He needs some practice. Or maybe a game that doesn't require you to sit pretending to hold an invisible wheel.

Kinect= Fail. Not only was he doing nothing and doing well, he had to sit like he was constipated for 3 whole laps!
The Kinect PR:
Not only does it not do much... It also makes you look constipated infront of special people (GF, wife ect.)

Why is that possible :ouch:...

From 8th to 3rd without doing anything, amazing. Kind of puts 'ole Bspec Bob to shame. :)

I watched it twice because I was firstly expecting the dude to do something, I had to re-watch it to actually see the racing driving movements.

Kinect is exactly like Dance Dance Revolution. They both make you look really stupid.

The only exception being that if you're good at DDR then you'll look awesome. With Kinect, it doesn't really matter.

Is anyone surprised that Kinect is a gimmick?

I'm not surprised, I KNEW Kinect was a gimmick from the start. The current technology (the one allowed to be used commercially) isn't capable of detecting human movements well enough for an accurately ran game.

 I think you missed the point unless you forgot the sarcasm tags.

IMO all the motion controllers are gimmicks (Wii, Move, Kinect). Either way, they make the companies a lot of money so I guess it's not all bad. People buying this stuff who wouldn't otherwise be interested in gaming are helping to keep our industry alive. Plus it gives people who have no interest in normal video games a chance to have some of the fun too.

From what I've read the Kinect works pretty well. The biggest gripe I heard is that it needs a ton of space to work properly (minimum distance of 6', optimal 9' to 12'!!!).

IMO a racing game isn't the best demonstration of the technology either. The lack of accelerator/brake support means the game has to drive for you. Plus it's going to be tailored towards people who don't normally play video games, so the auto-steering is an assist to help them out.

Honestly, I think the technology is great and everyone needs to remember that these games and devices aren't marketed towards us. They're targeted at the opposite of us: people who aren't obsessed with video games .

BTW, nice video  I got a good laugh out of it.

edit:I guess this thread was more about control of the car with body motion? Sorry to have gone off track.

You guys have seen Track IR's before right?

(wish GT would do inside view without the steering wheel graphics too)

Been using Track IR in flight sims since their second version. I ordered the PS3 move??? or whatever it's called thinking it was like Track IR. Honestly, not a very immersive simulator if stuff like this is not supported, because once you start using this stuff.....not having it is harsh. On a car sim, not too bad, but for the Flight sim......if my Track IR broke, I don't fly.
