When creating on-line rooms, I feel the owner should be able to include/exclude all parts used to modify the player cars.

It would be nice to have that same control allowed within various categories that can be selected.

For example, if I create a room for RX-7's I would like to be able to allow or disallow each power, drive train, suspension, transmission, and body upgrade part each driver can or cannot use to reach the PP or HP level that has been setup for the on-line room.

This may enable users to come closer to evenly matching cars and create more exciting races.
The current system does not have that depth of control. It also insures that no one is cheating by using upgrades that cannot be detected with the current filters. 👍

Reminds me of Crash Team Racing battle mode where you could allow or disallow each of the weapon pickups. ^^

Why just online rooms if you could define your opponents, car tuning etc you could set up single player races to that are actually worth doing. Chuck in a slider for AI level or one that modifies its self based on your performance & your there. Win 3 it gets harder till you lose, lose it slowly gets easier.

That is already (mostly) covered by this suggestion: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/event-creator.297781/
It's a bit different for online races. On one hand, you need to set enough restrictions to create a reasonably even field of cars. On the other hand, you still need to leave the other players with enough choice to choose and setup a car they might like to drive (unless you're intentionally making a race with identical cars).

EXACTLY

Also if I select Ferrari, I should be able to select which model(s) I want to take part in the event. Now its any Ferrari.
What if I just wanted Scudies vs Corvette ZR1?

Yes, good idea. I've often thought it would be good to have some control of the various "add-ons" that can be used.

For example, if I create a room for RX-7's I would like to be able to allow or disallow each power, drive train, suspension, transmission, and body upgrade part each driver can or cannot use to reach the PP or HP level that has been setup for the on-line room.
Exactly this.

For instance it would be sensible if you could restrict a Road Car room to allow only sports exhaust/catalyst, sports computer and sports suspension (GT5). Since these could all reasonably be fitted to most real road cars.
In real life generally most of the cars in the game would/could not be fitted with stage 3 engines/chassis, racing suspension, adjustable LSD, triple plate clutch's etc.

(Come to that, why is it that you fit a sports computer to one of the old classics? It shouldn't be possible.)

Think of it as an air filter & jets or whole new carburettor, that's what we used to do before changing the chip.
Sort of overlaps a bit with intake tuning but that is different, if do that probably do the valves & head to in old cars so effectively a stage 1 tune. Some people of course go further.
Pipe & filter kit or carb was the basics, sometimes with huge gains as the car or bike was purposely restricted by them, old Ford RS2000 comes to mind as a big power boost for little money.
