Hi, today I got Gold in the AMG Driving Academy very quickly, after 2 tries, and I'm not even a Nurbugring expert.
This isn't a thread to boast, but to prove that even if you aren't good you can still get Gold in the rain 👍
Anyways, my question, if you tried the Advanced seperate Sectors, you can see that it is very slippery on the racing line, but in the Full Lap, there is lots of grip on the racing line, why is this?
I didn't know that the drying line was integrated into GT5, can anyone confirm this?

Now that you mention it i did think that it was weird that i did the full lap first time, but when i did it i couldnt feel any difference in grip

You didn't feel that the corners could be taken faster and that you could accelerate earlier with more throttle out of the corner?

I actually felt the same thing. It felt like the tires on the car were changed for the final race. It had way more grip on the full lap than on the individual timed sectors.

The track felt like there was water all over it.
It did grip a little more than the previous test in the rain because I'm assuming that it used better tires.
Nothing too out of the ordinary for me, though.

The tyres have always been Comfort Hard tyres, for every single AMG Driving Academy Event :nervous::nervous::nervous:
Also, all the Sector times added up equals a faster lap time than a Full Lap Gold, so more margin for error is allowed, but if the tyres were changed to a more grippier one, the Full Lap Gold time would be lower than all the Sector Gold times added up.

The SLS in the Rain uses Comfort Soft.

yea definitely true! the individual sectors were much more difficult, not super difficult but hard nonetheless... the full lap i didnt do it on my first try because i saw some guy online beating the time by 20 seconds plus... so i wasnt worried and was continuing even if i crashed... but i missed it by 5 seconds or so... i got it on my second try tho, much less spinning

I saw that too.
I pushed hard then went conservative around the second half to not spin.
I won by 10 seconds, not Expert like but still a Gold 👍

Just an update to say that I have now gotten all Golds in the AMG Driving Academy.
Just got Grand Tour, Eiger Norwand to Gold.

Don't drive at ten tenth's. Drive within yourself and the time will come. Being smooth with all the controls is the trick.

Whats the best recommended setup for this in terms of ABS, traction control, etc.? Must admit have struggled with some of these but there were some where you could almost use the walls to slow you down preventing you loosing time braking as it doesn't disqualify you like a lot of the other licence tests and special events

What tips do you have for a new wheel user on that challenge. It's been kicking my butt. The individuals.

Smooth driving, don't try taking it fast than you can go, drive at 80-90%, not 100% until you know the Nurburgring.
For the individuals, which ones are you having trouble with?

I only had ABS 1, you go so much faster without TCS.

I did all the events in a row, and definitively could tell that the last one had more grip.

Is like they switch from "real grip" on wet to "reduced grip", according to some options on free run.

All in a row?
Nice one 👍
