What do you guys think of American Eagle? Does any body shop there at all? I wanted to get some stuff from Hollister but too many people are playing it out so it's just gonna come and go. Just bought some new jeans for $25 and they are comfortable as HECK. Like no lie, these are the only jeans that fit me perfect right now. My sis said she'll stop by there after work tomorrow and pick me up a t-shirt that I saw, but I didn't have enough for both right away.

Here's the jeans :

I have a plain, heavyweight, ribknit longsleeve pullover shirt that I bought there about 5 years ago. Luckily it doesn't have a big logo on it. It's comfortable and has worn well and I love it. I almost never buy expensive clothes, so it's good to find places like that. There isn't one around here, unfortunately.

Yeah, I checked out Abercrombie a few months back, and I saw a pair of jeans were $80, so I'm like WOW, wtf? So I ask for the cheapest jeans, and on the clearance rack. " Fifty dollars for the cheapest jeans on the clearance rack, sir ". Me : " WHAT THE fK**! You are kidding me, right? " And I left. So American Eagle is probably the place I'll shop for jeans and some shirts now

Don't buy AE jeans. I have four pairs and they all lost their original color and shrunk to a size where I cannot wear them. Pick up some good Levi's and be done with it.

It's cool to wear a big AE logo in middle school, but when you become an adult, not so cool.

Nope, never shopped there – no particular reason. I’m probably just too used to buying cheap clothes from Target. Frankly, the shirts that I love most are the ones I’ve gotten for free: I have this one Lego shirt that I love to pieces (even though the “printing” has cracked), and I have a UCSD shirt that fits well and is very tastefully designed with a white and dark red color scheme.

And as Viper Zero said: everybody in HS may be wearing fashionable-logo-this and fashionable-logo-that, but as you get older, you realize it just looks obscene. And agreed on the Levi jeans – they’re the only ones that fit me perfectly (took me forever to find a 31x30 though).

American Eagle are fine quality, just stay the heck away from Old Navy and the such, theyre like wool

Actually, I'm wearing a pair of their jeans right now. Not too bad, but I recently tore a hole in the knee of one pair. American Eagle tries to pander to the teenage crowd too much, but they do have some decent stuff that's not too bad on your wallet.

I utterly fail to 'get' Abercrombie and Fitch.

10 years ago they were a mostly-unknown company that had been around forever, just like L. L. Bean, except even drier and duller and more old-fart-from-New-England-ish. Somehow they managed to establish themselves as the store for noveau-riche college kids with nipple rings and too much disposable allowance, and they've made a killing at it.

I salute them for managing it, even if I don't quite understand it.

^^^ I agree. Like Hollister brainwashed almost everyone in my school. I haven't seen a ' thug ' ever wear any ' fitted ' clothing or even a prep piece of cloth. Now this year, this one kid who wanted to fight me last year in class, is all preppy and I hate to say it, but kind of ' gay ' :( ... And AE Jeans DEFINITELY keep their quality, color, and size. My cousin's husband has four pairs of jeans from them and they are the same size he says, the same color ( He even took a photo for some reason  )

And I do wear mostly Old Navy. All my jeans faded from them. I mostly just wear blank shirts though. Only color for me. I have every color possible, even purple and pink :) :D

I'd like more clothing that just fits and is comfortable. I don't wanna worry about price or brand too much.

.:Edit:.

That's why I want to work there. Hello $25 an hour :) :) :) :) :) My best bud's brother worked there. Oh my God, he got sooo much money so quick. And he did over time and worked long, just because of the money!

American Eagle seems like kind of a poor-man's Abercrombie. It's weird because I have some old American Eagle stuff that really is kind of outdoorsy wear, made to go hiking in or something. They don't sell that type of thing at all anymore, it's just a teen brand now.

Amen, brother VZ! 👍

I have a few pairs of Old Navy jeans (which I am assuming are similar enough to AE for this point to be valid) which, yes, are cheaper than Levi's, but after a year, I can still wear the Levi's to work. The Old Navy jeans have been demoted to the lawn mowin', oil changin' pile.

I feel this store along hollister and abocrombie are too preppy and "pop-your-collar' and unreasonably expensive. This is just me but im not preppy so I dont like those stores. Also I cant get over how they sell (not that you bought some) ripped worn jeans for like 70 bucks, thats really gay. Do what I do, buy some levis or wrangler jeans and just wear them and do stuff in them, they will eventually wear down and rip. my last pair of jeans I had were 10x better than any name brand jeans and they were like 10 to 15 bucks, they even had the ripped/ worn look after a few bmx falls and jackass stunts.

BTW: Im more of a Hot-topic(Im not goth or emo), pac-sun, or target kind of guy.

AE, AC&F, and Hollister are all considered prep brands in my area, I wouldn't be caught buying them. Unless of course I find the "AE 86" AE sports shirt.

I typically wear what is cheap and comfortable, like my 8 dollar for four shirts I get at Target. 👍 And my $15 sweat pants I get from varying places. :)

The most expensive article of clothing I wear is my $85 New Balance sneakers I got as a Christmas present in 2004.

Have fun being a human billboard. Also, those jeans look like they were made for a 4'11" girl.

They've got a huge billboard facing the prison here in Pittsburgh, I'm sure those guys cringe every time they look out the window and see an Abercrombie ad.

I like American Eagle's jeans, but I don't really like any of their other stuff as it usually has their logo pasted all over it. Their jeans fit me really well, and even though the knees do blow out sometimes, I can deal with it.

Old Navy jeans are great too, as they're a bit less expensive as the AE ones, look similar, and last just as long.

Anyway I'd rather shop at AE than be caught dead in Hot Topic or Pacsun, which are just as overpriced as Abercrombie, but appeal to the masses who want to fit in by being a goth or punk. The trendy pop punk music and employees drive me out of those places instantly.

I take it you pop the badges off your car and all? ;)

Some logos are okay IMO, even ones across the chest. But it's got to be tasteful. It's part of the reason I don't have any hoodies, they all have massive OTT logos across the chest.

Can you explain how pant knees blow out? Do they just explode open? Okay, but, seriously, if that's happening to you, I wouldn't even consider browsing through those "jeans" at all. Those things are fashion denim. Poseur troseur.

Exige, tasteful logos are okay. I don't mind the little emblems on polo-style shirts and stuff. But, like you said, the big obnoxious designs are really, REALLY irritating. Driving a car is different, though. Everyone knows what kind of car you have because the model is unique to itself (whereas a shirt is a shirt, you know). Therefore, badging is excused, unless we're talking about Honda and the stupid V-TEC crap they've put all over their new cars.

The knee in a pair of mine tore as I was leaning forward with my knees bent for something. There was a lot of pressure on the fabric at that point, but I'm still not sure it should have ripped.

It's only one shirt I'm buying from AE  The rest might be jeans. But I might just go look for some new t-shirts at Target soon. Not a fan of any writing on my shirts too often.

Usually it starts as a small tear and just gets bigger. I don't really mind too much though since they last me 2 or 3 years before this happens, which I can deal with. Plus, $25 really isn't that much to spend on a pair of jeans. They fit well, the fabric is really comfortable, and I like how they fit me, so what's the problem?

Trust me, I would never be caught dead in those trendy 'faded' or 'pre ripped' jeans that they sell.

Anyway, my mom and girlfriend do most of my clothes shopping for me since I despise malls, so I take what I can get.

No, you did not just say that. With all the modified Hondas running around these days the big DOHC VTEC (no dash there, buddy) badges are necessary--they're the only way I know which cars I can and can't beat.

But I agree that big fancy designs are crappy. I'd never wear a shirt or hoody that said ABERCROMBIE across the front. I usually shop at Kohl's anyway, and they carry a bunch of different name brands (minus the ones with big words plastered on) at decent prices.

I only get AE stuff from the clearance rack. Found a great pair of shorts for $8. They were pre-torn, and the crotch is starting to fail, but you can't beat $8.

I found flip-flops in the clearance rack for $4.50. I use em in the shower, and they're much better than the $15 ones I got the previous year from elsewhere.

 @ ' area '.

I don't like too fitted or tight pants, but just a little baggier than normal is fine for me. And the most expensive shoes I bought were $90 which were my Osiris Troma's. The next shoes I need to buy for running are $115 :(

Pah, you don’t need expensive shoes for running. ;) All of my shoes for cross country cost less than 30 bucks (even my racing flats). You just have to shop around a bit.

Yeah, me too. Most expensive shoes I've ever bought were a pair of 20th anniversary edition Nike's that I (think) got for $110. But usually shoes cost me $50-$60.
