1700hp.

Surely they can't keep increasing the engines power output because it has to be limited to be driveable to an extent. It'd be interesting to see how far they go.

The fan used to draw out the air from the underfloor was improved. The X2010 utilized a simple fan using only rotating blades, but in the X2011 the fan now takes on a two layer structure using static blades added behind the rotating blades to improve efficiency.

Due to the improved efficiently it became possible to reduce the speed of the exhaust fan, resulting in less loss in drive power for the engine. This has improved engine output by approximately 5%.

Which equals out to power gained in the X2011 over the X2010.

How much money are PD throwing at the X201X BS. I'm assuming car design isn't cheap, especially getting RBR to do it. Let's throw money as a car no human is physically able to survive driving!! It is idiotic. Watch a reply of it, it even looks unnatural and cartoony. It doesn't even have any events for it. Pointless pointless pointless.

Now while it may be impossible for a human to drive it (except maybe Batman), what if they started driving a real lifesize version remotely?

I like the idea of it, but I hate driving it.

I hope they continue with this sort of idea, developing "concepts" and improving on them each year... how about an FGT12? Or a wholly new design for a road car?

Great, an even faster troll-mobile...

Cool slogan for X2011 promotion (it works to X2010 too): "Want to know if there is life after dead? Drive an X2011 and you will find out!"
:D

The thing i like about it is , if ya max out all the gearing , in theory it'll say MAX SPEED 620MPH :dopey: , gonna need a long road to do that

Oh it'll do 314mph in 5th with that gearing an all the Areo turned down to the minmuim :dunce:

This X201x project is something RBR (and probably some other people-teams) are using as a plan for the future of F1. I wouldn't be surprised to see a car similar to the X2010-2011 (just a little less powerful and sans the downforce fan) on track in F1 races within the next decade.

What better way for RBR and F1 to plan for the future then use a company like PD to virtually put a hyper racecar on track.

The X1 can't be driven? Tell that to pilots and John Stapp.

As for improvements for the next version, they hit most of the obvious aero things (at least what I saw anyway). At this point, they may just do more optimization iterations (this is how aerodynamics is done, estimate the best configuration "by hand" then have a computer check you so you can try again and/or have the computer work out a better configuration [that's not as simple as it sounds].)
