I camped inside of WalMart in the Garden center for 25 hours. We were warm, dry, and had plenty of power outlets. :)

The Walmart (Benton, IL) promised ten 60GB systems, but they received four 60GB's and two 20GB's. They gave out six rainchecks to make up the lack of 60GB PS3s. I was eighth in line (got there at 11:00PM Wednesday night) and got the second raincheck. We should be getting our systems in two to three weeks. :D

I also picked up CoD3.

Don't have one of my own, but it's gotta suck for the Palmdale Best Buy store campers. They were fined for illegal camping (pitching a tent) which cost them $400.

Then, to get rid of the tents, the store manager thought it wise to move them inside. Bad idea. Everybody ran for the new line in the store, and a mob fight broke out. All were told to leave by the sheriff.

At the Wal Mart down the street from where I live, a bunch of mexicans showed up to rob the people waiting in line. One guy got stabbed and an other beat over the head. Police ordered people to leave for their safety. Before doing so, only the first 10 people got a PS3 ticket that guaranteed them a PS3 at midnight. That's all the PS3s they had. Over fifty people were in line.

Ridiculous. I'm so glad I didn't make plans to camp out. I'm still clicking on various web pages trying to order one over the net. I know my chances are basically nil, but since I'm up I'll keep trying.

It's 12a.m. now and I crashed earlier today so I'm thinking of driving to Target and Best buy to laugh at all the retards waiting in line...

Does that count? :dopey:

Got any photos of your new baby, anyway Ebiggs don't forget about us Europeans who have to wait until March 07. Also did you try GT4 on the PS3.

Unless it's a photo of the COD3 box you want...

Follow Up To My Post

He-he, you know the 10 tickets Wal Mart passed out to the first ten people in line when the cops told everybody to go home? Turns out the store only had THREE PS3 consoles to sell. Now, that's gotta' suck.

The stupid Sony Style online store didn't have any to sell. I hit the refresh button for six hours straight, and the "ADD TO CART" button about a million times. I got jipped.

There's all sorts of horror stories from other websites I go to. This has to be the worst game console launch of all time. I think it's worse than the nightmare XBox360 launch.

Sony blew it big time.

Worse system launch ever. I'm serious. If a large store chain has 3 systems and others getting 10 or less Sony should have bittin the bullet and delayed the launch. Take all the negetive press and hate mail untill they can satisfy the people who the the system at launch. sony should have pulled a Sega Saturn move and quitetly release the system before the launch day. No lines no fuss.

I agree. What would have it hurt to delay the launch 30 days? December 17, or even the 20th. The 20th of December is a Wednesday which is better day than a Friday to release a game console. Shipping it out from an online store with 2 day service would have been perfect.

Plus, why jerk your customers around by not giving them ANY details about how many consoles their OWN ONLINE STORE HAS! Call up the Sony Style Store at 1-877-865-SONY, say "One" then press "3" when prompted and ask how many they have or had for sale. They don't even know! Plus, the PS3 link the automatic message gives you doesn't even exist!

So bloody stupid. Sony really, REALLY screwed up big time.

Good for you... you work at a store and got them all before the customer. Gee... I wonder what you're going to do next? would it include going to some place with an e, b, a, or y in it?

Turns out several employees ran off with the PS3 consoles at my local Wal Mart store. The store manager ordered the employees to give the PS3s back and they refused so they were fired on the spot, or so somebody at my local Wal Mart claims.

There are reports of a A LOT of eBay PS3 sellers who have several PS3s because they work for a chain store.

Hording by employees seems to have ruined the fun of the PS3 launch. What do you expect? They get low wages and a chance to make a profit for once is just too sweet to pass up.

Yes, and who's to say a store manager isn't liying about how many systems they got in. I've been lied to by Game Stop employes before. Trying to sell me an opened display game(TDU Xbox360) Yet there is a used one there and the guy tells me they dont have any used copies without event looking. so i got the used copy saved $10 verses getting an opend copy that could very well be used.

Smells like German Muscle is going to be selling the PS3's for over the top prices on Ebay.

Why is everyone so impatiant to get these things? I dont see the problem in waiting a few months for them to get adequate supplies. Why are people in such a hurry to blow 500 - 600 dollars on this thing? People are getting shot, stabbed, and robbed over these things; way to go America. Besides it's smart not to buy the first wave that hits the stores; give sony time to work out the bugs.

Exactly...besides, might even give Wii a chance for a couple of months until the PS3 becomes available to normal folk.

Can't imagine too many deaths for a Wii...

What's so hot about getting a console at launch date? History has proven that most new systems are 'buggy' and aren't worth it!
Imagine being one of the first few to get a new PS3...then having it for a few weeks before you start seeing 'issues' with it and then all the headaches of dealing with Sony support?

I'll be getting a PS3 for sure...but not until the next release of GT....so, like most here...I can wait! :D

On a side note: If I 'camped out' and someone wanted to rob me or steal my PS3...They have better bring a gun and shot to kill...cuz I know after waiting in line for over 24 hours would make me more PMS'd then most women get and I wouldn't put up with nobody's sh**! :D

My ps2 was the very first one that left the store on launch day all those years ago, and I have never had any problems with it. Perhaps mine was an exception to the norm.

It's easy to talk tough when you don't have a gun barrel in your face.

It's called eBay. If Tickle Me Elmos were going for $3000 on there you can bet your left hand that people would be stabbing and shooting people for them.

But then again, eBay also let me sell my original Xbox and old 360 games for $80 more than what I would've gotten at GameStop.

No pics of the CoD3 case for you guys. There isn't a shortage so its not worth the trouble of uploading to show you a game in a case.

people want to sell it back for money on ebay...i've tried but failed hehe

i got off work at 10pm thursday and decided to stop by walmart to check it out..i got to the layaway section and was #13. at 12:05 (according to my watch) two ps3 were sold and two rainchecks were given. they said that there were suppose to be 8 more on the way but was unsured when. turns out that the next day i went to work this dude said he bought a ps3 earlier in the morning. !!!!!!!!!! oh well. 1 1/2 hour wait isn't as bad as other people elsewhere waiting days and didn't get one.. haha

Awww...... It would be great if you take some pics of the game case and inside it, I wana see it properly not like the rubbish images of cases on the net.....

I was at Meijer for 6 hours waiting around for The employees to tell us how they were gonna choose who got them. Midnight rolls around and they said they're doing a raffle. Those who won got to stand in line. 140 people in the raffle, 4 spots raffled off for 4 systems.

3 people were in our group. 2 of us got picked :D (myself and my roommate). The chances of that happening were 3 in 10,000. Luckiest moment of my life.

We then got to wait in chairs in a corner of Meijer like quarantined people for the next 24 hours and we bought our systems and left. :D

Mine and my roommates PS3's were on eBay the next morning :o
