That's okay, RedOak. Feel free to express your points online and off. Not everyone will agree with you. We're all human. Just be yourself.

Now, it's okay to feel bad about this game for some reason. As I said, no game is going to be perfect. All I want GT4 is to be is in my PS2 playing away. I'll probably enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying "GTA: San Andreas" currently.

If any of you want to carry on, please do.

John's mentioning of GTA San Andreas has got me thinking about the paralels between GranTurismo and Grand Theft Auto. I've spent a fair bit of time in the GTA SA threads here on GTP, some of it before it was released, some of it after. During this time i've seen very little '*****in' about 'what-they've-missed-out' but plenty of praise for all the new additions to S.A. in fact i've seen little negative comment about GTA SA at all!

On the other hand, The GranTurismo forums are full of disapointment and negativity about GT4, maybe some of the new-comers to the series have nothing but praise for it, but then again it is (i'm sure) a absolutely fantastic game. BUT when you consider that GTA has evolved, even from what was a great game in the first place, to one beyond everyones expectations, GranTurismo, after the evolution from GT to GT2, seems to get better but not as much as its fans expect.

I believe this is probably down to Rockstar being more in tune with what its fans like and expect, where as PD appear to rest on their laurals, and continue to evolve GT in their own (KY's?) direction with little regard to what the hard-core fans expect.

I dunno, you find plenty of Whingers at any forum like this. Take Evo Web for instance, everyone was looking forward to Konami's newest installment of Winning 11 (Known as PRO Evo in Europe) everyone was exited, because there was a possibility of an online mode and all sorts of other features. When it comes out, tonnes of threads were made critisising how the game played, features they didn't like, no online mode etc.

Yer, but football (soccer) fans are natural born whingers anyway ;)

This is the main source of ranting about GT. IMO, it has failed to evolve and go forward like GTA did. The only difference between GT and GT4 is the graphics, the physics, more cars and more tracks. The AI is the same, the sounds are still questionnable, the World/Japan car ratios is almost identical, many of the tracks are the same, etc.

And don't tell me B-Spec, Nitro, Backfires and Photomode are evolution, they are barely fun gimmicks to hide the fact GT has not evolved at all since GT3. New AI, real new cars(not just another Skyline or EVO),damage, online, more opponents on the track, etc would be real breakthroughs. Now I realised these things cannot be done on the PS2 but common...Not to toot Forza's horn but at their first outing, they come up with damage, mystikal car makers, respectably balanced car lineup, online, real world tuning, 8 cars on track, innovative AI, good physics. This hurts.

Like i was saying about GTA SA and GT4, GTA has plenty of rival games, but still manages to keep head and shoulders above the competition buy giving the fans more of what they want. GT has only just started to get rivals, but they are already beating GT in many aspects. PD can add as many 'bells and whistles' as it wants to pump up GT's content - but at the end of the day unless they start 'polishing' all the little details that they keep missing, and adding some real 'meat' to the content, GranTurismo will become dead in the water.

Read some of my stuff in the GTA forum, from late October...

Yes but you are from Yorkshire - we genetically moan anyway

Shut up, no we don't. Gah I'm sick of people moaning about us lot moaning, I mean come on, I hardly ever moan. It just ticks me off that people say we moan.... ;)

BTW I loved John and RedOaks "nobodys perfect" and "we're only human" chat, I'm touched.

Define "important" feature?

2 player garage battles have been a big part of GT for YEARS, the old "my car vs your car" thing, especially when the game has the tuning and customisation capacity that GT games do. THAT is why it is important. Go on, try and disagree! I'm right. :D

GT4 has been such a long time coming its no wonder people are dissapointed when X isn't included. Its the same with any game, even more so when Sony & PD talk such crap. I can't wait to hear some of their terms for PS3 & GT5 technology.

Well it would take at least ten years to GT5s release anyways, why bother? (j/k... or is it?) He did say he wanted to include car damage somewhere... But the point is that he WANTED to... Not that it WILL be in...

I hope Forza is better than GT4 in that respect... If people get into Forza... Finally KY will have a reason to step up and improve GT to beat the competition... GT needed some competition cause it was a monopoly in some senses... No sim racing game came close yet...
BTW I also wonder how different GT would be if it was on X-Box too... Since X-Box has X-Box live... They would probably make you download such components as 2p Garage... And Online mode... And the endless possibilities of PD uploading updates on cars... new cars... People sending their car specs over to others.... I guess PS2 is the underdog online and offline for now... If Sony and PD don't step up they might lose their PS and GT fans to Microsoft on the next gen console battle...
