All assists off while racing on a DS3. HOW do you do it?

When I am too lazy or tired to set up my wheel I have my DS3 layout set similar to Forza 3's default layout. Becuase I don't have a wheel for the XBox I got a lot of practice with that setup long before GT5 was released.

Learn to drift! :D

I use a DS3 with default buttons.

yes this!! once you learn to drift most roadcars are very easy to deal with, racecar aero still gives me some grief though lol, all cars I race with ds3 need setups though except most racecars which I avoid usually (other day was at the ring and other guys had LM's and I had a detuned RKM Mclaren F1 and I wasn't too far behind, if I had a perfect race a win was a possibility but I hate the ring haha)

try to "sense" the cars and be prepared to act quick
for example, when taking a turn in a powerful FR, countersteer to balance the car
It is not exactly instinctive, but also not much muscle memory dependant.
You ll find it is easy after all.

If your learning to drive without driving aids, I'd suggest you try a few laps in different types of car using the outside view. That way you can actually see how each type of car reacts to the inputs and get a feel for the cars. Then move on to using bumper cam or cockpit view.

Smooth driving with a DS3 is faster than driving like a lunatic and it should help protect your tyres. A tip for cornering smoothly is to push the left analog stick up and then push it along the rim of it's socket to steer. You can be much more precise this way.

Another "trick" is learning to drive with comfort tires. They really help smoothing out throttle, brake and steering control.
Racing Soft tires that most people seem to use are overkill, inhibit the development of proper driving and weight transfer control skills.

Throttle r2, brakw l2, handbrake right sitck up, reverse left stick down and i have the d-pad for the pop up menu system. It is about being smooth and not making too large or dramatic movement, you havt to be able to flick and brush to stick and be gentle with it. I race with all aids off in all cars. I quite pleased as well because as a DFGT driver it only took me two weeks to go back to DS3 after my dad moved all the furniture so playing with my DFGT is impossible.

he didn't ask for tips, he was just wondering how some DS3 players can drive good with a controller

Says the person that didn't post anything in this thread.👎
Next time you post, I encourage you to take the thought to post something constructive.

Us DS3 users can't simply say "because I do."
With us giving these tips, the tips can go along the lines of how we do it.

I imagine the TC isn't going to complain about the tips but actually use some of them since the he wants to know 'HOW we do it.'

Yep, I'm teaching a friend how to "free himself" from the Racing Soft dictatorship. RS tires really make the reactions of the car a lot less noticeable.

Sports Soft its a lot better for learning without having much problems, but the comforts really are the best school.

Super easy while using R2 and L2 as accelerator and brake pedals.

That's what I use. It's the easiest setup for me.

I didn't know people had trouble using the DS3. Maybe because I was turning off the assists from day one I was able to adapt to it much easier.

R1 L1 for shifting 💡
and right joystick for throttle and brakes (ideal for cars like the enzo).👍
X and square for open wheel cars.💡

with cars above 200 kmph I always use ABS.
i never use abs more then +1 just like traction control.
