Animated GIF as avatar?

 oh you've been looking in all the wrong places, my friend....

gif avatars work on any forum...problem is that they gotta be within the forum limit (here anyway) or they don't animate. I've been trying to get one working over the past week. Unless i turn the quality to trash, the file size remains too big. So I gave up and now I have this.

Thanks.

Oh and I reside almost exclusively in the GT5 Photomode Competition forum, so I don't see much variety in the way of avatars. Most just use GT5 photos.

AOS is right. You need to have an avatar that doesn't go over 25kb I believe.

It's 20kb

And gosh, it's hard to compress an animated gif to 20kb (for me at least).

It's 20kb if your not Premium and 25 if you are.

And for a gif to work properly, it must also meet the image dimensions limit - up to 120x120 for Premium and 100x100 otherwise.

Yup, it can be a hassle, which is why you never see anything remotely complicated for an animated gif avatar on this forum. Removing duplicate frames, adjusting frame delay, fiddling with colors and lossy, and removing copyright info when saving can all add up though.
