AI got on my nerves!

I'm very frustrated with AI slowing down (almost full stop) as soon as i get close to it, it's just silly, there's no competition it just letting me pass. But what pisses me off the most, it's when it slows down, it happens in areas where i accelerate out of the corner or in the middle of a corner following the poor thing where contact is inevitable!

Is it something that's planned to be fixed, or this is the way it is and going to be?

Seasonal events is pretty much all i can play since no one likes my lobby setting, people come and leave few minutes after realizing that there's no driving lane or any other aids available...

Are you in any racing leagues? I think it might suit you 👍

Anyway the AI problem you just described has been there since the game's release.

👍 There are a good many leagues to participate in varying in skill levels. I highly recommend checking out the online competitions to see what suits your needs.

Sadly, that is the genuine quality of B-spec bobs in GT5, who often let the opponents pass you or passive at trying to beat them back on the track. This has been a problem since the release of GT5, not just after the newest update or patches done, and that's why people prefer taking part in general events in online.

I came across a funny one earlier, running in practice mode at Route X in a one make race with my Nissan Stagea Autech. After using lap one to shake down the car's performance I slowed down to let the AI past and get some relaxed miles on the clock after using a restore ticket on it.
After about 2 seconds I got very bored, so on the first main straight I decided to push draft the guy at the head of the pack. Got him up to 196mph and then at the bottom of the small hill he hit the brakes back to about 170mph. It's a completely straight bit of road!!! Even more odd is that he did the same thing at the crest of the hill!!

Major failure in the AI programming!

If you come up behind them pretty quick they tend to do that. But I noticed some of the cars put up a fight if I approach them slowly.

Any opponent will put up a better fight if you limit your potential. This applies to everything.

I'm allllllllllllllllllll the time in lobby where there's no driving lane and other aids and there's people joining, so either you dont have any patience, or you're putting some weird setup, like boost alot etc..

And I dont know if I would recommend you a league, in most league you're supposed to drive clean, and if you can't pass the AI clean you'll have problem passing other driver fairly because they also do weird stuff trust me. Try to pass the AI on the oustide works 99% of the time in GT5 since they are basicaly on rail.

Sadly I have given up hope that it will be fixed. I'm fairly sure that the first couple months of my GT5 life I had never seen this, around march(patch 1.06? ) they "improved player avoidance" of the AI cars and ever since then they stop as soon as you get close, completely eliminating any possibility of actually racing with them.

This is why it is so easy to pull outside of them in a corner and pass them, it's not that they are just on rails but that they actively brake for you when you get alongside.

Sometimes they'll do it even when you aren't alongside them at all, when following perfectly in a line or if you are way wide in a corner but still behind them. One of the things that kills me the most about it is that if I misjudge how early they will brake for a corner(or just miss my own brake point) and go too deep into a corner while avoiding them, they will slow way down so that by the time I recover they are still sitting there waiting for me, wanting to drag race me out of the corner and causing contact.

With care you can avoid triggering this behavior a lot of time but not entirely. They do not do it in Arcade mode, and I believe in One-Make races as well. I'm not sure how closely tied it is to the Aggressiveness setting.

This more than anything else ruins A-Spec for me.

?????????????

I host NO AID rooms all the time and it fills within minutes and stays full!

You must be doing something else wrong, ( Number of laps? I do 6 to 12 normally. Penalties? Put on weak, Boost? Off, Damage? Light. Rubbish Tracks for racing? TGTT, Kart Space or own tracks not good, don't stay on same track too long, VOTE every race)

I've been enjoying the AI in Arcade mode. With the right settings, you can exit the corners with the pedal to the plastic with the AI inches in front of you and they actually pull away with the horsepower. Very realistic. Wish they had it for GT mode.
