    AMERICAN RACING LEAGUE (ARL)

Welcome to ARL! A majority of us have raced in online lobbies that have been a free-for-all, everyone bumping, cutting other drivers off, dive-bombing, etc. Here lately we have entered those kind of rooms and in our experiences it really kills the fun of racing when that happens. This series is open to anyone and everyone as long as the connection doesn’t cause a problem. So everyone doesn’t end up racing the same car we are limiting the car selection to only 4 of the same cars (list of cars below) under the first come first serve method. We have noticed most series run month to month one thing that does is really handicap you if you miss a week because let’s be honest life happens and should always come first. With that being said this series will run in 3 month increments so if something does come up and you miss a week or two it won’t kill your season like it would running month to month. This series will be taking place on Saturday nights, room opens at 9:45 central or earlier with the room number posted in the ARL thread. Qualifying starting at 10:00 central. Please read the provisions below and we hope to see you there for some good Saturday night racing. If you have any questions feel free to message me on GTPLANET @TexasJDC

*rules are subject to change for this league as we see fit.

    1.2 Drivers Etiquette
    ARL Drivers Etiquette 101
As sim racing drivers sometimes we forget that this is a game and let our competitive nature take over to the point we ruin other drivers races, forget the rules from time to time or have a brief lapse of judgement. We all enjoy racing that is why we are here, with that being said we need to remember others are here for the same reasons. The ARL way has and will always be clean and fun first! When we practice/race we all need to remember we are representing ARL and all the hard work that has been put in to make this one of the best up and coming leagues on GT Sport. These guidelines are not meant to single out a driver but are here to ensure that while racing hard all drivers understand what's expected of them. ARL has built a reputation of being a fun, competitive, clean series the following rules and guidelines are here to help drivers remember and learn the correct form of driving etiquette.

    ARL JOBS
BoD: the body of directors are here to insure this is a well managed league and take everyone's best interest to heart to also insure fun competitive and clean driving.
Chief Stewards: @Herimopp89 & @Neutty are here to help with any grievances that a driver may have. They alsohave the FINAL say so when carrying out penalties.
Assistant Chief Steward: will assist the Chief Stewards in any decision making needed.
Minor Stewards: are in charge of getting replays, pictures, or anything needed to assist the Assistant or Chief Stewards when needed.
Score/Data: as you all know @Nick Cannella is a wiz when it comes to data and scoring. He handles all scoring and data for each league. Along with confirmations for the races if there is any issues with these the BoD will help any way we can.

Remember none of these guys are getting paid for this we all do it so everyone can enjoy racing and having fun. All we ask in return is to help make the jobs easier drive respectively and enjoy racing with like minded guys/girls who like to sim race.

    PRE-RACE
    • Drivers need to clear cache and even though this is not a must, it is highly recommended that drivers run a network test to insure drivers have a good solid connection.
    • If a driver is seen lagging, glitching, or teleporting we recommend someone who sees the driver having problems report what they are witnessing in the chat so we can get the situation handled properly before the race starts.
    • If you are one of the drivers that is experiencing this problem we will issue 1 restart, if the problem persists we will require you to go back clear cache, reset the router, run a network test. We will wait 10 minutes before starting the race so these requirements are met and you will start last on the grid. If the problem is still occuring the BoD will take note of the issue and award the driver last place points and ask you to exit the race. We know its not the ideal but we can not postpone the race any longer for connection issues.
    • Once PSN implements the 16 person chat lobby all drivers in the lobby will need to be in the chat, no you don't have to have a mic or talk but this will help insure that drivers can communicate freely and should help cut down on any situation.

    QUALIFYING
    • Drivers are expected to form a single file line once room has been reset in a quick orderly manor.
    • Typically the faster drivers should be in the front followed by slower drivers to insure drivers don't get caught on the outlap or hotlap.
    • If for any reason you are caught while you are qualifying do NOT hold the other driver/drivers up. This is another reason faster drivers should be towards the front of qualifying.
    • If you wreck in qualifying and do not receive damage you may continue to qualify on one exception, you must and I repeat must wait till the last car has passed you to continue your qualifying lap.
    • If you wreck in qualifying and receive damage no matter how big or small your qualifying session is over. We ask that you please park your car out of the other drivers way and engage your hand brake.

    THE RACE

As stated multiple times above drivers are expected to race with the highest regard to clean competitive racing. Below are some examples on what to do or not to do tohelp ensure we are representing ARL the way it was meant to be.

Track Cutting: better known as all 4 wheels off, if a driver find him/herself abusing the track limits an IR can be filed. When racing and pushing hard sometimes you can push the car past its capability and run a corner wide or short depending on the corner, if this does occur you must keep at least 2 wheels on the rumble strips or inbounds on the white track limit line. If a driver fails to do so he or she must lift off the gas for a full second before continuing and give any advantage back if this occurs.

Minor incidents: This is when a driver may accidentally cause another driver light damage (aero, suspension, etc.) but not enough to cause engine damage or damage to 2 or more parts of the vehicle. If this does occur the typical guideline is to give any places gained from the collision back to the driver who received the damage. Failure to do so can result in an IR.

Flag Rules: We have a video in place to clear up flag rules but one thing it does not go over is blocking. If you are being lapped by a driver we ask that you hold your line and allow them to pass cleanly but not block them. There are multiple grey areas in this statement but if we feel that a driver is being purposely blocked there will be a IR filed and the Chief Steward will levy any penalties needed.

Lapse of Judgement: hey it happens your racing the same track for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 45 minutes somethingis bound to happen from time to time. I myself am guilty of this very thing but I hold myself to the same standards ARL is held to. If there is a lapse of judgement we ask that you don't risk ruining someone else's race because you spaced out. Example if i go off track i will not re-enter the track until it is 100% clear to do so and expect the same from any driver who finds themselves in that situation, if I miss my braking zone its better for me to use the run off areas to regain control and composure opposed to trying to make the corner spinning, taking a driver out, causing us both damage that could have been avoided.

Divebomb: We have all been guilty of this one from time to time. A divebomb happens when a driver is trying to make a pass in the corner and has little to no regard for the driver they are passing and cause a collision. You have to be smart when passing a good rule of thumb and an ARL must is when a driver is overtaking another driver they must do so in a clean respective manor and it is their job to do so not the driver being passed.

Blocking: This is another one of those grey areas but like before if the Chief Stewards feel it was a block an IR will be filed. Blocking is defined as more than one change of direction to defend a position, any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line. The driver should leave at least 1 car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner.

Conceding: This is a big one for me and ARL. If you find yourself in a position where you have knocked a driver off track the correct and respectable thing to do is wait for them to gain the position back not when another car passes but when the driver you have knocked off regained the position ahead of you. Not conceding your position when you've clearly knocked a driver off will not be tolerated and will result in a HEAVY IR or SUSPENSION. Conceding has to do with self respect just as much as it has to do with respecting other drivers no one should want to cheat their way to a podium or win that is not the ARL way.

Retaliation: We all know what it is, we all know we have either done it or thought long and hard about it but it must not be executed in an ARL sanctioned race. It 100% will not be tolerated and is one of the biggest ARL no-no’s, retaliation will result in Suspension there is no way around it. I should not have to explain this any further but if needed private message me and we can discuss this further.

Pit Exit: When exiting the pits always watch for drivers who are on the racing line , do not re-enter the racing line until you are back to full speed and it is clear to re-enter.

    A few other notes:

    • Contact between cars should be avoided at all cost
    • It is the job of the driver that is making the pass to pass clean and not interfere with the driver they are passing.
    • With the above being said the driver in front should not intentionally slow the driver gaining on them or do anything to hinder their race either.

To add to the mentioned guidelines above race others how you would want to be raced. The BoD has put a lot of time and effort into making this league what it is and want to continue to see it grow this is where you guys come in and help. People notice who we are and what we are about i don't want to see that perspective change. We all hope that by following these guidelines it will help promote ARL and we continue to watch ARL grow and evolve.

*These same rules apply to any ARL race including ones against other leagues.

    1.3 Classification

Starting in Season 3 we will be separating the drivers by 2 classifications. We will have 1 Bronze class and 1 Silver class. This in no way was put in place to discourage drivers. This will allow drivers to compete against drivers who are around the same skill level as them. Drivers will progress out of the bronze class and into the silver class based on their individual seasons performance. New drivers to this series will have a 2 week evaluation period before they are placed in a class. In regards to teams, we have put in place a rule to only allow one bronze and one silver driver per team to eliminate super teams. Drivers will race against each other the same way we always have in mixed lobbies.

    Silver drivers- White Banner
    Bronze drivers- Black Banner

    1.4 TEAMS

This was an idea brought up by a few current members and it was really enjoyable for Season 2, we will continue to have a Team Championship for Season 3. There are a few changes to teams listed below.

    • Teams must consist of one bronze driver and one silver driver
    • Teams will need to run the same primary sponsor
    • Teams will also need to run the same primary color
    • Teams no longer have to be in the same manufacturer.
    HOW TO START A TEAM

    A. You and another driver must state that both agree to run as a team in the main thread
    B. Come up with a team name
    C. What primary color and sponsor the team will be using

    2.1 QUALIFYING

Qualifying will consist of a outlap followed by 2 hotlaps for grid positions.we will continue with last seasons qualifying procedure but are adding a second lap. The reason we are continuing with this procedure is because it is time effective and easy to police. We realize it might not be the most popular idea but using the K.I.S.S. method we thought it would be best. Any driver who does not confirm their race intentions and shows up to race will be placed last on the grid and will be omitted from qualifying.
    A. Qualifying will consist of 1 out lap followed by 2 hot lap.
    B. Drivers will need to line up after the first corner or other specified location on the track, once the first driver leaves the following drivers will leave their position in 7 second Increments.
    C. Your lap is DQ’ed if you go off track and get damage, with that being said if you go off track with all 4 wheels and don’t receive damage or a penalty you are not DQ’edfrom qualifying you may re-enter the track and continue on with qualifying after the last driver has passed you.
    D. Once you complete your hot laps we ask that all drivers pull over off the track in sector 1, if a driver goes back to the pits, interferes with other drivers on out lap/hot lap or exits the track they will DQ from qualifying session.
    F. The tire compound you use in qualifying is the tire compound you MUST start the race on (example: if a drivers qualifying laps are set on RS the driver must start the race on RS but may change to whichever compound the driver wants to choose once they make their first racing pitstop). If a driver is caught not using the tires that the driver set the qualifying lap on their laps will be invalid and laps will not count in race.
    G. Once you have entered the track for qualifying you have locked in your tire selection to start the race.

    2.2 RACE

    A. False start check
    B. 45 minute race (or laps totaling 40 mins until GT SPORT fixes time races)
    C. Fuel and tire wear will be on
    D. Damage will be on heavy
    E. Flags will be on and strictly enforced

    2.3 RACE NIGHT LAYOUT

    1. 9:45 – 10:00 (central) room opens/free practice
    2. 10:00 – 10:15 (central) Qualifying
    3. 10:15-11:30 (central) Race (Race will be 40 minutes to 45 minutes depending on track, extra time is added for grid glitch, disconnects, etc.)

    1 additional point for pole
1 additional point for fastest lap
1 additional point for winner of the month
5 additional points for the TEAM championship for highest finishing team

DROP RACE RULE: we will be implementing 2 drop race scores for the season. This will consist of your 2 lowest scores being dropped at the end of the season. In making this change we hope to close some of the points gaps and create a tighter battle in the standings. The only scores not eligible for the drop scores are DNF 0 races, if a driver DNF for an internet, equipment issue or life situation they receive last place points if it is stated in the thread they DNF for reasons out of their control those will still be eligible for drop scores.

    2.4 WILDCARD

This is something we hope will set us apart from any other race series. This idea was brought up by a current driver and we have to admit, we really like it. The wildcard will be selected by the lowest driver in point’s standings, designated as FULL-TIME. The driver will pick a 1-make race that will keep with the ARL rules (Bop, Fuel consumption, Tire wear, Damage, etc.) the choices for the wildcard race are as followed. The lowest driver can only have 1 wildcard selection per season if the same driver is up for the wildcard 2 times in the same season the choice will default to the next lowest driver meeting the guidelines mentioned above.

ARL WILDCARD RACE Rules and Regulations:

The following guidelines will be implemented ASAP to bring some structure and regulation concerning the ARL Wildcard Races. As you all know, these three (3) events hold significant importance and value during the ARL season, as double championship points are on the line.

    1. Wildcard Races are an exclusive event in the ARL. To reward our FULL-TIME drivers, they will be given priority when setting up the initial grid of drivers. In other words, if your status is FULL TIME by the Wildcard Race weekend, you will be guaranteed a spot on the grid.
    2. The balance of the grid will then be set by our PART TIME drivers.
    3. In the event we have more than 16 FULL TIME drivers prior to any Wildcard Race weekend, two (2) lobbies will be established to accommodate ANDREWARD ALL DRIVERS.
    4. Lobby placement will be randomized amongst the FULL-TIME drivers, followed by the PART TIME drivers.
    5. You MUST announce your intent to race the Wildcard no later than the THURSDAY of the event. This will allow adequate time for grid and lobbydeterminations. If you do not state by Thursday, then you will not be considered for the event.
    6. Your intent to race announcement should be made on the GTPlanet forum or the PSN group chat.
    7. PART TIME driver eligibility will be based on current point standings, allowing the driver with the most point’s priority on the grid, followed by the next highest, etc.
    8. Starting position on the grid will be set by reverse championship point standings, with the lowest FULL-TIME driver on the pole. Subsequent positions(2-16) will also be based on point standings and driver status (FT/PT).
    9. All FULL-TIME drivers will be placed on the grid ahead of PART-TIME drivers, regardless of point standings.

    A. Driver must select a car class from GR.X GR.1, GR.2, GR.3 or GR.4 for the group to run
    B. Car must be equal to or less than 1,000,000 credits
    C. Track selection is the same as stated in ARL (everything is open except Nurburgring 24H, Nurburgring Nordschleife, & dirt tracks)
    D. Wildcard must be picked no later than 10:30 P.M. (central time) on the Tuesday of wildcard race weekend. If a combo has not been picked by that time the choice will then move to the next driver on the list
    E. Try to be as specific as you can when making your choice. (Example: full name of car, full name of track, time of day, conditions).

    H. Reverse grid (last in total points is on pole - leader in total points last in grid)
    I. Double Points night for every driver who completes the race (along with the DNF Rule)
    J. No qualifying just an extended practice till race starts
    K. All drivers need to be in room no later than 10:25 central for grid sorting purposes.
    L. If there is an instance we need more than 1 room we will divide using excel to randomly select drivers to rooms (only way I see it being fair to everyone)
    M. Races will last 1 hour.

    3.1 PENALTY SYSTEM

ARL is a clean league and we have a very well put together IR system for you guys. Season 3 we hope with the few minor changes that have been made will make it easier on all the drivers to submit an IR if they feel inclined to do so. The penalty system for this league will be based on points deducted. For any driver who commits a penalty depending on the severity of the penalty will have points deducted off of their season points. If the penalty is so severe that may mean suspended for the season/suspended indefinitely. These rules and points deductions will be included in all ARL sanctioned races, and are expected to be followed. If a driver receives a grid penalty or suspension they will be suspended from all ARL events until penalty is served.

    1. 3 POINTS - causing minor damage to another driver's car, unsafe re-entry, cutting corners to gain an advantage
    2. 6 POINTS - dive bomb, making a pass using out of bounds, not adhering to flag rules, blocking/weaving
    3. 9 POINTS (could include grid penalty) - causing major damage to another driver's car, not conceding spot if you have ran another driver off track/ bumped them going into a corner
    4. 12 POINTS (could include grid penalty) - intentionally hitting another driver, retaliation, dive bomb with no intention of using the brakes
    5. 15 POINTS (will include grid penalty) - intentionally trying to wreck other drivers, driving the wrong way on the track, pretty much being a jacka$$ I don’t see many of us having a problem with this major point deduction because overall this is a clean group ofdrivers but you never know when you might have to use this penalty

Penalty points will reset at the start of each season. With that being said directors will take into consideration past season’s penalties when making any further rulings forfuture infractions so please drive clean and respectful.

    3.2 INCIDENT REPORT (IR)

We have completely changed the process for filing a IR. @Herimopp89 has came up with an IR Form that will need to be filled out from this moment forward. The form is pretty self explanatory. Drivers will have until Monday morning to submit an IR to be reviewed. If you have any questions feel free to message @TexasJDC.

    4.1 FULL/PART-TIME STATUS

At the start of the season all drivers will be set to full-time status. In order to keep full-time status a driver must complete 65% of the races since there first race of theseason. Special exceptions can be made if the directors determine so. Something like driver losing connection or most of us have young ones and sometimes life happens and like previously stated should always come first, I don’t think it’s right to remove a fulltime driver’s status giving those reasons.

    4.2 RACE NIGHT PROCEDURES

We as a group have got to implement confirmation before the race into a routine to avoid mass confusion going into the race. Race confirmation will end at 7 pm (central) Saturday night prior to race. Drivers who fail to confirm after the 7 pm cutoff will only be allowed in the lobbies if there is room for them, any driver who did not confirm and still races will start the race last on the grid and forfeit qualifying. Auto-confirming is strongly suggested and makes the job a lot easier when it comes to getting lobbies set up for the race night. If you are on auto-confirm then your automatically on the grid for race night and only need to post in the thread about races you don't plan on attending.

*exceptions can be made to this rule if we have prior knowledge and the BoD agrees to waive this but I would not expect it to be on very many occasions as this would be considered a “special circumstance”

    4.3 FORFEIT OF RIGHTS

If for any reason a driver decides not to confirm their race intentions for 3 weeks in a row and don’t show up to race they will now forfeit their rights to points earned and car selected. The reason we are putting this into place is we have seen a few drivers race 1 week and never show back up and we feel it’s unfair to the weekly drivers to hold a car and not race. Hopefully with this rule it will encourage more drivers to confirm their status and race more often.

*exceptions can be made to this rule if we have prior knowledge and the BoD agrees to waive this but I would not expect it to be on very many occasions as this would be considered a “special circumstance”

    4.4 CHANGE OF CAR POLICY

We have noticed that a few drivers have changed cars while the season is in session, we do not like to allow changes but can understand that on certain occasions the BoD may rule that a driver can change the car but it does carry a stiff penalty.

    A. Car does not already have 4 drivers assigned to the car the driver wants to change to.
    B. All points up to the change will be forfeited and driver will start back at 0 points

    4.5 DISCONNECTS/STUCK ON GRID

With the recent update on GT Sport there have been many instances a driver getting stuck on the grid (including myself). Hopefully this will not be a problem going forward but until GT Sport fixes this problem we will need to adapt a rule for being stuck or disconnecting. The rule we are putting in place for the time being is that if a driver gets stuck on the grid we will restart if the problem persists we will ask the driver to clear cache and restart PS4 then rejoin the lobby, if the same driver is still having issues we will ask that driver to leave for the night and issue last place points to the driver/drivers for that race. It really sucks being stuck on the grid and I want everyone to race each week but at the same time we can’t restart more than twice for the same driver it’s not fair to the others and I’ve noticed that’s when we go from starting at 10:30 and having issues to starting at 11 or later it really hampers the east coast guys.

I am interested but I may be late sometimes. There's the IRS SuperBug Series that's Saturdays at 9pm EST (8pm CST) and this will start at 11 EST. If things stay on time I think it will be close but I can do both and stay up late.

I'm interested. I'll pick my car a little later, so I can be certain about what I want to race. I assume they'll be locked in for the season?

I did a quick test and it looks like three pit stops based on fuel only lasting ~7 laps. Sounds about right?

Sounds like a bit much for just 40 minutes. I may have to reconsider.
