Anonymous is initiating an attack against Sony network and servers

Twitter, facebook and you tube? Really. Isnt that exactly what sopa would essentially have done anyway?

So to fight sopa and protest the removal of a huge file sharing site, these computer robin hoods will take out 3 major sites who have been very vocal in the fight against sopa. Makes sense to me. Idiots.

It kinda makes sense because those websites will create the biggest uproar upon going down. None of that will hit the givernment directly, anyways, so holding the most popular websites 'hostage' could probably be considered to be the most effective cause of action.

For a group of hactivists, of course.

Me, I don't really care, either way. I'll just stand by and laugh at all the Facebook addicts having seizures, I guess.

Good point. And I do agree. The point of any type of terrorist act is to cause the biggest uproar and panic within the general population.
Dont have twitter nor ever had a youtube account so i would be fairly unaffected anyway.

But to me its like screaming " feed the homeless" by day whilst stealing all their food at night.

Except that people aren't dying from Facebook withdrawel. Or taking any form of physicsal harm, whatsoever. Well, some folks might act like that, but that's it. Likening that to the threat that actual terrorism poses to people's safety is blowing this issue out of proportion, in my opinion. I love to joke about it, but I can't actually think of someone who's really going to to suffer from not having access to Facebook and Youtube for a week, or so.

Actually, I'd assume that it's going to put more pressure on the related companies to exact some sort of influence on the government to leave Megaupload be, as they're the ones who'll be losing money by the hour. Playing one group of lobbyists against the other, so to speak.

After several government related websites went down, I'd assume that that's one of the few ways to actually gather some more momentum.

I wont argue with you. Maybe my choice of words was wrong, but i stand by my point.
Lack of revenue for those three companies due to lost advertisement would be huge. Lack of exposure for advertisers would draw negative implications etc....
I disagree with what hacker groups do to get the message across even if i agree with said message.
