I was at the MLG Championship this weekend, for Gran Turismo 3, and GameStop, one of their sponsors had brochures sitting around. I picked one up and as I rifled through it, something met my eyes that I didn't quite believe: "Free Demo with reservation"

Of course, it also said GT4 will have online play, but I can't be sure how recently it was printed, or how much GameStop cares about accurate game info versus incentives to pre-order.

So everyone go mob your local GameStop and ask them about this.

Pictures attached.

Dont wanna sound like an idiot, but whats the point with a demo of the game, that will be out the month after one preorder it?

It doesn't specifically say it's a GT4 demo. It could be a demo for anything. Maybe even a Spongebob Squarepants game:dopey:

Why would they give you a demo of a game you are about to buy? I'm 99% sure the demo would be of another game.

They did it with Killzone as I recall.. gave out a Killzone demo when you pre-ordered Killzone.

I'll be heading to Gamestop on Tuesday, I'll ask 'em if they know anything about it.

yah. they did it with killzone.. i played the demo in gamestop
i go to gamestop everyday.. (almost everyday) because i go to barns and nobles to study.. and there's gamestop right next to it. maybe i'll ask today..

Mobbing? That's my specialty! Haha... uh, maybe not.

I'm going to take a different logic to this topic. I'm pretty sure that America will get a demo fo GT4. Maybe not in the form of this, but something about 80% close to what the final game will be like. I remember that when I got the music CD for GT2, it included a demo of GT2. All you got out of it was a demo of GT2 with no functional simulation mode, video files talking about (then) Gran Turismo 2000, and two downloads to boost your GT2 experience (no pun intended). I don't even recall a GT3 demo except for the little display I played at a Best Buy once. If I'm going to predict, GT4 will be available in America as a demonstration. True to America, we'll probably see New York, Grand Canyon, and maybe even Sears Point. And then to p*ss off people who'd rather race in America, let's say Fuji and Citta di Aria are included. Hey, if you're going to buy GT4, you'll have to prove yourself around the world. You did it in the Project Gotham series, and this one will be no different. And I'm pretty sure stores like Wal-Mart will have the demo available on the PS2 units, maybe even bundled with other games. Whatever games come out between November and December will probably be on there.

But will there be a GT4 demo? I don't have definite answers, but I'll say... yes. Eventually.

It would be a free GT4 demo guys, why all the cynicism?
Killzone had a similar promotion in Australia that if you pre ordered Killzone you got a Killzone demo to take home and play.

If it's true (in which case I'll preorder GT4 when I go to pick up The Bard's Tale tomorrow or Tuesday), the first thing we'll need to do is figure out how to remove the time-limit, if there is one. Well, the second thing.. the first thing I'll do is play the hell out of it.. hehe. But if by some chance it's got the 'Ring, I'll want to do full laps. :)

I'll be calling GameSpot tomorrow to verify their release-date for TBT, I'll ask them about the demo at the same time. And report back here (duh). :)

I'll wait for the full game, i don't care much about demos. And i'm certainly not desperate about GT4, got plenty of cool games to play 'till then... DoW, GTA:SA, Halo2, HL2...

It's too late for a demo, demo's come out like more than a month before the game releases don't they?

you people assume waaaaay too much, no, demos don't come out more than a month before the game releases, i have no clue why you would think that, demos come out to promote games wich are allready available for people to buy, so they can try out the product and see if they like it, pretty much to get new clients.

man, there's only like two replies wich don't look like they were writen by a 9 year old kid.

I just called GameStop.. Short answer: Still don't know.

Long answer: They ARE handing out a demo disc, but it's not in stock yet. They said the "gift" demos usually come out closer to the game's release, and with the unofficial bump from November to December, they don't have them yet.. maybe sometime next month. They did say that if you pre-order the game now, you'll still get the demo whenever it arrives, they'll call you and you can come by the store and just pick one up.

They do NOT know if the disc is actually a demo for GT4 itself.. corporate didn't give them that information, all the store knew was that it was a "demo disc". So it could be a GT4 demo, it could be a generic PS2 multi-game demo like OPM, or Spongebob Squarepants or whatever. Since the demo's release seems to be linked to the release of the game itself, it could very well be a GT4 demo, like they did with Killzone. We just don't know yet, and won't know until the thing actually makes it's way to the store. I am going to go ahead and pre-order the game when I go in there on Wednesday, though, just to lock it in.
