AIM Alternatives

AIM's never been all that great with the noisy ads and the bits that want you to sign up for AOL cluttering up the desktop and HD. So, I was wondering what kind of good AIM alternatives there are. I've tried gAIM and Trillian, and extensions like AIM+. Everyone seemed to like DeadAIM...before you had to pay for it. So, I was wondering what other alternatives there are out there.

But it's so annoying getting deadAIM set up, with AIM Ad Hack, you just run the install file. It automatically downloads the proper version of AIM and installs it, minus the spyware and ads and stuff. It's so freaking easy. There's nothing DeadAIM has that AIM Ad hack doesn't, except for conversation logging. I can live without it. however. If you never try it, you'll never miss it, though. So if you're going from regular 'ol AIM, then just go for AIM Ad Hack.

msn sucks nowadays. If I try to send or recieve .exe files it says that its potentially dangerous or malicious and so wont allow it. It gets on my tits.

Rename the *.exe file to *.exe.old for the transfer and then rename when it's sent...?

:odd: and AIM's isn't? :dopey:
gAIM sucks, you can't do file transfers with anyone who is using AIM, only other gAim users, maybe Trillian users.
