How do you get into amature rally racing? I there some sites I can go to see about requirements and stuff?

all i know is that its gonna cost a whole lot of money. And you have to be prepared to lose the car. But other than that, it seems like a good sport to get into.

There are a number of different ways you can do it. Easiest is called Rallycross, which is pretty much an autocross held on dirt/gravel. Least risk but fewer thrills (if brushes with death thrill you).

Next up would be SCCA-sanctioned Club Rally, which is amateur level rally action that is more like the WRC stuff. There are other sanctioning bodies (such as NASA) depending on where you are located, as well.

Most of the Club Rally cars can be bought and prepared relatively inexpensively (Golf/Rabbit, Neon, 323/Protege, among others). In the the PacsNW, there is even a Geo Metro spec class, in order to limit expenditures. But if you can't afford to throw away about $5000, then my advice is to just forget it. It's not a matter of if you're going to wreck the car, but a matter of when.

Well I thought about getting a older Impreza or a Golf and racing that.

Well thanks for the help

The Impreza will probably work a little better b/c of the AWD, but it will be more expensive to buy and run. The Golf has the advantage of being dirt cheap (no pun intended) to buy and maintain, and it has a ton of racing and rally support. It's also much lighter than the Subie.

In beginning rally or rallycross, durablility and ease of maintenance is far and away the most important thing to consider. Don't worry about absolute performance. Finishing the event is more important.

Good luck!

I've been looking at a Golf, it seems to be a helluva lot cheaper then the Impreza like you said.

Also my friend said he'd be my co-driver. This will be fun :D
