I'm having a difficulty finding a perfect level of AI difficulty for me. I tried using the Intermediate difficulty instead of Beginner and Professional, it was too easy and then I tried using Professional and it was too hard. What I really need is the difficulty in between Intermediate and Professional. That would be perfect for me.

I've tried tweaking AI aggressiveness and that didn't help much.

Any ideas on how to do this?

You will have to go to Options under GT Mode or Life and change the AI in arcade settings from a scale of 0 to 10. The higher the value, the more aggressive they are. I find it more exciting when they are aggressive.

I still fail to see any change in the arcade AI,they are still so incredibly easy,on proffesional,10 on the aggro scale with g25 and all aids off...they just drive like tanks, wont compete for position and i can overtake anytime i want in a far underpowered car.

Oh wait, that's not the case. I just used a different car, the story is different. I'm guessing it depends on what car you are using. :boggled:

Tanks is a good way to describe them. Is there any plans for PD to make them so they're subject to the same physics we are? I'm getting pretty tired of having an AI slam into me, spinning me out while they just go on like nothing took place, and when I try to do the same to them it's like trying to move a wall.

Hi there!

Here is what I found out about AI in arcade mode and how I handle it in order to set up competitions that rock:

The strongest measure from my point of view you can take in order to control the opponent's AI is to choose proper cars and - very important - the most suitable tires for them:

I only use cars that I did not tune at all (because the AI also only puts untuned cars into the grid). And I choose tires that match the car's specifics (*). E.g. For the BMW M3 Coupe '07 I choose the hard sports tires.

*) Important: Choosing the tires at the time when you set up the arcade race influences the kind of tires (and even the type of cars) the AI chooses for the opponents. So, if you choose any car with hard sports tires the AI will choose different cars than if you choose the same car with soft sports tires.
When changing the kind of tires at the racing screen (after the grid has been loaded) does not influence the opponent cars anymore.

Additional Settings:
AI's aggressiveness (Options Menu): 10
Difficulty: Professional
Driving aids: None except ABS which is set = 1
Grip: Realistic
Usage of tires/fuel usage: On
Damage: Heavy

I set up a new thread called "GT5 Arcade Mode Race Highlights" in which I post and would like others to post thrilling arcade race setup recommendations:

Am I the only one who noticed a major improvement in AI? They really battle for position now. Try to make overtakes in all kinds of ways: outbraking someone, sneaking up the inside, breaking earlier and taking a wider line into the corner.

Furthermore, they finally back off if someone had an accident on track, or when an overtake is just too dangerous.

Last weekend I did the Gran Turismo All Stars championship, and I really had my hands full with the Pescarolo in my 787B.

I'm not saying the AI can't be improved anymore, ofcourse it can, but since the spec 2 update things got a whole lot better.

Hi Gamerwillz,
I am in the exact situation as you. I can come in first on Intermediate AI in Arcade mode but on Professional I cannot even get to top 6 position at times. I was hoping there is a in between AI difficulty. I also very puzzled why GTP gamers here are all so skillful as most said it is too easy to beat the AI. Imagine that for me the AI on professional setting is really super hard to beat...I also begin to wonder why PD don't let us adjust the AI nos.. I seriously feel that if we can drop AI to say 10-12 instead of 16, perhaps the screen tearing and jaggies issue can improve as well.

Yes your the only one because PD made no changes to the AI in career mode whatsoever! It's all in your head lol.
P.S I haven't noticed any great improvement in the arcade mode either, 1st car may be quicker but it's all still way too boring and scripted imo.

I'm sorry but I don't remember the AI going three wide into a corner before spec 2.

You're not using an overpowered car are you?

A stage 3 turbo'd Sauber will still smash the AI cars even at level 10.

I find arcade mode versus Pro to be a lot of fun, if only arcade mode gave CRs and XPs.

I can pick a car I like and a track I like and the AI isn't blown away in the first 3 turns. I guess there are advantages to not being uber skilled afterall.

This. I was also one of those 3 wide into the corner and they didnt back off the throttle like before spec 2.0.

I can confirm this too... its different even in some situations on Aspec. Not as dramatic as Arcade tho.

I agree that AI even in A-Spec handles situations alot better than before, what A-Spec needs is either much tighter regulations and/or tuned AI cars. Also the B-Spec drivers have improved in their decision making skills as well. Pre update in a evenly matched car or a over matched car the Bob would get stuck behind a slower driver or just slam into the back of them, now they move over accordingly and make the pass. (the overtake button actually hinders this now)
