Am i alone in liking the update?

OrangeR and DK just don't get it.

While both of you thrive for more realistic and difficult physics, you both fail at acknowledging that running S3 or Rx tires on any car will make any easy and this is where GT5P had it wrong to begin with. Put any street car on R compound tire and you won't even be fast enough to warm them up. S3 tires are basically cut slicks, you should not have been sliding all over the place like it was pre-update with any sub 500hp car.

The only thing that I'll give to your ever continuing rant is that PD made one mistake, and that was to not update the online races to reflect the more realistic tyre feel. The PP is also messed up and there should be restrictions as to the cars you can run in 750PP.

PD even put in a disclaimer when you put tires that EVERY car in the games come with VERY high grip tires and that the experience resulting of such is NOT going to be realistic.

You're your own problem, PD could have made it more obvious, I'll give you that.

I'm glad to read that we are starting to give something back instead of just take "sides" blindfolded on a situation. That is a better sign than start using terms "like those people don't get it", or "you people have a problem". That means that we are reading what other people think and a more helpful and productive effort could be obtained. Thanks for reading my opinions.

Now I'd like to clarify my "position" on the matter. GT series has been for me at least a very special game, it is a type of game I like to call aspirational, I played the game since GT1 on an mac emulator with a keyboard until I got myself a PSOne and a dualshock, Then PS2 and a DF wheel. Even though I played the game much and with different ways of controlling it one thing got evident for me, if I wanted to keep playing the game I had to put a lot of work on it, I had to learn to take better lines, I had to moderate my inputs, I had to restart oh so many times the same test to pass it, I had to drive a 24 hr race for god sake! If I wanted a certain car that was not available any other way (Ok I could do it on B-spec, but that is no fun) :) Then I wanted, aspired, to get all gold on the game, then make all 200-spec races, then have all the cars, then drive without end the ring, on any car combination available and yes test the cars on every tire compound, every time harder and harder.

GT games are ones you put a lot of effort and time, where if any lesson you could get out of a mere game and apply it to real life it would be never give up, effort pays, if you want it work for it. Now, with GT5p the challenge was up to par with the next gen of games, there are still events that remain a true test of talent, effort and patience in the offline part of the game. What has burned MY fuse is that with the addition of online to the game, instant gratification is taking every time more and more importance than the core particularities, in my view, that made this the most popular and loved racing game EVER. I for one never thought that the previous physics (tire simulations) were perfect, but they sure were challenging, true to the GT spirit as a game. Perhaps now the tire simulations are more real, true to life. I don't know, I should be a pirelli engineer to know for certain, but they are easier to handle, I think you can agree with me on that, this real feel perhaps is true to the sim spirit of GT.

I really think that GT has turned his head too much to make online game competitive (RBE, classes, etc.) I think we can agree on that too. I think PD has to make a more balanced approach between game/simulator simulator/game for the final GT5. How would they'll do that, I don't know perhaps not even they. (could this be the reason for 2010 release?) Anyway that is my rant, as you put it, I'd prefer to call it my opinion: I'd like to have a GT (GTsim+GTgame) that challenges me and amuse me on every aspect of it offline or online. A driving simulator that makes a hell of a game, not just one that let's me have podiums on any dream car I could think of fresh out of the wrapping packet—I'm no Senna, no Fangio, I know I have to work harder, there are other games for that, think of the Hamilton game to come from EA, not my loved GT.

Thanks anyone for reading this, specially you Div because I'm sure you'll do it. 👍

I was happy before the update, and I am even happier now. It may not be perfect but it is better in my opinion.

I can't wait to see all the complaints about what is wrong with the private rooms once they give us private rooms. ;)

Thats a true Racer's mentality, this works for GT, as sometimes people struggle with the more challenging aspects of GT, but when you get what you have been aiming for...it makes it worthwhile!;)
Great Post OrangeR!👍

Tell that to GT_fanatic :dunce:

Appreciate the response.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that likes GT5P better now. I had bitched about the tire simulation before, it was way exaggerated, i'm glad they fixed.

But god forbid, the so called hardcore guys would be pissed if you complained about the tires. "you suck" they would say.

Harder to control on a DS3 = closer to real life for a lot of people. I will never understand why they feel that way, but whatever. At least PD knew they had to correct, that's what matters.

the Vette and the Ford GT were a big pile of sh** before the update. Now i really like them, like it should be.

For those thinking "harder to control must mean closer to real life" just keep playing the Ford GT on N1 tires, and let us enjoy the good update we had. 👍

Hardly, both were and still are very fast cars in GT5P, my personal testing on Eiger with the R35 GTR vs Ford GT had the Ford GT on top in lap time, on a track that suits the GTR more (this is prior to the update)

I would disagree with you here. True, the GTLM and GT standard were both very HARD to drive, but with proper tuning and a LOT of practice, I was able to master them to the point they became my best cars, and were very rewarding to drive because of overcoming their difficulty. But they would always bite you if you got careless. The Vette was always easierthan the GTLM.

With the update I think they appear easier because of better tire grip, but the back end still comes around on you if you're not careful. Try the GTLM on HSR time trial with ASM and TCS off and Pro physics (max tires = S2), and see if you think it's still easier. 👍

I agree they were fast, i just didn't enjoy their handling. I'm not gonna lie, i've never had a chance to drive a Ford GT or Vette in real life, but i want to believe they behave more like after the update, as oposed to before.

I don't have a cientific approach on this one, but it would disappoint me if those cars were so unstable taking corners...

Anyway, I still want to see how the racing cars will be like. Hopefully the next update gives us at least one.
