Annoying Win 7 problem

So it turns out W7 is not so brilliant.

In the last few days I have encountered a problem upon start up. When I log into my profile, instead of loading up my profile (as in my desktop, programs, settings, wallpaper) it loads up a temporary profile which has generic everything, and a little error balloon comes up saying it was had loaded a temporary profile, please contact the admin

After some googling, i found where in the registry it is creating the duplicate profiles, so i can remove the temp profile, reboot and get into my normal one, but it is freaking annoying that it is doing it in the first instance.

Any views on why it is?

Most likely caused by a corrupted file(s) somewhere in the system32 folder. I've heard of this problem before, I remember the guy just copied his original profile to a USB... reinstalled Windows back onto the said partition and copied his profile over from the USB. Seemed to work for him, but he never found out what caused it. He was on Vista mind you.

Best move you'll ever make in the computer industry is moving to Linux. :P Windows is horrid. I'm glad I got rid of it years ago, I don't have any annoying problems or performance issues either. I'm also exempt from ads. ^_^

I can tell you how to fix this it is an easy fix.

I use this to fix customers who have issues loading in to their PCs.

Thanks for that 👍

I followed the instruction in the admin/ main profile, then rebooted. It went to the temp one again, so I repeated the instructions there, and rebooted again.

When I attempted to log into my regular profile, it then told me 'unable to access profile" and went "logging off" and kicked me back to the profile login screen :grumpy:. So i rebooted again, crossed fingers and got in.

Cross fingers this means it's fixed, but I'll know tomorrow morning when I try and log in again!

Update: Seems like everytime it loads from power on/off, it first cannot load my profile (says user profile cannot be located), but a reset allows my password to be then be accepted when I enter it :grumpy:

You can make a new user profile then copy the data from the older one from C:\Users\Mike

Make sure you copy everything including the hidden files which you can see if you enable view hidden files and folders in folder options.
