animation .gif problem

i got a problem.

i created some animated .gif pictures and
when i open them from C:\ drive, they
animate nicely..

however when i upload to my unix server
running apache, it does not animate

and not only this server, other servers
also do not animate.

i use ftp to send them, is there a problem?
 
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia > check 'Play animations in web pages'.
 
yep it is checked. i can see animation locally
but can't see them animate when they are
ftp'd to my unix servers (tried a few unix servers)
