So i've been racing a lot on Mount Panorama with my Vulcan,
Racing cars in similar N range.
I've noticed that the AI tends to be as aggressive as people. (bumping, shoving, running off track.)
After the Esses section i've noticed that the cars become most aggressive and try to shove me off onto the chequered shoulder.

anyone else notice this?

Yes, I completed GT League and the AI is pretty awful. It seemed like there was always 1 ******** in a pink car that would divebomb me at every corner after I passed them. They constantly go off the track and magically catch back up by the next corner to do it again. Back to sport mode for me....

Yep, I've been run off the track and unfairly blocked numerous times by AI. Unfortunately, it seems they sometimes don't have any spacial awareness. You just have to bear this in mind and keep your expectations low. They do try to be respectful though, I think they just do everything (such as give you the necessary space) a lot slower than you would expect. Just need to be patient.

A small thing that has bothered me with the AI is how they brake. They tend to brake before and into the corner adequately, get off the brakes and start to accelerate around apex, but then for some reason... they brake once more at the corner exit when there is no reason to. It really annoys me, but it's just something I've had to get used to. It's most noticeable on the Nurburgring GT3 missions in campaign.

I'm aware that the AI probably follow some kind of pre-determined track layout. but they don't give space i find. even though im clearly in the right for my position, they'll transition to my spot as if it was empty and i wasn't there. literally pushing me completely against the wall until im knocked back by a few spots. its super annoying.

As for the second breaking out of a turn, i completely know what you mean, ive seen it done on a few tracks. at first i thought it was weird, then i thought maybe they're being tw*ts and wanting to front end me. but then i noticed that most of them do it. so its a bug with AI pacing i think.

Its very annoying, because i love doing custom racing for track learning and learning my car and its habits. (yes, cars to me have their own temperaments and attitudes and traits lol)

I'd say that's a big thing. I don't know what kind of algorithm they have going on in the background for AI pathing but it's not a good one. Mid-corner / corner exit braking has been the cause of countless restarts when trying for clean races against the AI. It's easy to anticipate but that makes it one of the more immersion-breaking things in the game.

And not just because of the braking techniques- because that same awful driver that may well be in the same car as you will still somehow manage to beat you down the straight and challenge for the lead when he really ought to be bringing up the rear with skills like that.

Makes it really hard for the uninformed player to recognize proper technique- good corner exit equals faster down the straight. If the AI doesn't lose time driving like that though, the player may never realize that.

I remember the times from GT4 where I did B-Spec Endurance races with the Minolta Toyota and it only ever recognized traffic to be lapped after it rearended it with like double the speed
I still think the AI has improved a lot and usually they left space for me most of the time when racing and trying to overtake at obvious spots. 👍

AI never leaves space for me, thats why i have no choice. either i try to nudge them and squeeze my way through, without pushing them against the wall completely. or wait for a wide open and hope i can draft past everyone... :(

They aren't agressive, just dumb and prone to error. Very poor AI was always a problem on GT series. They simply race like if you weren't there. The only difference is that they didn't make errors on the first titles, and now some of them make a lot of unforced errors.

For example, yesterday, on a Clubman Cup racing on Nurburgring GP, a BMW M4 came out of nowhere and passed flying right on my right side, when I was starting to turn to first corner, he didn't brake at all.

In the very last campaign mission (Nordschleife GT3 4 lap), we were three cars in the Carousel and one of the AI made an unforced error and spun out. It didn't end well... :scared:

Part of the problem is they dont seem to be able to handle racing lines. I have noticed that half the time if you go take the inside on a corner while overtaking AI they tend to not be able to handle the new braking pattern for the outside and go way wide. Also, they dont seem to really change their braking points when they come screaming in with the boost effect.

On another note, how about how they are anchored to the track? I was running a Audi TT race the other day and was wrecked out a few times trying to pass the AI, and on the last corner i was significantly behind 1st so i said screw it and tried to divebomb the leader off the track for the win. (How dare the AI better me!!!) I think I broad sided the AI at 100+ mph and the car DID NOT budge while i flew all over the place. I think this is part of why they are so dangerous. A collision with the AI is 9/10 times more likely to be one sided and leave them unaffected.

Yeah, you can play around with them too. In the Premium Sportscars race, I deliberately shoved the Veyron off into the infield at the tight Turn 3 lefthander. As I was heading around from the Budweiser Balcony building, I saw him in my rear view mirror firing himself across the track, straight into the dirt on the outside of the track, but by the time I'd got around to the back straight before the long final curve, he was 2 secs behind me again, and closing fast. Some circuits, you can just pull away when you take the lead, but others have crazy rubber banding on over-aggressive leaders - the replays of their recovery are comedy given how long it always takes me to recover from the Willow dust.

I just want to know how I can go in the race with a a modded out car with 100 more hp than the rest, and theres always that one rabbit who can seemingly make time up on me out of nowhere.

Then if he gets close he'll ram me or run himself off the road.

With the boost function active, Only the final corner and straight matters. Its annoying.

Oh man, can't believe they still do this. I swore off competing against AI in GT6 for this reason. I consider it a major issue. Didn't play GTS enough to experience it.

its 100% annoying, thats why i race without boost. im tired of annoying corvettes or mustangs actually keeping up with my AM Vulcan :/ it shouldnt be.

you'll see it soon, everyone eventually does.
you then fit into two categories.

a) you get burned and hate it and go online or sport.
b) you try to ignore it and deal.
