All is now becoming clear - GT5 was released nowhere near complete!

Good question though in some ways it is true. You could adjust the gears in the adjustable transmissions. You could have more than 1 tune saved on your car and there were some of the famous dealership events.

And of course they did have some leaderboards if only for stock tuned cars.

All in all GT5 is a much larger game than GT5P but it is missing some stuff that would need to be there to call it complete. I have no Idea what GT5P looked like at first though. The first I played was Spec III I think. Whatever it was all the updates were already done for it.

And th etruth is neither GT3 nor GT4 needed nor had updates. Where exactly did wheels start to come off the bus?

Sure Prologue had the ability to adjust individual gear ratios, 3 tuning profiles and leaderboards. But it did not have damage, tire wear and fuel consumption, dynamic weather and lighting and car customization, to name a few. Online was also mediocre in Prologue.

Dealership events in Prologue is also present in GT5. A-spec one make race in practice mode.

Tire wear is barely in GT-Life mode and not done correctly where it does make it's brief appearance. Hard Race and Soft Race last about the same number of laps in A-Spec and as far as I can tell the Hard Comfort may not last much longer. There was a huge margin of difference in these on GT4 resulting in much strategy where in GT5 Soft race on everything in every race if you want and no ill effects.

Re-Fuel has some issues as well. It takes way to long to fill the tank in the pits.

Damage does not show up on your car when you look at it but does when other people look at it plus it magically dissappears after the race. This is incomplete at best. It probably only made it in at all due to people expecting it.

Is there XP and prize money in these one make races? Do you win a car for Gold? Or is it just a practice race with no prize? If the latter then it is not like the dealership events. If there is a prize then I will need to go check them out.

You miss the point entirely. Having a few features that are mature and functional actually means that the title is "more complete" than a title with more but UNFINSISHED features.

GT5 simply "has more stuff" than GT5P did. But it does not mean that it includes all the stuff from GT5P and then has more added - which it should - afterall, the prologue was to entice people to buy the final - It was classic bait and switch, which BTW if proven to be intentional can and will be used to succesfully litigate against Sony and PD for false promtotion and advertising - even though they have a copout clause that says 'features may not appear in final game" - they are tricking reasonable people into believing that the features they are trying out, will be part of the final package.

Dealership events in Prologue is also present in GT5. A-spec one make race in practice mode.
And these earn you credits and XP?

But lets approach your position with a logical question:

Please explain why it is good for the title, franchise, consumer and the comapny to release a prologue preview with XY & Z features - then they SELL the preview to people using the presence of X,Y & Z as promotional material.....

Only to drop X and Y features and severly reduce the Z feature but add A, B, C and D but do not even bother finishing A,B, C and D?

Why is it good that they chose this approcah and why should we as repeat paying customers accept it?

I just wamt to try understand the rational behind all this? No arguments at all, just trying to understand how this development lifescyle is good.

I never said it was good for the franchise that they removed certain features that were already present in the preview. I disagreed with your opinion stating that Prologue was was more complete, because it i believe it is not, due to the reasons I posted above.

Please elaborate on how they used the oh-so-important XYZ features as promotional material. The only thing I see mentioned on the amazon page for Prologue is the online rankings. Not even the box on my Prologue mentions anything about leaderboards. Could you please tell me if there's anything listed at the amazon page for Prologue that isn't at the final build?

Looking at your 4 posts, you are obviously a troll :/

I still think it is a great game and I sincerely hope they continue to address issues via update.

That said I am surprised at the level of incompletion I see in the game. Some things are awesome but some of the little things that should be there are either not there or not working properly. They also talked about the depth of the online system. I was expecting more than what we see. The msgboard, mail box and such is cool but I was expecting to maybe have some actual events online and certianly some kind of PP system since it was in GT5P as well as more options to restrict entries into online races. And of course credits for online races.

Of course I also fully expected to be able to race on the track I created with my friends online and to lend my Bob or race him against others. These things are supposed to be there but are clearly not done yet.

Still I am happy to have the game in my hands and have these things come via updates over time rather than wait months or more to get a chance to play the game.

You can polish a turd, actually. They did it on Mythbusters. 👍

Why would you guys play with turd, that's pathetic. If it is such a turd to you then throw it away!

I for one think the game is great, some improvements may be needed like any other game, but that's it!

And the truth is neither GT3 nor GT4 needed nor had updates. Where exactly did wheels start to come off the bus?

With the conditioning of the gaming public to the concepts of incomplete games, patches, updates, DLC, and online gaming as the real game and not the single player or career experience.

The more I see of GT5 and the statements Kaz has made since its release, the more convinced I am that he has embraced this concept as well.

If so, has this been forced on him by Sony, or did he conclude it on his own?

I'm beginning to believe that the wheels didn't come off, rather they were taken off.
I can't come up with any other viable explanation why, GT5 in so many areas, is lacking to the extent it is.

Possibly we should have seen this coming with the new gen consoles edging closer to PC capabilities. These practices being commonplace in PC gaming since practically the beginning.

Anyway, thats my latest theory. Unfortunately if its true, we may have seen the last of the great GT games as we knew them.

A few disappointments with this game.
Sounds being most sad to me.
painting options, you have to buy a car to get the color available to you once? really? lol who's idea was that?

I agree that the game is not complete but PD was out of options. They delayed the game 22 days and people freaked out, so there really was no option but release a 75% complete game and hope to patch it.

Good point - but by the time we got to the 22 day delay, it was far too late for them to really make any deadline hehe

How could they be working on a game for 5 years and not complete it?
Now that I have played the game extensively I can say that I don't see what took 5 years, certainly it wasn't the sounds, customization or events.

So all of those cars, those 70+ tracks, the physics, and the graphics, and the 2 other projects (GT5P, GTPSP) didnt look to you like 5 years in the making?

Like I said a few pages back, in those 5 years they also worked on Tourist Trophy, Prologue and GT PSP.

It wasn't the sounds? Not hearing the blipping of the throttle as you downshift? You have to give it to PD for the much better engine sounds compared to previous GTs.

EDIT: Someone beat me to it.

A game can always be repaired to become better and more respected.
Many PC sims have done this. While the audience may be smaller, I wanted to use those to make a point.

I honestly am living the game but I do see what everyone is complaining about. Except online since I don't go online. As for the paints it has to do with the trophies for it. Collect 256 colors so that is why they probably won't change that. Everything else I have no idea. They also talked about PS Home integration but no one has mentioned that. Basically a lot of broken promises. I think Sony had a lot to do with this. Sony has broken promises before so I think that is true of GT 5 as well.

Well if they had not been hyping it for 6 years then people would not have freaked out. GT5 as it stands would have been a great PS3 launch game.

I think the often quoted phrase 'Kaz has lost his way' is really the only appropriate one. Sony forced out GT5 because if they had not then I am not sure it would ever have come out.

Unless someone Project manages Kaz and the PD team, then the time between now and GT6 will give everyone lots of time to reach both level 40s.

Not when your competition is releasing three games in the time you released one. That's great 1000+ cars and uncompressed graphics from GT4, and 899 cars that nobody wants. 5 years of game development should have brought out WAY MORE than this, at least in the real world. 💡

Yeah, I agree it is pretty mind boggling how PD wasted 5 years and still couldn't release a finished game. I think they know they dropped the ball and hopefully this game's shortcomings will only make PD work that much harder and make GT6 that much better.

Yes, the game was overhyped. Too many people were expecting the greatest game ever and it wasn't so obviously people will be disappointed, but that's more of a Sony thing. I mean they said it would be a "Revolution in Racing." However, I disagree tha GT6 won't be released within the next three years or else PD runs the risk of becoming a hasbeen.

I think that in time, everyone will discover that the well thought out critiquing of GT5 will be adequate project management. As with all things GT, we'll see, but we are getting updates about every couple of weeks so far, and eventually the need for them will be less frequent.

If you're saying that the Standard cars are useless, you need to understand that this view is only held by a portion of the GT5 buyers. Very heated arguments have happened between both sides of the aisle over this issue, and it isn't dominated by the Premium supporters. I like Standards, but I'd be insane to state my opinion like it was universal. Don't speak as if everyone agrees with you, because you will get called on it almost every time. I'd also say that speaking as if GT5 has GT4 graphics in HD is pretty lame. There have been enough screengrab comparisons in here to shoot this down.
