American cars are just boring. Unless your driving the SRT10 ACR with Sports Hards or lower then it just makes me smile in joy. :)

I'd still prefer anything else though. And to those who want to make an arguement on racing american cars, how many of them are actually designed by americans?

Exotic cars. Imports have good handling but kind of lacklustre acceleration. American cars are the exact opposite. Exotic cars meanwhile? They're good all round.

Even the Tesla?

I do hope you're joking. Between you and Shmorgusborg I'm losing what little faith I have in Americans becoming less ignorant.
Have you driven any of those cars you posted? Aside from the Z06 all those cars are slugs in the slalom. And Cobalt?? are you serious?? The understeer on that sloppy machine will make a driver suicidal. Not to mention it could stand to go on a diet, accelerating out of turns can be had faster by a paraplegic turtle.
How did a poorly planned poll like this end up in Q&A anyways??
My vote is, every car manufacturer has it's perks and needs work.

Have you seen the lap times for the Cobalt SS? It's by far the fastest car around a track in it's segment, and beats out many cars that should be faster.
By all accounts the new GT and especially the new Boss are extremely fast around a road course. And the ACR?

According to car and driver's lightning lap tests, the Cobalt SS is faster around VIR than an STI, Evo, 135i, Elise, etc. The ACR beat out a Mosler, KTM X-Bow, Zr1, LP-570, LP-670, 430 Scud, etc.
Wasn't the ACR fastest around Ring for a bit? I'd find it extremely difficult to call any car that can claim a ring time like that not "world class kinds of speed". It's currently at number 7 according to wikipedia, just faster than the GTR.

But no, to answer your question I have no clue what their slalom numbers are, so I guess I'm just an ignorant American.

I own a German car for what it's worth.

Even the Tesla?

Tesla is american. Unless your asking if the Tesla is like other american cars.

ACR holds the record for fastest street legal car. There are like 4 or 5 cars above it including the Zonda R.

Last time I heard the Cadillac CTS-V also holds the fastest production 4 door sedan lap time there as well.

So much for those Durr American cars can't handle durrr.

I know alot of BMW M fan boys got mad when they threw the Stock new 5.0 GT against it and it did on par if not little better. For much less.

It's still not that very fast.

... Well the other cars above the ACR, not including the Zonda R, are quite odd and had to google them to find out what they were. They must've set they're records a good time ago.

The Ford GT Le Mans car was good, but it's a race car and I don't think that really counts.

GM still occasionally claims it's the fastest 4 door, but Porsche and others have been faster than the CTS for a while now. Though, I'm not sure what your scale of "not very fast" is if a CTS-V doesn't qualify.

Most of the cars higher than the ACR, like the Radical, and Zonda have varying degrees of "street legal", but the times were all posted within the last few years. 👍

Why everybody thinks that Brazil is a giant forest ?

It's not??????? Oh.:dopey:

Anyway, I don't really care where a car is from as long as it drives ok. I think the thing with American cars, at least in the old days is the looks were superior to anything else, these days they don't seem to get either the looks nor the handling right.

No men! Its not. We have one of the biggest city in the world, Brazil economy is growing a lot and we are the 8º economy of the world

Or, if you were paying attention, I was commenting on a quoted comment which was discussing "exotics." I believe that C-ZETA was discussing "exotic" cars in general, and not whether they happen to be American or not.

Observe:

Now, if you're still confused as to what I was asking him, it was a rhetorical question that was aimed to demonstrate that "exotic" cars are not always "good all round."

Try to keep up, buddy.

Look at my avatar...

Seriously, I like any car that can scare the **** out of me 👍 , and any car that makes me turn my neck going down the opposite side of the road (errr 599)

question is misleading. A flame starter for sure.

With the world economy today, the line between "import" and "American" is pretty burred. I drive a car that is "Made in America", but how many parts on it are made in China, Japan, Mexico, or somewhere else? I used to drive what most folks think of as an American icon-a Camaro, but it was built in Canada. So should the 4th gen Camaro be considered an import? Some Toyotas are built in Kentucky-does that make them American?

I love the sound (IRL) of American cars.. especially the ZR1.. youtube some of those sound clips. For pure performance and fun to drive-factor.. I would generally take European cars over all else, aside from Lambo and Audi.. don't much care for them really.

The ZR1 is probably my favorite car to drive in Gt5.. aside from the F2007.. but after that my list is full of imports.

I like both. But if I have to choose I prefer "imports" (I'm not from USA... for me "imports" are all but Seat)

I like my (real life) car and it's American. But it was made in " a land down under". Snap now I am cofused WTF.

I'm completely aware, except to the fact that it was a rhetorical question. My bad, not good at telling whether or not someting is or isn't online.

I don't think the Tesla is exotic now that I think about it...

Nope it's still japanese. Met a person online who thought BMW was american, had quite an arguement with him. Later that day I did some research and it's infact still a german car even if it's biult in america.

How do you define "exotic?"
ex·ot·ic adj.
1. From another part of the world; foreign: exotic tropical plants in a greenhouse. See Synonyms at foreign.
2. Intriguingly unusual or different; excitingly strange

Focus on definition number 2. Now tell me how an eletric motor in a sports car is not unusual, different, or excitingly strange.

I feel like a lot of people formed their opinion of American cars decades ago and haven't checked them out again.
Greatest post in this thread. People are upset about Americans getting the wrong idea of their countries, whilst they make the same incorrect statements about American cars.

It was until the Panamera Turbo came around.

Except he's still technically right.

If the car was built in America, it may still be a German car, but it is not an import.

My TL is a fine example of what Bad Bart is getting at. Built in Ohio, sold only in the US & China, so it makes me laugh when people call it a Japanese car.

Japanese model, built in America. Not an import. 👍

It wasn't imported. Something has to be imported for it to be an import.

Besides, Acura is a strict American manufacturer created by Honda. They were launched in the U.S. (that's not Japan) and then expanded.

As for the question, it's not even fair. (America) vs. (JDM, European, super exotics)
