On certain tracks the GT3 is faster.
 
And on some tracks a McLaren F1 is faster than a Formula 1 car, so what. The Turbo is the car that competes with the likes of the entry Ferrari's, the old Turbo went up against the 360, the new one goes up against the F430. The Turbo has always been more powerful, faster and more expensive than ther GT3, if you want a faster 911 than the turbo you'll have to wait for the GT3RS and the GT2.
 
McLaren F1 is not faster on any tracks than a F1 car...

Ferrari must have dropped the ball with this F430 as its just not posting the times one would expect of it.
 
Yes it is, and no Ferrari did not drop the ball with the F430. So far all we have is the standard coupe and cabriolet models yet it can compete with the Ford GT and beat the Lambo Murcielago, the F430 challenge stradale will be the track day model of the range and that should be quicker than the 911 Turbo, but it's probably not arriving for a year or two.
 
What track was the race done and what was wrong with the F1 car. Was it a minardi or something.

I would tell you, but it's really, really obvious ;).

And no, Ferrari didn't drop the ball, it's less than 1 second off the 911 GT3RS there, thats a car that's up against the challenge stradale's. On the TopGear track it was only 0.6 seconds off the GT3RS and it was faster than the Lamborghini Murcielago, and it was 1 second off the Ford GT.

Actually now that I think about it ferrari didnt drop the ball. The f430 is an improvemnt over theyre other cars. Its just that ferraris arent all that fast in the first place to begin with. Too much posing me thinks.
 
If you want a track focused F430 wait for the challenge stradale, then see who's quicker. Thoes 3 cars though are pretty close in every test, the Ferrari is the least powerful and it's weight isn't much differnt to the GT..

Well the last GT3RS matched the 360CS, I think it won't be far off either way.

It depends on what you see as high revving.Im thinking of around 9K.

BMW and Audi spent alot of money making their V8's rev. The koenigsegger is unreliable snd I dont know how high the radical revs to.

Proof please because I doubt you've driven a Koenigsegg long enough to know what's reliable and what's not.

You're Hockenheim times prove nothing because the F430 ACTUALLY could have beaten the Murcielago considering it was less than a second off. In real terms, they're actually very close.
 
Can we not all agree that it is going to be a VERY close race for the top positions? IMO, it is going to come down to the track, who is behind the wheel, and what the weather is like.

On most tracks, it will probably be a very close race for the top two positions between the 997 Turbo, Z06, and M15. From there, it really is anyone's race (maybe not the M6's, but someone has to come in last).
 
In perfect conditions the 997 turbo has a excellent chance of coming out on top. In not so excellent conditions the 997 turbo will come out on top. Also remeber the Z06 spent a whole week testing and then rented the track out for an hour for itself to get a good time during the summer. Tyres and suspension setups were also switched.

The 997 turbo ring time was done with other cars on the track, the stock suspension setup and stock tyres in cold conditions. I wonder what time it will post in the summer officially.

Going back to the turbo/gt3 argument. Actually around a technical track - most tracks - GT3s and GT3 RSs are faster than the turbo, because they are lighter, more agile and much more track focused. This would all be in good weather conditions though. In the wet the turbo is KING.

No, the road version, it'll compete with the T400R and the T440R, it might be a case of it being slightly quicker than the T400R but slightly slower than the T440R, I don't see the T400R being quicker but I can see the T440R beating it.
