Cant you pick it up?

I have GameStop in store pickup. It will be available on Mondays Midnight. So no waiting, no stupid delivery issues, just me and the game from day 1!

I, too, preordered the CE version through gamestop.com for mail delivery.

I plan to stop by Gamestop today and see if I can change my CE preorder for in-store pickup. Later i will dig around the gamestop.com site and see if there is any info on editing my order.
:)

Didn't know that the CE was just an Amazon, Play release.
Thanks for the info. I don't need to keep looking now.

I knew the SE was a Game only one though. Its still too expensive :(

I've just changed my delivery for the CE from Amazon UK to first class for an extra £2. This should mean it is delivered on 3rd November as this is what it says on the basket page next to the first class option when you pre-order it > get it on its release day: Wednesday, November 3.
Cool, just had a look. It wasn't like that when I originally placed my pre-order, just said delivery within 2 business days.

No worries. As for the price, IMO it is way too expensive for what you get. But, it depends on how much you value the model car and extras. Personally, I'm only bothered about two things:

- Monochrome cover (seriously!)
- ChromeLine cars on day one

I'd love to have all of the stealth cars on day one as well, but the only way that's going to happen is if I order three copies of the standard version from HMV, Amazon and Play. Bit of a hassle that I can do without really, so will just wait for those I think.

I'm pretty sure I remember gamestop offering release day delivery when I preordered the game on their website.

Has anyone preordered games from Gamestop? Does Gamestop sometimes, never, or always have games available for pickup on the "preorder" date?

I preordered GT5 standard for instore pickup. The site info does not specifically state that the game can be picked up on Nov. 2. It says, "Preorder ships 11/02/2010" on the website info. If you click on the preorder info at Gamestop it says (bold is my emphasis):
"Pre-order
This product has not yet been released. Pre-ordering a product is the best way to ensure that you'll receive it promptly when released. The date listed is usually the date we pick up the product from the vendor and ship to you."

any info would be appreciated! thanks
:)

Sorry, but what does this have to do with Amazon and its release date?

Much more than your reply. The thread title says amazon but now it branched off to discuss other stores and their shipping habits. Maybe you'd prefer we made separate threads for every single outlet?

In the UK shopto do release day delivery, most games I've pre-ordered from them (Killzone 2, HAWX,Modern warfare 2, some more) have all arrived the day before release day!! So i'll be playing GT5 on the 2nd Nov in the UK.

And shopto will give you £3 if the game isnt with you by release day (if royal mail fail to deliver on time)

Oh, and its no extra cost, its just how they ship games, 1st class all the time, and sent 2 days before release to guarantee it gets to your door by the day, and in most cases it only takes 1 day to reach you

99 cents worked for me to for same day! Thumbs up and thanks!

You will have it on release date. I would assume that online pre-orders with in-store pickup don;t actually have to wait for the game to ship from the warehouse. The store probably gets the extra copy allocated to it's location along with the normal on shelf copies.
After searching a bit, overnight shipping from GS means same as sale date delivery. So if the game launches on the 2nd, it'll be at your house on the 2nd. If not, shipping charges are refunded.

OK, thanks for the info. 👍
I assume GT5 will be ready for pickup on Nov2 at my local Gamestop! (I am hoping to take Tuesday Nov2 as a day off from work/classes! :) )

I was going to pre-order from Amazon myself, although despite saying "want to receive on release?" it also mentions that the earliest it can ship is on the 3rd. Im in UK btw.

I preordered through Amazon and I've had release date delivery selected for over a month. But, now that I'm thinking about how UPS normally comes to my apartment at around 3:00 PM I'm sort of regretting it. Do you think it's too late to go to Gamestop and preorder? It's not quite as cost effective, but I could get it 5 hours early!

I preordered on Amazon thinking initially that it would come out on a Tuesday and I would be swamped with my 8 hours of class. Now I don't have any classes on launch date. Hmm

Seriously guys, first you worry about the release date, and when we get that, you worry over the time you will get it on release day?!

Pre-ordered from Amazon .co.uk.Delivery Estimate is the 24 th so I will probably get it on the 26th .

Yes. But at least I realize that that part is my own fault. Come on, I have Wednesday through Sunday, along with some work in Thermodynamics that I need to get done by that Sunday. After that it's all school and final exams through December with little GT time. Give me a break!

Hey I have pre-ordered on amazon UK. I got three options:

Choose a delivery option

1) FREE Super Saver Delivery (2 - 4 business days)

2) First Class (up to 2 business days) (currently selected)

3) Expedited (1 business day(s))

Which of these is the best to ensure that i get this on release day?

Better Yet, if you have Amazon Prime Membership, Launch day shipping is free. :)

Last two Amazon games I've had came the day before release date so hopefully you'll be well sorted.

That's wonderful. Lucky you. I'm truly hoping for that! I have lots of class on Tuesday, but that's IT until the next Monday. I'd be overjoyed to stay up all night Tuesday playing GT5. :)

I pre-ordered GT5 back in Sep. 2009 (I was anxious. Can you blame me?) At the time I had a free, trial membership to Amazon Prime. So I selected Free/Release day delivery. Even though my trial Prime membership has long since expired, the free release day delivery still applies. It will be waiting for me when I get home from work. :)

Also, the price was $54.99 at the time. It's since gone up to $59.99, but I still get it at the lower price. And if that wasn't good enough, I pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption before it came out and got a $20 Amazon credit code. I applied it to my GT5 pre-order. Long story short, I'm getting GT5 on Release day, free shipping, no tax and all for only $34.99!!!

It says on the product page:
Want to receive this the day it comes out?
Select First Class at checkout.
Just ordered mine

They must be getting a lot of CEs in stock if the game comes out next week, and they are still taking preorders for release day shipping.

Must not be all that limited.

Cancel it and just buy it from your local supermarket.

I was thinking about doing this, but my postman, ups man, fed ex man all come late in the day. I would go mad while waiting. I am hoping for a midnight launch at best buy.

I actually had placed an order on Amazon tho a few days later i cancelled due to the same reasons. The post wont come until later in the day, and it would of drove (parden the pun) me nuts waiting. Knowing my luck it would be a snowy day and the post would get cancelled or something.

Nah, im much happier going to get it from the stores. Im hoping for a midnight launch by me :)

According to an email I got today Amazon (USA) is now offering release day delivery on GT5 CE. The cost, a whopping 99c. If you've already pre-ordered (like I have) you just have go to your order and change shipping method.

Way to go Amazon :-)

Thank you!!!

I like that you can still opt for 3-day shipping for MORE money.

You do realize that the release date is Wednesday NOT Tuesday?

I didn't really bother with Amazon for this game, as I'll be in the area of a Game Stop on release day anyways on the 24th. Besides, the 25th is Thanksgiving, which automatically eliminates a business day of shipping. I'd rather stay up and play Wednesday night than have to wait till Friday.

I'm assuming FIRST CLASS.

I'm assuming FIRST CLASS.

Well i was on 1st class and Amazon Uk estimated 23rd/24th Nov delivery.
I changed to Expedited and it was 24th delivery.

Expedited is £4 more.

Worth it or just 1st class? (collectors edition BTW)

Im taking wednesday and thursday off work so i want it in my hands wednesday morning. Call me sad but 6 years of waiting and im owed time off. IM TAKING IT. 👍

I order all my games from gameplay.com and usually get games before release date.

Football Manger 2011 came a day before its release two weeks ago. Modern Warfare 2 came 2 days before launch earlier this year

They've sent me an email stating my dispatch estimate is 22/11/10 so i'm expecting this 23/24th 2-3 days before the UK launch.

I'm hoping for the same again next week...
