They've already done it. Speaker Johnson adjourned the Congressional session a couple days early to block a congress-wide vote which is why the committee had to do it instead.
He's trying to block it until after the August recess which is hilariously ironic because Trump wants them to abandon the recess to push through more of his lackeys.

I hope that when the Orange Moron inevitably snaps, he takes all his rich pedophile friends down with him.
I've lost all hope by now that anything will bring him down. He's gotten away with so, so many things that would've been career-ending for any other politician. Of course the grim reaper is going to take him away eventually, but even then the insanity he's unleashed will probably stick around. The genie is out of the bottle.

You've got this backwards. Trump's DOJ absolutely does not want to question Maxwell which is why they haven't bothered with it - a House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform subpeonaed her, and the DoJ must comply.

Also, the same committee just yesterday subpeona*ed* the DoJ to release the Epstein records.

I fully expext them to ignore that second one, be held in contempt of Congress, and begin another excrutiatingly long process of nonsense. The DoJ obviously can't prosecute itself so there would need to be special councel and it's a whole ****ing donkey show after that. Precisely how Trump prefers it.
Rick Wilson explains it better than I did...

Headlines are suggesting that Maxwell may be seeking a pardon. You're not getting a pardon from Trump if you're throwing him under the bus. You're getting a pardon from Trump if you're exonerating him. But... Trump pardoning Maxwell would look HORRIBLE!

No way.

Actually, what might happen is she lies to get herself a pardon and effectively makes nobody guilty of Epstein's crimes except for the guy who is dead. It depends how much she feels remorse for what she did. If she feels no remorse, then she will likely go free as Trump claims she is innocent and all of this is... you guessed it... a witch hunt.

I would imagine she has something like this in mind. I'm not going to depend on the scruples of this woman. But Trump's supporters are out for blood over Epstein. And the guy who won't release the files pardons a person convicted in the case? I don't see that flying.

I would imagine they're workshopping lots of options, like Maxwell blaming Carter, Obama, Hillary, Oprah, and Steven Colbert or something, but I don't think the conspiracy nuts are going to stand for Maxwell being innocent and let off the hook. Trump is way too tied to Epstein to be pardoning Maxwell. No matter what nonsense she says.

So I'm still skeptical that there's any "there" there regarding Trump's relationship with Epstein to do with the latter's sexual exploitation of minors...

...but it's getting more and more difficult.

I have often wondered what it was like to live roughly between the 16th-18th centuries and have the social, political and wealthy elite do whatever the 🤬 they felt like and how immune they must have been despite being the worst of humanity. And the changes of the 19th and 20th centuries made it difficult to believe that we could go back to such times.

But... it's increasingly easy to sympathise with the French revolution given the contempt these people have for anyone and anything except themselves.

The fact that these people exist doesn't throw me off. The fact that it's difficult to prosecute wealthy people doesn't throw me off. It's the fact that people voted for this that throws me off.

So... it's basically the Trump List at this point then?
Doesn't a tariff rebate basically eliminate the point of a tariff? Put another way, if Americans know that they will be reimbursed for buying items that have a tariff, won't they be more inclined to buy them? And then what, we just have money passing from the buyer to the tax collector and then back to the buyer? If tariffs are designed to reduce imports but are then refunded then what are they even doing?

I suppose he could be pulling a big government move and taking from select groups and offering rebates to other groups...aka wealth redistribution, aka socialism.

She was pursued and finally arrested (7/2/2020) under his administration. Nearly all of her civil suits listed in Wikipedia happened under his administration.

"Funny" how now he suddenly wants to bat the idea to pardon her when he benefits the most, but couldn't say anything more than, "I wish her well" (which was already eyebrow raising) when she was finally answering for her crimes.

Which is already well established.

Tmu, she's still facing 2 charges on a perjury trial for lying in 2015 about Epstein. I don't have the exact notes, but I've seen it referenced in the last week about how she can not be trusted with any testimonial b/c she already lied under oath and has a history of hiding, refusing to be served court documents, & a potential flight risk.

Lol, Trump's going to get away with it, and the most well-armed, most-freedom-ist-mother-lovin' country in the world is going to let him - whilst aggressively debating the semantics. Lol.

Actually supposedly Ghislaine Maxwell and attorney have met with Trump DOJ representatives and provided information, no doubt in exchange for some kind of special treatment, that by some remarkable coincidence is going to simultaneously exculpate Trump and implicate one or more of Trump's critics.

He suckered all those who voted for him by pointing the finger at others. He suckered Muskrat into “bailing him out” from receiving jail time, buying the presidency. He suckered the conspiracy theorists, YouTubers and TikToketers into selling their souls for prime government positions.
This dude cannot be president past 84 years old.

The tl;dr here seems to be that homeless people, people with substance addictions, and people with "mental illness" (which goes undefined) may be removed to "civil commitment" (detention facilities).

Okay. Now, I been thought why isn’t the Freedom of Information Act being used to gain access to the Epstein files?

Nice.
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF) submitted a series of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the federal government seeking records of any communications between top leadership at the Department of Justice (DOJ) relating to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, including discussions of how department officials should address references to Donald Trump or Mar-a-lago in any files. The records request, which builds on a series of FOIAs filed by DDF last week, follows reporting that Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Trump earlier this year that his name appeared in the Epstein files.

In the filing, DDF requests records that would provide insight on the role senior DOJ officials including Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, FBI Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, have played in the Trump-Epstein debacle.

Main question I have is how long does it take to rewrite the files since Trump found out back in May?

Are these the files that are sitting on a desk, but don't exist, but are a hoax by the Democrats, but are also real except someone planted Donny's name in them, but Maxwell may now be attesting to?

Just trying to figure out where we are in this charade.
