The star VY Canis majoris is so big that if Earth was the size of a golf ball, the star would be Mount Everest. :sick:
 
It's amazing the sheer size of some of those stars out there, I'm amazed that we are unable to see them clearly in the sky :(
 
If they were even remotely close enough to be seen by the naked eye, much less clearly, the thermal radiation would not only burn-out the retina, but all life on Earth as well.

I'll settle for the pics, close enough for me.

I can only imagine how big stars outside our own galaxy may be:nervous:
