Best qualifying time for Race A is 0:59.359, which seems to have put me around the top 2k when I checked. Then I tried a round, and got a clean Q2/P6. Seems really odd that they’d have DR on, unlike most iterations of Race A…
I prefer race A to have some DR and SR on as it promotes better finishing and pushing you up will make it challenging rather than someone’s excellent time sticking them on pole time and time again rendering them a target 😁

I’m assuming the catastrophic drop was a DR reset?
SR and DR thanks to Le Mans... Then the nightmare continued at Catalunia, racing psychos; to be finished yesterday morning at Kyoto. One year of improvements trashed in one weekend 🤣. It is what it is. I'll recover, hopefully before Spec III.

Are you using the wall break at the final turn? Any tips for making it smoothly with maximum exit speed? I mightily struggle there and am stuck at a 58.8. Same for T1 If you could please
Yep using the wall to help slow down as there was no consequence for doing do. I’m presuming that won’t work in race though. The wall only gives a tiny bit though. I think most time was gained turn one. Getting a nice bounce, and then drifting through the corner gained most of the time.

Where I improved most was on gearing and gear change. Only use 4th and 5th. And don’t red line it. Shift up around in the 6,100 - 6,300 rpm range.

So poor, I knew the white car was going to hit you at that awkward chicane. Could see it a mile off. Hopeless.

I circled back to a few cars at Seaside during lunch and turned a 39.2 in the BMW, that feels quite a bit more competitive. I have been on three really strong laps in the beetle (1.04.7 at the 2nd split) but bin it at the COD trying to take it too fast. How you guys do it flat is totally beyond me but if I could i'd be into the 38s.

I do it flat because I time the brake/ downshift a bit earlier so car is already pointing fairly straight and weight transfer is also complete, otherwise I would be bouncing off from Kyoto to Tokyo 🤣

I have no words for the racing tonight, no words at all. Some words…just because the meta car looks like something from wipe out doesn’t mean it should be treated like that.

@TechnoIsLove all yours mate. I’m not quite as busy as you work wise but busy enough with it and home life that I don’t need to be punted from pole to last 3/5 races on the first lap in A/A+ or mixed A/B lobbies with all S SR.

I’m gonna go back to doing TTs for a bit, I don’t need to drive around at the back for multiple races and definitely don’t like the way people are driving at the moment.


Edit for cross post: @NevilleNobody honestly it’s easy with the new physics as long as you don’t turn in to late and quick on the cut right, it’s actually more tricky going slower as you tend to over turn the wheel

First, I set a new best qualifying time for Race A, specifically 0:59.115, so now I’m just a little within the top 2k.

(Also, fun fact: if you have Brembo brakes equipped, they’ll still appear on the car even when BoP is on. Seems nice for aesthetics, since I doubt they function like you’ve installed them when tuning is disabled.)

I then did another round of Race A. Got a clean Q6/P4, so that’s pretty good!

EDIT: I got an even better time of 0:58.941, placing me within the top 1.3k!

EDIT2: Did another round. Got a Q6/P7, but mostly because I hosed up that one corner that puts you back on the oval.

So @ElectricNaz gave me a bit of a shock this morning....

After the nightmare race at Kyoto yesterday, I at least went to bed happy to have improved from a 1:43:190 to a 1:43:125 - only to wake up this morning to see myself in P2 on the friend LB by having a 0.001 slower time 🫥 🤣 😅

But.... Noticed in Tidge's replay he was staying in 4th gear up the chicane right after sector 2, which gave me just enough (after a meh first 2 sectors) momentum to save the lap and improve my time 🥳😉

Well technically, he started it! Come on - 0.001 better?! That is a direct taunt which my proud Maltese bloodline doesn't tolerate 🤣 My parents would have disowned me and I would end up poor after a nasty divorce once my wife would learned of my failures! Couldn't have that happen, I like my house and car too much....

But a new one for me today, I got a fastest lap which didn’t register because a guy had the exact same time! Just because he got it first 🤣

I was playing race A for most of the days until I discovered that Race C is much more thrilling because of the weather change. I played Race C 2 times in succession. My preferred car is the 962C.

Have played race B a few times but I don't like the Barcelona track. Hoping tomorrow we get a more thrilling track for Race B as that's the race where DR & SR are at major play.

My fastest through the chicane this week, was in the R8evo. I lifted shortly as i was steering in and had a nice relatively straight line through it. Didn't touch anything and when i was able to look at the speedometer i was at 190km/h. That's good not great, but felt "safe" and repeatable.

I noticed that the long stretched curves (Catalunya the long right turn 3 and now race B both long left) became easier for controller users.

I liked race B a bit more last time, cause we were allowed to tune our cars. And i think the McLaren became a meta in the second half of the week last time. (but my memory isn't really trustworthy)

Big fan of the Z4 as well. Mine is a Jägermeister with the big grill in front

Seeing that the meta at Kyoto is now the Citroën, when 2 BoP ago was the Lambo, I'm wondering how do aliens know wich is the meta for any given track and category. I mean, surely no one has the time to test all cars. Is there some "stat tool" like that for CoD to know wich is the meta or, if some likes, "the fastest ttk"?

You’ll notice the last few Gr4 races the Citroen has started to be used based off of the bop in the last bop update.

In Gr3 they have done a better job and this is largely down to they only run a single drive train (RWD)

Gr4 is a bit weird with all th drive trains and body styles etc. but it’s really easy to do 19 laps in all the top bop cars and pick one, the Citroen has in its favour this week gearing and curb bounce, it’s just more consistent.

How aliens do their thing is a black box but I just assume (Occam’s razor) that they just do laps to figure it and probably have data here there and everywhere.
 
Yeah ran a Race C last night and was circulating alone so could really check my pace. I gain on guys ahead of me all lap then give it all back at the COD, so annoying.
It’s no consolation but it’s easier and a lot less scary in VR than the other cams.

The spec 3 update announcement has upped the players and let’s just say they are “not warmed up”

I did a few more races tonight and I have to say the main meme driver was in one of them and he is always fast but we raced no issues, some people took issue and well that is where that is.

My main gripe is how sweaty/uncalculating people are. It’s like feeding cheese to mice. Sure there is a gap for one car….but 2? When am I suppose to navigate the corner when you’re running to the racing line. Cool….

I think tonight has solidified to me, yes I can be quick but I don’t enjoy the racing anymore it’s just not racing, there is no spatial respect and lots of clumsy braking and I will say this is in lobbies that are 2nd split of an evening so I hold these drivers ability and thinking a little higher to account.

Honestly I can’t be bothered to put a sub 400 time in and be hit at the first corner 6 races in a row….
