I was looking through ebay and I saw some assault rifles on sale, M4, 20$ US, I look, it says AIRSOFT, what exactly is this? Tagball guns? Paintball guns?Do They work with springs, air, or other stuff? Can it be used in tagball arena?

I went to some forum but they don't explain the "sport" in itself.

If this is supposed to be in the sport forum say it but it doesn't get much attention so..!

The Airsoft premise is exactly like paintball's, however, instead of your weapon using a "paintball" the Airsoft gun shoots 6mm plastic BB's. The fire rates can be extremely high, sometimes in the 15 shot's per second range, and shoot very fast. Usually around 300 feet per second for indoor use, and well above 400-500 feet per second for outdoor use.
Usually Airsoft guns are powered by battery and a spring mechanisim. Pistols on the other hand are usually powered by compressed gas.

At $20 for a Airsoft gun, you will be getting a very cheap gun that probably will not perform anywhere close to the specs that I have listed above.
Usually, quality Airsoft rifles range in price from $300-400 USD.

Here is a link that will detail what an indoor Airsoft arena is like. I have actually played here on several occasions and the most recent being last week when I was out there for a friends wedding.

airsofts are friggin awesome. my uncle trains the new cops at the police station and stuff...and all their training guns are airsoft i think. it was either soap or plastic pellets.

i saw on oln or the history channel or something....a bunch of guys playing wargames with fully automatic airsofts. looked like fun. lol.

God yes. This comes up as soon as I have been obsessing over getting one. Airsoft are BB Guns, and they are replicated to the finest detail. They usually look exact.

A few good guns there. I might be getting one, but not from this site.

Not exactly cheap though. Average prices range from $250 to 400 with some getting into the $1000 range. Factor in the price for extra mags, batteries, charger, BB's and whatever else, you're looking at close to $800 to get started.

But high quality stuff.

And if you're looking for something cheap, go to my link above. Convert the prices from Euros (roughly around the same price in $US anyway), and shipping fees. The average price would be around $50. And these are good quality guns. Keep in mind though, they are only Pistols and a small Uzi. If you're looking for Machine Guns and what-not, don't go to my link.

Well, my buddies used to have them. Let me tell you, they're quite painful in typical day clothes. If you get a better quality one, don't dare shoot towards the face of anyone, it WILL leave a mark. It's like a terrible bee sting that leaves a nasty mark for a few days.

That's my aim!

Wow! Thanks guys,

But up here in quebec we have TAGBALL arena, they use guns that ressemble to paintball guns, barrel, gas bottle and a ammo box on top, to me it's ugly, but paying 300$ of my money for a gun I don't think I could use elsewhere than at halloween to steal bags of candy is too expensive, I might try the 20$ to see what it's like and if I want more than I'll go bankrupt.

Well, once ran across this site. Always thought they had decent guns for sale, they might be expensive though. Fully working airsoft replica's. Especially liked the rail mod's they had. Don't know of any place where to use them, and it's pretty expensive just to get one for show :p (not to mention I'd probably have to fill out license x,y and z because it gets shipped, and because over here guns aren't daily stuff.
