I don't know if anyone else notices this, but I feel like driving in the game with aids off is completely unrealistic. I own a Chrysler Crossfire and two Miatas in real life and have autocrossed them all and have never had any real problem throwing them around. It seems like in GT5, when you turn the aids off, it's like driving on ice. Now, my Miatas don't even have ABS, never mind traction control, and they never break loose as easily as in the game... It annoys me to all hell when people say they turn the aids off to make the game "more realistic", because in my eyes it doesn't.

I'm sure there are people on these forums that have more real life experience driving/racing than I do and I'm curious as to how you feel about turning off all the aids compared to actual racing. I can't be the only one that finds it easier to drive near the limit in real life than in the game...

Maybe your not using proper tires in the game that adequetly suits your real life car.

Most people refer to using no aides as "more realistic" because the game doesn't simulate some of them properly. Its been known with ABS that it doesn't compare to real life and that its merely a braking/traction assist, turning that off lets you simulate braking better.

To OP, are you testing online in lobbies or offline in GTLIFE or ARCADE??? Online lobbies are known for ultra slippy physics even on same tune\tires as offline.

Tires: if your car feels slippy with stock tires try upgrading one notch.

BRAKE BALANCE, the most important part of driving without ABS in game>>>

Amar212's Guide to Non-ABS Brake Balance and the effects of NON ABS.

My hardbody pickup truck handle better than almost all cars in gt5 , the driving is realistic but i think the problem is with the tires they don't perform like real tires .

How can we help you when we don't even know what equipment you use, another thing is remember this is a game in real life you feel G forces which really help you get the feel of your real car. In GT5 or any video game it is easy to drive to fast because of the lack of Gs feedback. If your playing with a controller it will be harder.

In game it seems like anything short of racing tires are horrible, and once you put on racing tires it glues you to the road. I don't put on any special tires when I bring my actual cars out, so I guess they would be equivalent of sports medium(?).

I do realize that online it's even a bit more difficult to not lose control of the car, but even in single player it's sketchier than I feel it should be. I realize you can't feel G forces in the game, but you can still pay attention to body roll, and it seems like real cars can handle a lot more of it than the game can without spinning out.

Usually, when I'm annoyed in real life, playing GT5 makes me less annoyed, and when I'm annoyed on GT5 I go back to real life. [/Ambiguous thread title]

I think the problem is that tyres in GT5 are pretty unrealistic. PD needs to work on the tyre physics to improve the game as a whole. To be honest, I'd still rather play an unrealistic game without aids than a realistic one with them.

What wheel are you using? How long have you been playing GT5?

I'm not trying to offend you in any way here. But if you can't drive fast with Sport tires, then it's because you lack skill with the lower grade tires. The Audi R8 for an example is very fast, and has a lot of grip on Sport Hard tires.

I frequently run championships and endurance races here on GTP, and the guys I run with don't have any trouble being fast on stock tires(comfort soft-Sport Hard). Granted, most of them use ABS(I don't).

I use a g27 and have been playing since Gran Turismo 2. I'm not saying I can't drive well in the game, it's just unrealistically sketchy.

He didn't say he couldn't drive fast in GT5, he's saying GT5 isn't replicating real life. Being fast in GT5 just means you are good at video games.

Cars need to have a good tune in GT5 before they drive good. I think you need to fit FC suspension on every car just to get it to drive a little bit realistic. Basically all real life cars have camber and toe dialled in and you can't get that in GT5 without FC suspension. I also think that GT5 cars have little or no damping with standard suspension.

The other thing is, you receive far more sensory feed back from a real car than from GT5 so it's super easy to prevent a car from going into a spin for example in real life.
