Because they had to think of something to make people but the cars. They are virtually conceding that the cars can't sell on level terms.

Everybody's favourite idiots over at ConsumerGuide call the current Elantra the best car in its class. Vroom, it beat Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.

I'm a strong believer that Japanese cars suck. While American cars have weakened over the years, the Japanese cars have never been strong. If you think about it, Japanese cars are for posers. Rather than buy a truly good American car, people are content to buy a much cheaper (in quality and price) ricer. I've also heard about the longevity of Japanese cars. Maybe it's the Pennsylvania weather, but I have never, ever, seen a Japanese car on the road that is more than 15 years old. The last two trucks I've owned, both chevrolets, had seen over 100,000 miles in less than three years. Neither one had ever been back to the shop. There is also something to be said about the quality of Japanese steel. A friend of mine got into an accident with a japanese car. His s-10 received minimal damage, and he drove it home. The ricer that ran into him was next to totalled. Japanese cars truly are ****. As far as European cars go, though, theres no contest. They are the best built cars, but also cost a ****load.

I love hearing stuff like this, another "Japanese cars suck" post. Also, another person with no experience with the issue at hand. ie tama.

There are good Japanese cars, and bad one's. The same goes for Domestic cars. If you want to talk about mileage, I have friend's with Honda's that have over 200,000 miles on them with the stock engine still strong. We have 6 month's of winter in my state, if not more. (which is hell on a vehicle)

On the other hand, the past 3 Chevrolet trucks I've owned, all 3 '95 models or newer, have broken down one way or another, before 60,000 miles. (Receipts to prove it)

When I was younger, I had a Z28 with a stroked Corvette engine. It made a little over 450hp, got 6mpg, and I had to work on it every other week. When I was 18, I bought a '93 TwinTurbo RX7, my first *real import. With a little tuning the car made over 400hp at the flywheel, it didn't break one time in the 2 years I owned it. Compared to my Camaro, I got almost 20mpg, and it weighed over 1000lbs less.

Since my RX7, I've owned numerous Japanese cars. The only way I'd buy another domestic car, would be if I got an obscenely good deal on it. Until the unthinkable happens, the only thing in my garage will be an import.

I gotta say i love the european sports cars ferrari, lambo, porsche, tvr, audi and bimmer make some of the best sedans 3series, a4,a8,m3,m5
but all probably never be able to afford one. really when i look at it the Japanese make the most affordable cars, when you consider how much gas they take
the americans make good cars, the f150 might be the best pick up there is right now, the corvette is pretty sweet but i think the europeans win my vote

Did you know that some words with the letter 's' at the end don't have apostrophes?

Another helpful remark taken the wrong way by somebody who refuses to admit to being incorrect. Whatever - I'm not the one in South Dakota (ha! Ha!). Okay, that was a joke. Ish

i vote euro btw
i mean the japanese cars are good and so are american, but i look at what euro has (specially ford)
i love the:
enzo
f50
'03 focus rs
m3
m5
mondeo
c12s
sl55... the list goes on

I'd have to say.....euro cars, they have Porsche, a great sports car company and my personal favorite. they got Ferrari which is one of the most well apraised car companies in the world. they got mercedes which is extremly well praised and they are a good car company. the American has there famous car companies but in truth you only get about three cars that deserve praise in my oppinion, Saleens, Ford GT (which is because it has an intresting chassis), and the lingeiter corvette TT and thats because it can go from 0-60 in 1.9 and it goes 230 mph. Now japan makes very well quality cars but i dun like how they have gone into the street racing thing. I like mostly how they have made good reliable cars. I praise honda on how its has a very well um placed product line. Mitsubishi holds no place in my heart but it holds it in alot of peoples hearts but all i have to say is i prefer euro because it has given me the best buys in the past.

I would say Euro too just because they give you luxury and speed. They make the lightest cars and the heaviest. Their styiling is superior in my opinion. Just that it's kinda unfair see as Europe consists of more than one country. I really haven't like american because all the cars have been really ugly. The C6 is the nicest one yet and the mustang ain't too shabby either. Japanese are cool and all but tend not to bring out the cars that really matter over here(US). Recently though they have been a lot better with that.

No doubt. If you're going to bring up a DEAD THREAD make it a good one.

I did use a few too many apostrophes that day though. Long day... The invitation is still open though M5 and audiracing. Stop by any time.

ya because I seem to think that American cars are the best. Everyone has there own opinions.
