The Petit Le Mans is this weekend. The entry list is decent, though I was hoping to see more European entries.
The factory Zytek is here and will hopefully have the stamina to fight the Champion Audis and Dyson Lolas for all 1000 miles. They have two LMES wins this year, so I hope their reliability is no longer an issue.
The best battle should be the Aston Martin vs. Corvette in GT1, with the ACEMCO Saleen and Maserati poking their noses in as well.
Unfortunately, one of the entries I was really looking forward to seeing, the Horag-Lista Lola LMP2 has been withdrawn after a practice crash with one of the Aston Martins. Intersport has dominated practice, ending up several seconds ahead of anyone else, so if the car is reliable, they should walk away with it.
Hopefully, the Panoz cars will be able to put up a fight in GT2 against the Porsches. Either way, with the Alex Job cars, the Peterson/White Lightning and Flying Lizard cars, it should be a great battle, as usual.
Anyone have any thoughts on this race? Any picks to win? Any favorites?
Even though there are only 30 cars and single digit entries in most of the classes, the racing is as good as anywhere in the world. We just need a few more cars.
EDIT: BTW, (and this is not why I started this thread) for anyone interested in LMP racing, there's a LMES-style 1000 kms. race that I'm hosting in the On-Line Racing forum. So if anyone has ever wanted to compete in a realistic LMP race, here's your chance.
