I recently discovered the Pantone colour of the year, they've been doing it since 2000, and decided to try it out on a few on some cars:
First up is an Aston Martin Vantage, which is painted in Mocha Mousse (17-1230), which was the 2025 colour of the year.
It's described as quote: "A versatile shade infused with inherent sophistication and earthy refinement"
For a first time thing, I don't really think it looks great, but it looks much better on the Citroen BX, since it has that kind of colour that fits on a car from the period, but I didn't take a picture.
HSV: 18, 39, 64
Next up is Greenery (15-034), 2017's colour of the year. I think it looks really nice on a 911 GT3 RS.
Pantone describes it as: "A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality."
HSV:
84, 57, 69
Next up is 2026's colour of the year, Cloud Dancer, used on this here Polestar 5
Described as: "a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection." - So it kind of works for an EV.
HSV:
48, 2, 94
Finally, there's Ultra Violet, which really works on this 996 GT3. Ultra Violet was the 2017 colour of the year.
Described as: "Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own."
HSV: 259, 46, 55
Has anyone else discovered alternative (I.E Not OEM) colour sources?
