Does anyone else have a problem with the squeaky pedals that come with the MadCatz MC2?

Any ideas as to how to stop it?

SQUEAK SQUEAK Brake SQUEAK SQUEAK Accel SQUEAK SQUEAK Smash...

wd40 tends not to work, in fact it probably is part of the cause of the problem, petrolium products eat plastic, whipe the parts that squeak down thouroughly and try some vegetable oil.

Or...

You can just buy a real Sony dualshock 2.

True, It's expensive, but it's certainly better than that Madcrapz controllers. I tend to shy away from those.

I bought a wheel to get away from the controller, and I can't see where it is rubbing and squeaking.

The arm that the pedal is attached to is made out of metal btw.

Axe Body spray will get rid of that. If not. Get a automobile into your room and then the smell would match the reek of WD-40.

ive got a mad catz 2 and i dont seem to have that problem...

street fighter do you notice that once you put more then like 10% pressure on your gas pedal (judging by the light on the wheel) that your really getting like full power...because when im playing gt3 and i put it at like half pressure...and i look at my replay or even judging by the tach its like the same amount of pressure as if it were at full...and if i put it at maybe 1 light....its as if im getting 75% pressure...i dunno if its just my wheel...do you find the same thing?

shopping carts, if you have to set your gas and brake pedals to X and Square every time you start the game, just to make them work, that could be the problem.

If you read the MC2 manual, it tells you to set the gas and as right analog stick up and brake as right analog stick down in the game's controls option screen.

I had a similar problem when I first got it.
I was like, "wtf, where is my throttle control? is it just gas on/gas off?" Just cuz I was setting the controls with the wheel program button instead of the options menu.

HOWEVER. I did notice that in GT3, if you hold the e-brake down and rev your engine with the pedal, the turbo pressure gauge is maxed out before the pedal goes through it's full range of motion.

With the pedal hovering an inch over the plastic base of the pedals, the turbo pressure is just maxing out. That and the squeaks are the only problems I can detect.

Apparently the wheels used to squeak like mad but they recalled them, but they obviously didn't fix the pedals.

oh ok, so when i set brake to the right analogue down and gas as up...how do configure it on my wheel? the same way as i would do it normally?or when im going to configure the gas instead of pressing x i press up, and for brake i press down?

Set gas as right analog stick UP, in the GT3 options menu.
Set brake as right analog stick DOWN, in the GT3 options menu.
Save your game.

That's it.
Don't program the pedals with the wheel.

The pedals are interpreted as the right analog stick by the Playstation 2 unless you set them otherwise, which would have to be done every time you turn the PS2 on.

Yeah it does.

I've actually used an elastic looped through one of the holes on the gas pedal and wrapped around where the cord comes out to hold the pedal to the base, as to eliminate that meaningless up and down motion.

Then I taped a cork on it's side under the pedal so it only goes the effective distance.

In GT3, the MC2 gas pedal 'floors it' in the game before it actually 'floors' the pedal. What I have done has simply prevented it from going all the way and wasting that motion for no reason.

Buy second rate stuff and you have to improvise it seems...

Hi, I also have a MC2 and its giving me hell of problems. Its got that great squeaking that it makes, but unlike the other problems encountered I not having overly sensitive gas pedal. Instead my gas pedal when fully depressed only gives me about 40-50% throttle, as measured by those little lights on the dash. Anyone have any solutions to this??

You have the same problem as me. Say in your instruction book (if you still have it) does it say to hold down L2 R2 and Start. Cause I've tried it every time but it doesn't help.

Nope dont have my instruction book. Doesn't mention anything like that on the madcatz website though does it? Anyway gave that a shot, and not quite sure what it does though. I think it may just redefine the zero position of the accelerator maybe?
This problems quite odd though, when you press the pedal fully, then hit the paddles and start, it zero's the accelerator lights and then when you apply the pedal again it goes quite spastic.....
How long has yours had this problem?

thats happened to me a couple of times before...what i do is just unplug the mad catz...wait a couple of seconds then plug it back in...it seemed to work for me...might as well try it

Just thought I'd open old wounds for the sake of MC2 users everywhere.

If you don't own one, don't buy one.

Save your money for a Driving Force Pro. They rock and you can use them on your computer.
