I'm about to make an animated avatar and as a noob in that area I wonder if there is any limitations in how big the animation can be. Do I have to keep it within the 35 kb avatar limitation?

I was thinking of animate the avatar i'm using right now and it's about 15k as a .jpeg. Saving it as a gif in photoshop made it 7.5k but on properties it said that it still used 15k diskspace and the size was 7.5k.

If The whole anim has to be under 35k then what's the best way to compress an image and still keep the quality, I would like to use 7-8 images in the anim.

All avatars have to below the 35kb limit. The only animation format that GTPlanet supports if GIF.

If for any reason you surpass the file limit reduce the numbers of colours. Then if the colours stuff up you can create you own colour palette, something I wish to know how to do in Adobe Imageready.

If it is an animation you need lots of frames if its a slide show you can experiment with basic transitions - an example of a basic transition is on Miata13B's old avatar.

I made it have a frame between each slide have the frame before it have 50% opacity, then the next frame to be behind it at full opacity. - I don't think this is very clear but if you import into an animation program you should be able to see it better.

Well, actually 102.5kb is the limit (attach it in the storage thread and remotely link it)

Thanks alpha and jpec! That thing to reduce colours did the trick to shrink filesize! And if that works jpec than that's nothing to worru about though.
