ND4SPDBeautiful to look at but so wrong at the same time
Those are some of the most beautiful pictures I have seen. Beautiful to look at but so wrong at the same time.

I don't think cancer comes from our cell phones.....
.....great pics though.
I dont know why so many people think theres an inherent wrongness in it when I look at those explosions, I dont see people dying, but rather I see raw power than we can harness for so many good uses. If it werent for all the fear-mongerers, we could mitigate so many of our energy concerns by using nuclear power. Theres such a beauty in the idea that a small, relatively simple reaction can create so much usable energy for hospitals and schools and computers and centrifuges and refrigerators
And here's the opinion of a 16 yr old.-DiabloMonkeyput it on a rocket and send it in to the sun? I think that the main problem with that is that people will think that something might happen and it would be shot around the sun and back to earth.
The big drawback of nuclear power is the waste. It takes a long time to break down, and the waste will pile up if nuclear plants will remain.
But as long as there isn't a good alternative they will remain.
Here in Belgium a lot of power comes from nuclear energy.
Everyone wants to change to 'green power', but no one wants windmills in their backyard.
And about nuclear weapons themselves, my opinion is that the underground testing causes the present earthquakes to be much more violent, because the power from the blast has to go somewhere.

But why look at it that way? Why look at a newborn baby and say Hey, he could grow up to be the next Hitler! Why not look at that same baby and say Hey, he could grow up to be next Norman Borlaug!I do belive it's the fact that most of those explosions have something to do with murdering the most amount of people in one second as possible.
I am by no means an expert on this, but some people will ask "what will we do with the nuclear waste?" but isn't it possible to (and this is just a 17 year old kid thinking here) put it on a rocket and send it in to the sun? I think that the main problem with that is that people will think that something might happen and it would be shot around the sun and back to earth. So the biggest problem with nuclear energy is the "what if?" people and no matter what safety precautions are taken it will never be enough.

I understand what you are saying, but no babies are made to kill people.
All of those bombs are made to kill people.
(I do realise that not all of the pictures of of nuclear weaponry testing, but most are)
I would hope we never used a Nuke to blow up a meteorite, surely it'd leave the earth to be pelted by thousands of small bits of rock?
