Am I the only one who enjoys driving slow cars?

I like to drive hot-hatches and relatively slow cars! The Yaris RS Turbo is a blast to drive. And so is the first-gen Golf GTI.
Driving slow cars is fun in GT4 because the game has small and twisty tracks GT3 didn't have. Autumn Ring mini and motorland for example.

I think the 04' Mercedes-Benz SL600 is a blast (at least on the driving park course gymkhana). With TCS set to 2/3. Accelerates like mad. But for the current thread subject, the SL500 is fun too (TCS Off of course) :sly:

The most fun I have in GT is taking a stock or slightly modded sports car and going up against five other similar beasties. I still recall fondly trying out my newly purchased MR2 1600 G in New York, discovering it had hood cam, and the eerie thrill I experienced as I eeked out my first win. I do like to hot rod, but I don't go crazy with it, usually below 300hp. I bought the 1st gen Audi Quattro tonight and hopped it up into a rally car, complete with a ricey tail. I do miss racing mod, sigh...

You can have your 600+hp monsters, even though they're a ton'o fun. Give me a sports car race or rally any day.

new lap record with Midget '63 is 17' 23" 697
A very little secret (no cheat) granted me this time:
17'02"312

Not so little..... a 21" improval!

It's not the same sort of driving you do with a fast car when you're just worried about your braking point; it's more about drafting, conserving speed, and keeping the tires from squealing.
That's why I enjoy driving cars with less than 200hp. It's enough power to make the car tricky in the turns, but the speed is fairly low so there's more time to think ahead and plan how to pass opponents or take corners.

For me, the slower races seem more intense because there's more focus on efficiency. Taking the proper line through corners and waiting for the right opportunity to pass opponents. In faster cars, the strategy is more about just staying on the track and pushing other cars out of the way.

the slow cars can be fun to drive, makes a change to 200mph! getting a good time out of a slow car can sometimes be harder as the cars arent that good, so its just as much of a challange

No, you are not the only one.

One of my favorite cars is the Honda Civic Type-R, it isn't that powerfull, but I think it is the best FF car. I also like the CRX Sir ( alias: CRX VTEC, here in Europe ). Honda S2000 Type-V ( the only S2000 you can buy, new ) is good, but I just can't stand that engine sound.

In my opinion, specialy for BMI fans, Spoon S2000.

So far I would say that I too vastly enjoy racing the "slower" cars. I love tuning though, so I usually drive a car stock for a while, and then slowly tune it up so it can compete in more races. My personal favorite by a long-shot is the Lotus Elise, which I'm busy buying more of simply so I can have it in more than one color :-)

I also find it a lot of fun to drive a car which can win a race only if you drive *very* well, which usually means a car of equal or slightly lesser power to those you are racing against. Well, I suppose you could take a powerful car that handles like crud and have the same result, but it probably wouldn't be much fun... Currently I'm using the Lotus and attempting to win one of the European races (a 2-lap Nuremberg race) against a host of much more powerful machines. Last night I came in 2nd by less than 3 seconds! ARGH! :-) What fun!

I tore-up all the non-dirt, non-snow "special condition" courses except one in my Lotus Elise. It's a blast to run through those narrow streets. I couldn't beat the race car in the final (hard) wet condition race however, just not enough acceleration.

I too enjoy the slower cars.

Ginneta G4, with some mods so it has 100hp instead of 91hp, is very fun to drive on the Ring. Especially in the 25laps race of the 1000miles championship. I have much fun in having these constant battles with the 300sl... :)

Other than that, i really like driving the older british cars, like the Triumph Spitfire oder the Jensen Interceptor. The Lotus' are cool too.

i have more fun driving the crappyer cars, especially the ones i have had in real life.
-90 CRX si, i had an 88'
-76' wabbit, i had an 84'

put on some econo tires and try to better my lap times in practice, I actually enjoy this more then the racing part of GT4, sometimes its good to get two equal but differnt crappers and have a mini challange with them.. crx vs rabbit, insight vs prius etc..

i like the cars that i can and will one day own, and everynow and then take the crazy cars for a few laps.

One of the greatest 'slow' cars to drive is maybe a Turbo tuned Fiat Panda! I've set it up to 94hp and very tight suspension. It's a blast 'round Costa Di Almafi and other curvy courses.
I really love to drive hot-hatches and keiyon-class (Japanese small cars).
