Guys after looking through lots of pages on several sites, I am starting to think I am the only one who gets frustrated with the game menu times.

I worked out if you get to 1000 cars, and you change the oil, renew rigidity and engine, and tune with all upgrades, you will have spent more than 80 hours navigating menus alone. Menus with annoying load times and un-skippable animations.

That is over three and a half days navigating menus for no game play time. It would actually be closer to 100 hours unless you can speed click your way through every single screen/menu change.

If anyone else thinks you should be able to reduce these menu times (I have ideas how) could you please click on the Yes poll- I can't believe I am the only one who doesn't want to spend literally days sat navigating the exact same repetitive menus.

*EDIT* If you're here, please, take the time for 2 clicks for the poll! 👍

Well, 5 mins per car is not too bad. I'm not too concerned about the time I spend on rebuilding the car; an oil change should be more quickly done though.

And to be honest, I don't rebuild and fully tune all of my cars. The ones 'surviving' a quick initial drive will receive a rebuild, and out of those maybe 30% will be tuned to a certain extent.

Out of the ~900 cars I bought, roughly 20% I do drive, and out of those roughly 40% are receiving some tuning, and only a few will be tuned to the max.

I've hated GT Auto from the start and the "ooh you've got a new paint chip, you can blah blah blah"....EVERY sodding time I buy a car. I KNOW what to do with paint chips PD I don't NEED a reminder EVERY time.....by memory is better than a that of a gold fish.

<mini rant over>

No you're not the only one. I've done the same calculations myself and yeah it's hours and hours and hours wasted pressing buttons, waiting for animations etc. A checklist in the garage to check off all part and then press one button should be there. GT Auto should be a part of the tuning garage anyway, with no animations or at least you should be able to toggle them on and off.

Who is the idiot who said that he liked waiting so much?

A fella I saw who has been here 7 years and has no friends. Go figure.

I'm just a bit disappointed that over 100 people have come here so far for 11 votes. Is it that hard to click two buttons? Especially if you bothered to come to the page already?

Oh well. I kinda hoped if everyone else also wanted to create shortcuts like option to upgrade whichever parts at purchase point, change oil, renew engines/rigidity from online lobbies then we'd all get a lot of hours back and more game time.

If there were to be a strong response it may have been noticed. If it was a purchasable dlc option I'd pay for it!

I voted....

It is what it is.

Last nite, I drove for about an hour, and spent the next 4 or 5 hours reorganizing my favorite cars, painting, and taking pics in Photomode/phototravel. Had fun anyway...

FYI - Conducting a engine restore gives you a "free" oil change. Conducting a chassis refresh gives you a "free" car wash.

But still, there should be a option to do these en masse.

Painting car also gives 'free' car wash
RMing gives both I think!

I was just thinking along these lines the other night, as I went to fully tune a car. I don't always fully tune, but when I do, it would be awesome to just buy and install all the parts at once. 👍

If nothing else the game teaches you how to be patient. To incredible degrees sometimes.

As a person with 1050 different cars and some are dupes from 1000 tickets I know this to well.
At least I can now update preview image on all at the same time instead of the manual version I had to do on 800 cars when I had to backup my save.

Not sure weather its just me, i quite enjoy fiddling with the cars. I can spend a good couple of hours reading about the history of that model.
Plus in real life, cars take months of tuning/testing and fettling for only a few hours on a Sunday's racing - so be thankfull it only takes you five minutes of washing/tuning before you set out on the track :)

I also spend a lot of time tweaking, but it takes a lot longer to do that with all of wait!

Please don't get me started on loading times and menu navigation. I could be here for hours, and I have homework to do.

Matty that was how I felt. I see already there are seven people who voted that they like the time spent watching the same unskippable animations over and over and the loading times between them.

LOL. People would rather sit and navigate menus for days worth of hours than get on with business. Not new exciting things- the exact same mundane and boring meaningless animations. For hours and hours.

OK. I learnt something new.

I also see 325 people came here and 290 odd were too lazy or apathetic to go click, click with their mouse.

If more people who are like you and I could be bothered to click their mouse twice, a substantial result may just have expedited a patch that in my opinion is so needed I would pay for it.

It is not about complaining- it is about making a great game even better for the paying customers. Give us back some game time is my point.

After upgrading to a 7200rpm hdd, I experienced noticeably shorter loading times. Nothing record breaking, but enough to get me less wait and more drive. Thinking about a GT5 dedicated PS3 with an SSD, wonder how much more that would help...

Obviously, not any help with the animations. Only one of those that really annoys me is the car acquisition animation.

I'm not "lazy or apathetic." But I didn't vote.

Voting that you want shorter load times is a no-brainer. Who wouldn't like shorter wait times.

I won't vote for "shorter load times" but I will vote for animation toggles.

Oh oh, I know, let's make a poll for who wants a better game? Better graphics? Faster cars? Shorter load times? Oh, wait, nevermind.

Agreed, I would like some sort of a tuning page with checkboxes where you can check every tuning part and then click on something like buy/install all parts, instead of having to do it one by one manually. And obviously there should also be a checkbox that selects all tuning parts at once.

It would also be interesting to disable some of the animations (GT Auto) in the options menu for example.
I too hate the other loading times when navigating through the menu's although I'm not sure if there would be a direct solution for it.

Personally I love the overall menu design. It looks great, and isn't as simple and boring as most other games these days. The only annoying loading time is the one for maintanance. And really, you're not going to be visiting that one all that much. It's a tiny thing in such a big game, and there are things much more important in need of fixing. Thus leaving this a rather unimportant problem.

I find navigating the menus a bit of a chore sometimes. Especially when I buy a car from the OCD, wait for the animation, hit ok for the paint chip message, click over several times, down once, and over again because it went to the right of where you want to be for an oil change. Then go through the oil change procedures, click two times to back out. Then if you want any more cars from the OCD, start all over after a few more clicks to get back over there.

This is onr thing that could be better streamlined, which would greatly improve the experience overall.

I also agree with the tuning checklist suggestion.

I agree that the load times are not the best AND the animations AND the music sucks... I'd much rather have my own music playing during those AWESOME animations.

I may have read somewhere that PS3s should only be fitted with 5400 rpm HDDs, just so you know. I'd look into that before settling in with your 7200.

For that matter there was an article on GTP a while back saying SSDs were the way to go for optimum loading times in GT5, only problem being solid-state drives are WAY more expensive than HDDs, plus they're not terribly large yet.

As for the topic, I only have a problem with GT Auto loading times, animations are cute and all, but in the end I could easily do without them. At least for me it's not too much of an issue since I only really visit GT Auto after I do an endurance race, or if I want to paint a car which is rare occurrence.

As I said Ron, if enough people ticked to streamline the menu process just maybe PD may look at it as an option. Then what you see as a no-brainer may take shape instead of just being something you see as an obvious thing that doesn't exist yet.

As for your first statement- there are definitely people who seem to want to sit at these menus and wait for the hours it takes over a year. They have bothered to click a vote.

If they continue to vote and people like you don't then you deserve the times you say are a no-brainer to not want I guess.

I am so thankful it is not just me thinking checklists and animation skips would help this great game be even better.

So far no problems caused by the 7200 drive. Some ongoing overheating problems, but that was an issue prior. Think maybe the heat sink isnt flat anymore, causing heat dissipation issues. On my backup right now, till I decide what to do. If I were to go SSD, the price and size factor is why Id have it dedicated to gt5. Dont want to fill it up with everything else right away. Might put enough games to fill it two thirds, but that would be about it. Probably wont happen though
