So, I'm doing the Super GT seasonal event with 600 PP maximum allowed.
I'm in a Honda HSV-010 and so far I've managed one gold trophy finish. I realized very quickly why I wasn't able to place better than second elsewhere- the AI has a 'secret weapon' at its disposal- the Xanavi Nismo Z '06.
So, to level the playing field, I buy one and guess what? It has more PP than is allowed. Even without an oil change, it has 604.
Now, I do make up ground on it in my Honda but not enough to beat it. Should I just keep selecting a race and pray that it doesn't show up on the grid? :grumpy:

Same scenario when I tried the DTM event- my CLK has too much PP yet I guarantee I'll see it on the grid.

You can also drop the downforce a bit from stock on your Xanavi and see if that works. What does the Opponents List say the PP is on the AI Xanavi?

I don't know if it says anything. Just has the name of the driver and the model name.

I mean the one before you enter the race, from the seasonal menu. That lists the cars the AI will drive and the PP that they will have in the race.

Yes that car is over the PP limit in the Typical Opponents list. But it doesn't really matter since it drives like it's only 550PP. As long as you don't get held up too bad on the first couple laps it's not too tough to catch.

What I could never understand was why that car is so bad in the 1,000. It starts off fast like in the short races but after pit stops begin it turns into a complete turd and just gets in the way of the fast cars.

I can get close with the HSV-010 but never actually win. I almost beat it with my own Nismo Z on SSR5 but messed up on one of the corners.

According to PD's description, the Nismo Z is very good at cornering and has the most torque out of any of the cars but it has a low top speed as I found out on the Eifel circuit when I was going down the straight and started slowing down while the Petronas SC430 was still pulling away.

If its like previous situations like this it will show it being over with the PP, 604 or whatever it its at.

I detuned my HSV to 330hp(no turbo, no oil change or engine mod), lowered rear wing to 48, softened the dampers to 1 and used a 4.4 Final Drive Max 294km/h. 537PP still beats the Z.

OR when in the European Championship , you try to use the FORD RS200 ..the game blocks you..then as you enter the race..the AI is using...a FORD RS200 ...this is ARGHHGGG!

Ah yes, this reminds me of GT4. Remember the Schwarzwald Liga B? Dunno if that's the one, but it's an event where you are restricted to 300HP. Well, I remember one of my opponents as driving a BMW M Coupe, a car with... 328HP. I guess this is PD back with some old tricks...

Well, part of the game is beating better cars than yours. That's when the real drivers appear.

The '05 Impreza in the 4WD Challenge is a tad too fast in my opinion. I was in a 4.2 Audi R8, doing 185MPH on the Mulsanne Straight, and he was right behind me....in fact he was GAINING on me! How?? Do the A.I. tune their gearboxes now? Upon watching the replay, I saw he was reaching 190+MPH. Wow... cheating or not, that's nuts!

that's a tad fast for an imprezza, even if the AI is allowed to max tune.

The beauty of Strong slipstream :D

And yes, they do tune the gears now! No more auto-rinsing muscle cars etc:nervous:

Off topic, I did manage to beat my friend around the 'Ring in an i-MiEV. He was driving an Insight LS.

Uh, no. Surely part of the game is to play fair. That's like saying part of the game is to beat a Z06 with a stock M3.

But that all of a sudden becomes easier when that Z06 has a stock setup while you are able to add racing suspension, differential, and racing transmission and modify your setup. With racing cars its even easier to overcome differences in performance with setup.

this isnt about beating a better car..this is about using the car i like and being denied...yet the game uses it...

This brings back so many memories of that one event in GT2 that limits the horsepower to 295HP, and occasionally there would be a Ford GT40 on the grid, packing 310HP. That cheating slob got trounced by my Citroen Saxo rally car after numerous attempts.

You weren't restricted to 300. It was simply that the cars you could use had to have under 300 when they were stock; but pretty certain you could tune them to over 300.

The Opel Speedster event was a lot worse, because all of the AI cars had more horsepower than you were physically able to have.

LOL- that's the way to do it though, right? If the AI is constantly 'bending' the rules, it's only fair that we should too 👍
