I don't care what team he drives for, just let it be a 'fast' car... F1's house needs to be put back in order and he's the only one to do it. How I loathe Lewis Hamilton, but it seems Massa and Raikonnen are not the ones to shut him down... with 'freakin' Ferrari's, no less!

I still feel that Alonso is by far the most complete driver in F1 at the moment, its a shame to see him in such a poor car especially after the situation last year which was surely blown way out of proportion by the media.

But he must have done something to upset Mclaren and beacuse of this it is probably true that they were "slowing" his car down like they supposedly did to C Fittapadi.

Maybe its something like how the FIA is slowing Heidfeld down because of his beard?

How is Alonso the only driver who can put everything "back in order" when Raikkonen, Massa, Hamilton, Kovalainen, Heidfeld, Kubica, Rosberg, Coulthard, Trulli and even Barichello have managed to do what he hasn't and get themselves on the podium? More to the point, when did we lose order in the sport, and why does it need to be restored?

Exactly, great point. Let's not forget Sutil, who drives a FORCE INDIA, at Monaco who would most likely have finished on the podium had Raikonnen not lost the rear end of his Ferrari.

Also, for you Alonso fanatics, I believe Piquet Jr passed Alonso at the last 2 GP's, explain that if he is the so called Great One.

Piquet Jnr. makes him look better than he really is because Nelsinho keeps retiring or fails to score. However, as Junior's job is on the line, Alonso is driving slower so that the Brazilian scores points, retaining his job, and continues to nurse Alonso's bruised ego after being upstaged by Hamilton last year.

Well, you should say that the Sutil good position at Monaco was because of the rain. The three races he finished, the best he could do was 16. If there are not a lot of accidents or rain, he can't do anything with a Force India. And Alonso, well, he is in a "Censored" team (Bad car, bad pit strategy, bad weather guy...:yuck:) You know, you can't win 2 World Driver Championship being a bad driver or having a bad car...

Alonso driving slower for someone? Please! does he seem to be that kind of person?! He's probably the most selfish driver in the paddock!

I know; how else do you explain his demand that he is the number one driver when Renault is the only team that uses that setup (and only because Alonso is there)?

But he's not selfish to the average Alonso-ite. You probably missed it; my post was loaded with as much sarcasm as I could get in there, but the problem with forum posts is that there's no way to translate tone.

Most interesting... seems Santander (major Spanish bank who followed Alonso to McLaren) plans to leave for Ferrari in 2010.:)

Santander poised for Ferrari switch

By Jonathan Noble Friday, July 11th 2008, 16:53 GMT

Spanish banking giant Santander is set to become a Ferrari sponsor in 2010, high level sources have told autosport.com.

In a move that would heighten speculation former world champion Fernando Alonso is on his way to the Maranello outfit, Santander is poised to switch teams after its current exclusive arrangement with McLaren comes to an end.

The company originally joined the Woking-based team at the start of 2007 as it intended to make the most of the team's capture of Alonso.

However, the former world champion had a troubled time at McLaren and quit them to join Renault for this season. The Spaniard and his team are sponsored by Dutch banking group ING.

Alonso is believed to be holding out for a Ferrari deal, and has been tipped as favourite to join the Italian squad in the near future.

However, news of the Santander move in 2010 will only increase suggestions that a deal is in the offing with the Spaniard. Santander would be unlikely to commit to the team without some hint about Alonso's future plans.

A Santander spokeswoman refused to comment on the speculation, but made it clear on Friday the company was committed with McLaren until the end of next year.

"We are not making any comments about this," she told autosport.com when asked about the Ferrari deal. "We have a contract with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes until the end of 2009."

Despite Santander's planned future switch to Ferrari, there is a chance that the company could also opt to maintain some link with McLaren from 2010.

Although McLaren lost Alonso, Santander has benefited greatly, especially in the United Kingdom, through its association with Lewis Hamilton. This has been bolstered by the company's title sponsorship of the British Grand Prix.

Could they sponser 2 teams, like Marlboro did in the 80s and early 90s?

Probably. Honda got away with having no sponsors last year.

I don't think either team will be happy with their archrival sponsored by the same company - and neither will want less money than in an exclusive contract. Therefore, it'd have to be much more money from Santander to keep both teams happy.
