Indycar would probably be slower than a GP2 car on a road circuit but certaintly not slow, and the old CART series cars in the 90's were not that far off the F1 cars on road circuits, but on an ovals they hit some crazy speeds, i'd love to have them in game.
Nope, that would not be legal, it would the same as a players being able to create a replica of say Heihachi from Tekken in GTA IV, a clear cut copyright infringement if it's in public domain, and GT5 does count as a public domain.
But who wants to drive a 60's Grand Prix car?
because they're not GT5....
Why would you want f1 cars in gt5 when you have dedicated f1 games out there?
albaYou could do a multi-class f1 cars with different eras of F1s in them at the same time, that'd be cool
I agree on the solution of having a proper premium FGT2011 car with the option to change the number like the stealth cars and the likes.
Yeah they can as Bernie wasn't the boss back then (I think anyway). But who wants to drive a 60's Grand Prix car?
Because those dedicated F1 games are sub par?
With that said, the F1 cars in GT5 are sub par compared to F1 2011, an already available dedicated F1 game.
What's the complaint with the Ferrari's in GT5? Too easy, don't feel real?
If there were F1 cars in Gran Turismo 5 I have the feeling the complaining wouldn't end there. Then there would be those who would say "why isn't there a racing season?". Or "why is there no KERS?", "Why isn't DRS in the game?", "Why is there no qualifying?", etc.
You can say that F1 cars in Gran Turismo 5 would be great until the proverbial cows come home, but I really do think you won't get the comprehensive competitive racing experience that a dedicated game will give you. That's what you really want.
Generally a lack of feel, they appear to have way too much low speed grip and stability, feels almost impossible to lose them. If you compare them to any of the F1 simulators or the F1 2011 game they are completely different and far easier to drive, with less feel, almost like there is no slip with the tyres, like a super tight grip machine.
I generally feel the same with most of GT5's high downforce slick tyre cars, while the road cars generally feel great, like a real simulation, but the F1 cars are the complete opposite of the spectrum (The NASCAR stock cars too) in just being nowhere near, even if they do look amazing graphically.
So whats up with this video, and please I'm not trying to be a smart ass. It's scary how GT5 mimic's that video how is this if you say the F1 cars are not right in GT5. thanks.
I'm not sure the direction of this post but there are F1 cars in the game, the F2007 and F10 Ferraris, not to mention the FGT fantasy car which is roughly based on the F1 cars of 2003/2004. There is also an F1 season in the game, only in the FGT.
So i'm not sure what you mean by your post.
What's not to be sure about? If there were Formula 1 cars in Gran Turismo 5, then everyone would find other things to complain about.
The difference is in the subtleteys of the driving, what you're seeing in the real life video is one of the best drivers in the world pushing a perfectly setup car around a track. The GT5 car allows you to do fairly realistic laptimes while on screen it looks like its doing the same thing, and I agree it looks amazing, I have a replay I recently did around Monza in GT5 and it blows my mind it looks so good.
But what you arent seeing in either of the videos is what the real driver is doing to create that lap, the small things going on under the hood, compared to what is happening in the GT5.
The GT5 car is achieving that with very little skill required. If I run the iRacing car I could produce a lap replay that looked the same as a GT5 lap, but the iRacing lap took an awesome setup and a ridiculous ammount of practice and precision to achieve the same results. If I took Ferrari Virtual Academy around the Nurburgring GP track then achieving a perfect laptime would take massive ammounts of skill and patience, where as in GT5 it is fairly straight forward and can be done with a few laps practice, without any of the problems you run into with one of the more focussed sim cars.
F1 2011 isnt a full on sim but a lot of these subtle forces and driving changes (low speed grip and instability) are modelled fairly well, where as the GT5 car is a much more straight forward and solid car with a very focussed and hard feel to it, almost like point it and floor it in comparison. F1 2011 in replays looks like crap, but driving wise it more closely simulates the subtle points while also taking off the edge to reduce the skill factor needed.. Sort of a middle ground.

Yeah the old cars are disadvantages by no kers/drs and their grooved tyres, as you obviously didnt see I mentioned in a previous post. The 2011 cars are disadvantaged by engines with 200bhp + less power.
"if this regulation wasnt in place then XXX car would be faster" arguements mean nothing, because the exact same can be applied to show the 2011 cars being faster. You could say, well if the 2011 cars didnt have the double defuser banned, and F-duct was allowed again and if they brought back the 3.0 V10 engines with 940bhp and if they did this and did that.
Fact remains, qualifying times of the 2011 cars are faster than the 2004 cars. Maybe with different regulations the 2004 cars would be faster, but you didnt have those regulations so what does it matter?
Oh my god...
Is it so hard to understand?
They qualified with RACE FUEL in 2004. This alone allows the 2011 cars to beat the 2004 times. This has nothing to do with the 2004 cars running under different technical regulations.
Even with DRS, slick tires and kers, the F2004 would rape the 2011 cars. Vettel sets his Q3 laps with 3 or 4 laps of fuel. Schumacher setted his laps with 15-20 lap fuel. This alone makes roughly 2 seconds at some tracks.
And you are maybe not that much into F1, but only fastest race laps count as lap record, so it will take F1 a while to beat the records settet by MS in 2004.Using your logic, the 2011 cars are even worse then the cars 10 years ago because they need more time to finish the race...
You didnt get my post, your reply in anger is pointless. There is nothing to discuss.Oh my god...
