I'm just telling him how to spell words. What's the harm in that?

There is no harm, but the manner in which you corrected him is not in any way constructive. We understand he cannot spell, you do not need to critique him 5 times.
Then having the audacity to correct him again, when everyone else seems to understand what he means helps reinforce that you have the mentalities of infantile child. For the record 'BTW' is an acronym that is also not allowed on GT Planet; if we want to be pedantic. Which you are being.
What's wrong with saying BTW? And I'm trying to help him so next time he needs to spell those words he knows how to spell them. And sorry, I can't stop myself from saying this: It's GTPlanet, not GT Planet. Ok sorry .Jake. and sorry everybody. I'm think this thread is getting a bit off-topic so we should get back on topic before the moderators come...

It only went off-topic due to the way you treated the topic creator in the first place, kind sir.
As far as I'm aware, the word 'Planet' is separate from the acronym 'GT', unless you were to say it 'Gran-TurismoPlanet', that surely can't be right.
I didn't know this was english class...
It isn't, but every member agreed to the AUP on signup. It's not optional. Being from a non-English country doesn't give one carte blanche on spelling - we do understand there will be some spelling errors, or if a user uses a translator, some improper syntax. But simple laziness is different. Funnily enough, we have plenty of members that type English better than others who claim it as their first language.
We also have members of staff with extensive experience working with dyslexia, which is one of the most common defenses on the internet (along with Aspergers). While it definitely crops up legitimately, it unfortunately has become a bit of a fall-back for others.
I'll also point out that there's nothing here stating internet acronyms are against GTP policy.
