This is something I've had in mind since I took over the WRS stewardship, 2 months ago : using a race car which number matches the week number.

So we have 10 days to vote for the car that will be used in week 42, and we can only choose one of the three existing #42 race cars in the game :

BMW 320i Touring Car '03

Arcade specs :
Power : 257 hp (309 hp at +20%)
Weight : 1 140 kg (1 026 kg at -10%)
PWR : 4.44 (3.32)

GT specs :
Power : 261 hp (484 hp fully modded)
Weight : 1 140 kg (no weight reduction)
PWR : 4.37 (2.36)

BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01

Arcade specs :
Power : 444 hp (533 hp at +20%)
Weight : 1 120 kg (1 008 kg at -10%)
PWR : 2.52 (1.89)

GT specs :
Power : 450 hp (726 hp fully modded)
Weight : 1 120 kg (no weight reduction)
PWR : 2.49 (1.54)

BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97

Arcade specs :
Power : 603 hp (723 hp at +20%)
Weight : 950 kg (855 kg at -10%)
PWR : 1.58 (1.18)

GT specs :
Power : 612 hp (910 hp fully modded)
Weight : 950 kg (no weight reduction)
PWR : 1.55 (1.04)

Obviously, we will drive a BMW next month :D
Vote for your car (no multiple vote this time), and if you have some preference for the combo (track, GT or Arcade, hotlap or multilapper...) just post in this thread.

Obviously, for me, the McLaren. I'll definately take part if it wins though I think the M3 GTR will.

Then why didn't you vote for it
The 320i has 2 votes (including mine, because the less power the more chances I have to control it) and the McLaren none.

Wait...Arghh...! I did the wrong vote. Ok, Contrary to my vote, I want this:

BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01
Arcade mode
Hotlap
Cote d’Azur

We havn't done Cote since err....That week with the S2000 LM, now that was a long time ago, would of had to of been week 13 or 14 I think. But no R5 tyres, maybe R3s again.

Voted for the Mclaren. I would prefer GT Mode on one of the Apricot Hill tracks, as I'm pretty sure we havn't raced those yet 👍

flat-out

I didn't see a poll when I made the reply.:nervous:

We did it not to long ago (Relatively) with a Jag S-Type.

The McLaren needs an big open track I think. Maybe one of the Fuji 80s or 90s?

Dang that's right :grumpy: Still would be a good track for it I think ;)

Then you didn't vote wrong and you can still vote for the one you prefer.
Casio : perhaps if you try to bribe someone who would like to vote for the car you voted for, he'll vote for yours instead and that would make up for you wrong click. (Er, that is, if you first understand what I mean :ouch: )

iceman : Apricot forward was used for week 26 (Jaguar), Apricot reverse was never used.

McLaren for me, I fell in love with it in GT Prologue, on the 10 lap license test that was totally fun. Which was on Fuji 90's, but Fuji 80's is still a blast and a good combo for the car I think, you know let her stretch her legs a little, not be so cramped up like at Monaco.

Yup, I understand. Everybody vote for the M3 GTR if you wanted the 320 Touring, because I've voted for you on that :sly:.

One more thing, where do you get the 320? Do you have to buy it? Because I've done all the European hall and most of the other races and have never come across it or even raced against it. I really don't mind racing this car as I have never driven it before, although, Racing Tyres seem a tad extreme for 257 hp. I suppose in GT Mode we could put sports on it (Or N's if we're feeling adventurous).

Voted for the M3, the only one so far!

Mainly for two reasons....

It's got a mid-range level of power:tup:

And

It will have the grip and chassis to handle it!👍 👍

Other reasons, it's well balanced, sharp, and looks damn good.:)

As for a combo, maybe Infinion sport-car or as Jerome suggests Fuji 90's, race tyres, and the surprise from me ARCADE-MODE +20/-10  ?

Though Gt mode in two weeks would be 50/50 wouldn't it?

Neil

Edit
Has anyone else noticed that we can't see who voted for what? (was that your choice Cyril?)

Neil

Voted McLaren.

My favorite car in the game (more or less).

Arcade version took me around the Ring in 5'31. 👍

The other two are cars you see all over in the world of OLR. The McLaren is different and rarely gets used thanks to the "odd" specs that seem to place it with no real competition.

Of course, Flat-Out, if you want a real challenge. :trouble:
...

I'll be back shortly. :sly:

McLaren on the Ring...

Honestly, out of the three, that would be the last of my choices to put on the ring. It would be a great challenge, but the track really doesn't suit it well in my opinion. For me, anything over 500-600hp on most tracks just doesn't work well.

How the hell you managed to get the Maclaren (arcade) round the ring in that time I will NEVER know!

Just tried it for the hell of it, just now.

And after 6 re-starts before T3, and a slow but complete 6,21-odd lap tried for a faster one and got span out by the car digging into one of the dips at nearly 200mph.

Hell of a scary ride!

Did not like it at all, no suspension,ground-clearance or stability over the bumps.

👍 to that time!

Neil

Voted for the M3 , one of my particular fav's 👍

In GT mode

@ Laguna Seca perhaps :scared:

42 mmmm the Answer to Life the Universe and Everything :sly:

Well,

:dopey: It dun taut me da ring. :dopey:

No really, it's an interesting lap if you want to push the Ring and learn in the most frustrating way possible. ;)

The McLaren was one of the cars in GT4 that I felt like I had to drive. It was such an Icon to me when GT4 was coming out.
This lap took more time than I can recall because of how spread out my sessions have been.
Small_fryz gets credit for starting me on the combo a second time atleast a month after I first tackled it. :p

Download one of these two and give it a viewing.
This lap is straight off of the .de site's file-holder for me (so there was no trouble getting it). 👍
http://db.gtrp.de/gt4_arcade_track.php?classid=14&track=55

Don't worry though, all of this hype for the McLaren just goes down as one vote.

I hope these replay files work out.
Later.

Btw, I'm not asking for the Ring... I had another idea in mind that I think you could all enjoy much more. 👍
(of course it will go to "you all" rather than flat-out alone since I'm really just another racer that happens to be a mod).

The BMW M3 GTR Race Car is my ultimate favorate ride in GT4.....Fantastic on any track, although a nice tight track is a perfect match for this ride on rails....Cote D'azur maybe?

tough choice.

voted mclaren, but M3 would also be fine.

GT mode

Autumn Ring FORWARD. but, since autunm ring reverse was featured a few weeks ago, don´t know if you guys would like...

The M3 is the more sensible car for the WRS.
Easy to win (one of the german street car race series).
Easy to handle in arcade and GT (has good grip).
Even easy to find competition for. :D

At the same time though, I just don't have a personal sentiment for the M3GTR race car like I do for the McLaren. :dopey:

The M3 doesn't sound all that great to me, handles so well it's almost rediculus, and in a general sense, the car is very popular.

The McLaren on the other hand is hard to handle, not very popular, and always a blast (for me). :D

I think the car should be the dependant variable in this equation. 👍
The track should be the independant and maybe the drivers are the control?

No really,
The final car selection should come down to track more than anything else (if you ask me).

The BMW M3 GTR just wouldn't be as much fun as the McLaren on Sarthe but the McLaren wouldn't be very good on citti d aria.

I suppose two suggestions are:

McLaren anywhere ;)
or
M3 @ Special Stage Route 5 or "some other walled in track" (maybe the other paris)

Just my opinion though.

Good luck with the choices flat-out. 👍 :D

BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01 @ AH or GV. :D

Normal or reverse. It doesn't really matter.

Good points Kent.

And i was gonna suggest route 5 myself, but decided against suggesting it, purely because we have done it recently. However I still wouldn't mind it, it's a great track.

Pity route 11 has disappeared, THAT would be a good combo!

Neil

Hey Neil, I see you moved to Shhmokin, where exactly is that in England....the Lake District?

Indeed, if SSR11 was still around I would have suggested that for sure.

My chief concern is seeing that the track is matched to the car. 👍

First off, I hate to say it, but the 320 interest me none at all... It's just a weaker, slower version of the GTR. :(

The GTR, I find that to be one of the cars that is always coming up in GT4 races. I'm pretty sure it hasn't gone through a WRS though so it's all good if that is picked.

However, I would like to see the M3 (since it "should" be picked) on something that will fit the car well...

For example, NielsG (who I am glad to see in here) suggested "AH" or "GV."
Both are great tracks, but both of those I see as better tracks for the McLaren.

The M3 though, I see "walled-in" tracks and tight medium/ low-speed turns.

The course we use will be the most important thing about this race.

Either car could be made or ruined by the track.
Too big and open for the M3 and there will be no challenge... Too tight and confined and the McLaren will be frustrating.

It's gonna be a hard pick (especially with such nice cars).

So good luck flat-out. 👍

I voted for the M3, but i honestly dont mind which gets picked. I like either of them.
